Microtel Inn & Suites Middletown Wallkill

This is not a «4-​star» hotel, per say, but I give it 4 stars!
We stayed in Microtel for a couple nights recently, and we enjoyed our stay. The hotel had all the necessities, and the staff was friendly and accommodating.
The hotel is simple without any extravagant amenities besides continental breakfast, but it was very clean and had everything we needed. For $ 85 a night (booking on Expedia), we felt that it was a reasonable price for what they provided. Compared to other hotels in the area, it was veryyy reasonably priced — it was difficult to find places to stay near Mountain Creek that weren’t crazily overpriced.
The location was also great — right off the highway so we could make our way to the mountain easily (and without getting lost), easy access to multiple restaurants (Chili’s, TGI Friday’s, Soho, Outback) right across the street or parking lot. Some of them close somewhat early, but we were able to go out for drinks at TGI Friday’s pretty late at night and walk right back to the hotel in just a couple minutes — super convenient, no driving.

As Cathy C. states in her review, the hotel is in a great location. It’s right off the highway with Friday’s and Outback literally in the back parking lot and Soho and Chili’s across the road.
Everyone was friendly and pleasant, from the woman who checked us in to the Front Office Manager, Frank Corrigan, who we met as we were checking out.
Pets are welcome at this location.
My husband and I were in the area for one night so we got a room with a queen-​size bed. It was a fairly small room, very clean. (We didn’t need anything big or fancy, since all we going to do there was sleep and we’d be out of the room for most of the time we were there.) The bed was very comfortable. Room also had a desk and an armoire, with a flat-​screen tv on top of the armoire.
The bathroom was nice and big and bright, with a shower/​tub combination, huge mirror, and a hair dryer.
Free wifi was offered, with no password needed.
In the morning there was a free continental breakfast. Everything was hot and fresh.

Great place to bring a one night stand or just to get your sexual frustrations out with your wife away from the kids. The room I stayed in had mirrors throughout the room. Very cool. Me and my girlfriend loved it. Stayed here after a long night of drinking across the street on New Year’s Eve. I got up to take a shower and it clearly wasn’t cleaned. But I didn’t care I was hungover as a b*tch. Great place to sneak out and check yourself out in the mirror while your wife is evaluating the great comfort of the bed. Will definitely come here again. At $ 130 per night for a cruise-​ship-​sized, economy-​class room in the middle of nowhere, this place is grossly overpriced. The local chain hoteliers bet on the idea that you won’t want to stay at one of the lesser joints. Therefore, if you want a safe, relatively clean place to stay in this area and do not want to spend even more money, the Microtel is about it. But it’s nothing special.

This hotel is located in a great area. TGI Fridays/​Outback is right out the back and Soho bar and grill/Chilli’s is directly in front. Most important thing is the rooms are extremely CLEAN!!! Stayed here multiple times

You won’t hear about this in the media, but Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Middletown hates us with a hatred so steady and deadly that it consumes in it all sense of time and place. What follows is a set of observations I have made about the most irritable hell-​raisers you’ll ever see. In its annual report on incomprehensible, lackluster incidents, the government concluded that if you think you can escape from Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Middletown’s deranged soliloquies, then good-​bye and good luck. To the rest of you I suggest that bitter freaks of nature are like putty in its hands. Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Middletown effortlessly molds them into loyal eulogists who don’t think twice about humiliating, subjugating, and eventually eliminating everyone who wants to provide a trenchant analysis of its rantings.
Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Middletown’s spinmeisters claim to have no choice but to cast dissent as treason and criticism as espionage. I wish there were some way to help these miserable, vainglorious proponents of escapism. They are outcasts, lost in a world they didn’t make and don’t understand. Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Middletown wants me to stop trying to get it off our backs. Instead, it’d rather I run around like a chicken with its head cut off. Sorry, but I don’t accept defeat that easily. I think I’ve dished it out to Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Middletown as best as I can in this letter. I hope you now understand why I say that Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Middletown is secretly plotting an offensive against the entire world.

This hotel is nice for the price. Area is nice and peaceful. Outback Steak house & TGIF Fridays in the same parking lot. So far so good. Rooms are clean!

I drove from Baltimore non-​stop and arrived at this «hotel» around 11pm to check in on June 15^th, 2012. I was exhausted from driving and was looking forward to getting checked-​in, settled, check my email and have a nice relaxing sleep. NONE OF THIS HAPPENED. I checked in, was given a room and key card, and this is where it all started. I proceeded to my (1^st) room and the room was not bad, but it was directly across from an insanely loud nightclub. I tried to stay positive and thought the air conditioner might mask the noise long enough for me to fall asleep. Well, the A/​C didn’t work. I called the front desk and talked with the desk manager and he said he would be right up. He did come up and verified that the A/​C was not working. He told me he would get me another room and that he would be back. I repacked my things and met him downstairs. (keep in mind this is after I filled the ice bucket, got something to drink, got changed into PJs, etc. I had to get redressed, and repack, etc. So, downstairs I told him I would like ANYTHING on the rear of the building, away from this crazy-​loud nightclub with booooooming music. (Even sit behind a car with booming music at a stop light??) I could actually make the songs out from the room. I told him I would pay for ANY ROOM, ANY SIZE, suite, double bed, didn’t matter, even though it was just me. He told me that he had NOT ONE ROOM available on the back of the facility, even though the parking lot was not full (and yes, I did drive around the facility when I arrived).
He then assigned me to a second room. This room was right below the first room and again was directly across from the Nightclub. I went into the room, got settled, checked the A/​C, fetched another bucket of ice, etc. I then started to hear a bunch of noise from the neighbor, sounded like loud talking into a phone, profanity, etc. At this point I packed my things up and proceeded down to the front desk. I told the desk attendant that I was disgusted with the whole experience and was going somewhere else. It was now about 12:15AM and I was exhausted from first the drive and then dealing with all of this nonsense. He pleaded with me to let him get me another room and I was ready to walk out, but I was tired and the last thing I wanted to do was go on a hunt for another room. I should have left!
So, he assigned me to a 3^rd room. Even after the unfolding of this entire debacle, he still would not assign me to a room on the back of the facility. I figured at this point I might have had a good chance, but I was wrong. This time he assigned me to a ground floor room, again almost directly across from the nightclub. (In fairness, the desk attendant was professional) At this point it was about 12:45AM until I got in and started to get settled. This room had a very bright light outside of the window, although the room-​darkening curtains did seem to block most of it… and at this point I did not have the fight remaining in me. I had to get some sleep because the next day I had a 10 hour event to attend and then had to drive back to Baltimore, directly after the event. I finally got to sleep around 3AM. I did not sleep well at all, if fact I was 1.5 hours late for my event the next morning.
Note — Regarding the rooms, the carpet appeared to be «damp» in two of the rooms, walls are very thin, rooms are small. Old tube type TVs. Wifi speed was not fast. Elevators looked worn. Water pressure is good!
Upon checking out, I asked to speak with the manager. The current desk attendant (different from the one when I checked in) told me the manager was not there and would be in later. I then explained what had happened (to the new desk attendant) and that I was totally disgusted with the experience. While she did appear to listen with interest, the only thing she would offer is a 10% discount. I told her that I thought that was ridiculous, and again requested for the manager to contact me. I did not hear back from the manager, still to this day.
They sent an automated survey to me by email and I ignored the first request. The system must have automatically sent me another one and I did not respond for about 10 days. I decided to fill it out thinking that someone might actually respond. That was a few weeks ago and I have not heard a thing from anyone! My survey response was accurate, concise and complete, much like this review. I still to this day have not heard a word from this location, their manager or Microtel corporate. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!

UPDATE! They contacted me and offered a 50% refund and a free voucher to stay one night in the future… I think that was nice try, but I could only use the voucher at this location… which I will never be in that town again. They were too cheap to pay for a voucher at any location. FAIL!

Spent 2 weeks here recently after a small disaster at the house. We stayed in 3 different rooms, a single queen, a double queen and also a suite with Kitchenette. All 3 rooms were nice and clean and the rates are unbeatable.
The staff was mostly friendly (there was one front desk person who was upset by the fact that I booked through
, minus one star). The cleaning service is great and our room cleaned and made up daily.
The free continental breakfast is a plus, but they need to get smaller bread because it doesn’t fit in the toaster. You have to toast half of your bread and then flip it over and toast the other half :-)
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family looking to stay in the area. It’s also within walking distance of Chili’s, Outback Steakhouse and TGI Fridays.
Oh and there is free Internet but connectivity can be sketchy.
