Damnn Mondo! You soo good! I am ashamed I haven’t eaten at Mondo’s sooner. The pizza, the pricing, customer service — everything is on point. We most recently visited during the week for dinner. To our surprise, the dining room was packed and there was a 15 minute wait. Fret not! That gave me time to read their menu and creep on the place! After drooling over the menu, we knew we were going for both the Mondo Bianco AND Mondo Special. Honestly, one medium would’ve been just fine, but, we fatties! It’s good to know most of the pies come in more than one size though, the artisan pies however only come in small. They have a decent selection too for pies by the slice. NY-style, thin crust, fresh ingredients the pizzas are bomb! FYI: — Happy hour is Monday-Friday from 4−6pm. They offer $ 3 draft beers and $ 4 house red and white wine and a free appetizer! — Daily lunch special — Free public parking lot in rear of building — No reservations

The more I explore Middletown, the more pleased I am with the food scene. I’ve heard so much talk of Mondo vs. Krust so I had to try it for myself. It’s definitely a casual spot, but the setting is still nice enough for a date night. You also have the option to eat at the bar which can be helpful when it gets crowded. We started out with the Ricotta Fritters because we were famished, but honestly the pizza came out so quickly we probably didn’t need an appetizer. The Fritters were good, but didn’t come with any sauce and they were too filling. Next time I’ll try something lighter to start. They have soo many pizza choices, we had to ask for some suggestions. We ended up ordering the Mondo Bianco and the Mondo Special. You can choose what size pizza you want, which is super helpful! The small is plenty for one, the medium is enough for two, and the large for a group or if you’re both really hungry. The pizzas were delicious! The Mondo Special was probably my favorite though. They also had a list of Artisan Pies that you can only order in a small. I will definitely be back to try them! They all sound amazing and unique. I will definitely be back either to eat in or take-out. There are tons of amazing pies to try!

I love Mondo for 2 things — their Pizza and the fantastic Misto Salad. Misto Plate has Marinated artichokes, olives, roasted red peppers, aged provolone, prosciutto, polenta sticks, sopressata & fresh mozz 13.95. The best salad in CT !!!

Delicious food! Meatball/toast app to die for! Would have loved to try the prosciutto app many tables near us had it, but hubby & kids nixed, eggplant fries were good a little mushy inside, two pizzas one thin crust one Sicilian were both cooked perfectly, small storefront, even if you call ahead for the wait list it’s still a wait, bar looks good, deducting a star because our server was lackluster the other two waitresses in the dining area appeared to be on point ours was MIA frequently.

First Visit: Awesome, fantastic service, pizza crust(I ordered it a little«extra well done» added to the flavor with a slight char effect and the«hold» factor eliminated the typical sag that I don’t particularly enjoy. The consistency of the dough was really good, the sauce was tasty, the cheese was dispersed perfectly. I ordered my classic meatball and roasted peppers. The balance and ratios were spot on… just a really great pizza. It gets busy and I think a half hour wait is the norm although I beat the rush by fifteen minutes. Quality, service, value, and flavor has won me over. Definitely on my top 5 pizzas between New Haven and Hartford. Anxious to go again and try a salad… they looked GREAT.

Mondo on a Friday night in January was really hopping… Had a drink at the bar(beer & wine only) while we waited… Was told about a 45 minute wait but we were seated within 15… Nice table almost private considering how crowded they were… Now to the main event the pizza… Let me start by saying that I’m an absolute Pizza Snob… Born & raised in Brooklyn & a veteran of 5 trips to Italy… The pizza here wasn’t awful but it needed to be baked longer… It was too limp… I want my pizza to be on Viagra… Stiff so I can fold it !!! I’m willing to give them another shot and tell them to bake it longer & let it set a few minutes before bringing it to the table… This place does have possibilities !!!

We went here excited about wheat pizza but instead waited 45 minutes for a table and the service was about what you’d expect for a pizza place. Probably won’t go back. The pizza was nothing to write home about. The manager did serve us pizza while we waited; the only redeeming factor.

I’m sitting here eating some pizza I just bought from Mondo. Maybe I’m just used to really good pizza, like Modern Pizza in New Haven. But frankly I’ve had pizza in Hartford that is better than Mondo’s pizza. The crust was fine, but nothing amazing. The toppings were fine — but the raw green peppers and onions on the pizza(they were not pre-cooked which is what I’m used to) was annoying. Basically a big meh — I’ll be trying other pizza places in Middletown. Oh and the fried dough bites were incredibly doughy and chewy with no crunch to them — again something I’ve had far better from many places.

Always looking for a decent pizza and a place to meet up with my friends. A group of us met up at Mondo, and the pizza was ok, but I guess I have been spoiled by living in New Haven for several years so I would rate the pizza as just«good», but not the best I have ever had. Parking was hugely limited, and some of my friends had a hard time finding parking, which was a major complaint for all of us when talking about the place. The bar is open and airy, but because of this the acoustics are horrible and it is loud. It wasn’t comfortable and cozy by any means. Although the pizza and the prices were not bad, because of the loudness and the atmosphere, Mondo will not be a choice place to go to meet and catch up with my friends.

Arrived at Mondo on a Thursday night to find it packed. Hostess told us it would be a twenty minute wait happily we were seated in ten. I love it when people under promise and over deliver. Soup of the day was split pea wonderfully flavorful with generous pieces of ham. Followed by a portobello panini crusty crunchy focaccia bread enveloping generous portions of marinated grilled portobello, spinach and roasted peppers.(I opted out of the mozzarella) I should mention I started with a tasty white sangria with blueberries and mint. All in all I would recommend Mondo can’t wait to go back

Like others have said, Very good everything all around. Salads are fresh and flavorful, wings are one of my favorites, and the pizza is memorable and worth the drive. Wait staff is friendly, food is prompt without being rushed, dining room and bathrooms are clean, and prices are fair for the quality. I’m not crazy about the«industrial look» décor and the big windows make an uncomfortable glare as the sun sets, but I think the sun problem has been fixed.

Good stuff all-around here. Thin, crispy pizza with wonder toppings(including some really sausage). Salad was fresh and plentiful. This place is VERY kid-friendly. We may have caught them on an unusual Sunday but it was packed with tykes(including ours). Waitstaff was friendly and very accommodating and the place has tons of things from the kids to do from toys and books to coloring and chalkboards. Recommended!

My second time eating here, the pizzas are very good, however, the competition is fierce in CT for great pizzas and I have to say this place falls somewhere in the middle. The week link in the pizza has to be the dough and the crust I will eat here again, no doubt

Always a good place to go if you want great thin crust pizza, paninis, or salad. I have had all of these and you can’t go wrong. This visit I had the Tuscan salad with grilled chicken for $ 3.25 extra. Huge portion of greens, roasted red pepper, artichoke hearts, olives, tomato and mozzarella balls with a balsamic vinaigrette. Love it! Very popular and not a lot of tables. We were early on a Friday night and got a table in the bar area. Waiting line by the time we left. Definitely worth a visit!

Another worthy addition to the Middletown restaurant scene. Compared to Krust, Mondo is a larger, more open space — more accommodating for groups. As for the pizza, it was very good but not quite on the level of Krust, IMO. The sausage & pistachio was pretty darn good though.

Uh oh, time to disagree with my wife. Brace for impact, Lesley: p. Appetizers included solid wings and good risotto balls. Agreed that they were good while not amazing. But this is a pizza place, we ordered appetizers to hold us over for the stars of the show while we were waiting for a seat on a busy Friday evening. I thought the pizza was spectacular. Connecticut is very lucky; When your co-workers in Massachusetts tell you«Oh, that pizza from Big Y is my FAVORITE,» you know you live in a pizza state. This is not New-Haven style or Brick-oven pizza. Go to New Haven for the former(obviously), or to Krust/Otto/Carmine’s etc. for the latter. This is New York pizza, which honestly reminds me of the types of pies I’d get in the Bronx as a kid. Not so thick that it’s like chewing on a Big Y pizza, but not so thin that you can’t pick it up and walk down the street eating a slice. Indeed, they have slices to go, or sit down service. I absolutely loved every pizza that hit the table. Truffle oil? Sausage and pistachio? Holy hell, those were good. It’s worth a 10 minute drive just to pick one up and bring it home. Guess the wifey and I will have to agree to disagree :)

I’m bouncing back and forth between three and four star review with Mondo. I had no big complaints about Mondo. There were many different options for different palates and the service was terrific. From observing the kitchens, the chefs worked their tails off! Our genuinely upbeat waitress was attentive and made sure my water was constantly being refilled. I was one of a party of four and had to wait 25 minutes for a table. That was okay because the bar was empty and we had drinks and two appetizers at the bar. I loved my $ 6 Mondo sangria; cheers to that! The appetizers we ordered, wings and risotto balls, were just OK and generic. Once we got seated, we ordered three pizzas; the tomato basil regular red pie as well as the truffle artisan pie and sausage and pistachio. Out of the three, I enjoyed the tomato basil the best. The artisan pies we ordered had such a heavy cream sauce that I only had two small slices. Normally at pizza restaurant, I scarf down three or four slices(please don’t judge). This morning I had the remaining two slices and thought it was just okay. In the Krust vs. Mondo battle, I have to say I prefer Krust. I just like the hip ambience more at Krust. My husband actually prefers Mondo. Nonetheless, I had a great time there with the another couple my husband and I regularly double date with! Middletown is becoming my favorite commercial hub in CT!

I absolutely love this place! Had a wedding to attend nearby, while waiting for the reception went here on a whim with my family. The food was ridiculously good– especially the wings and the Waldorf salad. I’m traveling to Middletown again soon so I can relive all it’s glory. TIP: The REDSANGRIA is THEBEST!!! I have been craving it since. Eat here– the atmosphere and the food is awesome!

Mondo’s always delivers. We stopped for lunch and I had the Mondo greens and a slightly modified Ozzie white pizza with mozzarella, romano, drizzled arugula, egg and truffle oil. Delicious! Great casual atmosphere. Coming to Mondo from out of town is a treat.
