Langtry Estate & Vineyards

We stopped here after seeing this place on the Lake County wine map. Jose was very personable, friendly and knew quite a bit about the wines. Not all of the wines were to our liking, but we did have some great conversation with Jose and he made our visit a pleasure.

Absolutely love this winery! The staff are not only knowledgeable about their wine and the history of the estates, but are the friendliest folks you’ll meet! We are wine club members, and each time we come here are treated with kindness and hospitality as if we are visiting old family members!
Now, onto the wine. The wine is some of the best in the county! The Sav. Blanc is to die for, and I do not like white wine! The late harvest is delicious, as is the port! If you’re looking for a great Lake County Cabernet look no further. The Langtry Cab is better than any Cab you are going to find in Napa, and it’s ½ the price!
If you’re in the area, stop by, drink some great wine and enjoy the company!

We came across this place while traveling to Middletown, the sign said tasting room open til 5, it was 4:40 but we thought we would see if we could sneak a tasting in. When we got up the hill the tasting room was closed due to a special event, but as we turned away, thirsty and sad, an amazing lady came out and offered us a glass of wine and was very apologetic for the inconvenience. She let us hang out outside and enjoy the beautiful day while sipping a glass of their delicious cab. Then we were greeted by a gentleman (her husband I think and also maybe winemaker… Scott) to give us another glass because it tastes like peaches and my husband is from Georgia we highly recommend this place… beautiful views from the hilltop, fire tables, cornhole, great wine and two of the nicest people we have met in the area. Stop on by, you won’t regret it!

Happened upon this place after a hike at Robert Lewis Stevenson park. It’s one of the few wineries near Twin Pines Casino. Scott Allen was there to pour many wines and chat with us. Very personable and knowledgable, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Not to mention the delicious wines! Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back. Good prices, great wine, nice people.

This place is only 45 minutes scenic drive from St. Helena, so don’t be afraid to head up to Lake County! Beautiful elevated picnic grounds too.
We have been coming here for many years and really enjoy the moderately priced wines which are often hard to find in shops. So the experience is to see some really good bottles in their element! The staff in the tasting room is just terrific and the grounds spectacular. We even got a peek at some different wines in barrel tasting which was a treat.

We were staying in Pope Valley for the long weekend, so luckily for us the drive wasn’t far at all. Even if it had been, this was worth it!
There was only one other couple there when we arrived, so Scotty took us back for a tour and barrel tasting — the Pinot Grigio we tried was amazing, so pineapple forward! We all loved the Cab too — it probably won’t be bottled for another year or two, but it’s going to be outstanding.
Staff was incredible, and the estate was gorgeous even on an overcast winter afternoon. If you have a reason to be nearby, don’t skip this.

This winery has a surprisingly large tasting room in a sprawling building atop a ridge outside of tiny Middletown in remote Lake County. AKA the middle of nowhere. Jose, one of the assistant managers, was enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge of wine with us and discussing favorite food recipes. Many of Langtry’s wines are reasonably priced, so it was easy to justify buying a few to take home.

Yes, this place is as good as it gets. The scenery is ABSOLUTELY stunning and beautiful. It is kept clean and polished like new. A very pleasant place to be. When we walked in, we were greeted kindly by two friendly, very likable gentlemen, one of which; Jose, turned out to be our host. I couldn’t have chosen a better person to guide us around the estate and vineyards. He explained everything and was able to pass the test by answering all of my mother’s questions thoroughly and correctly. My mother can be a hard one to please, but early on in the trip Jose racked up bonus points with my family by simply being who he is. He treated us like family and we had a great time. My parents already recommended this place to others and I would do the same. They were generous with the wine and knew exactly how to move from wine to wine smoothly. Jose was definitely knows his wines, very knowledgable in the industry. We couldn’t have had a better experience, truly.

I live in Lake County only 10 miles from Langtry winery. I have visited their tasting room more than once and appreciate the wonderful veranda and beautiful country surroundings. However, the last two visits have left me with a taste of sour wine. We tasted on two different occations some delicious wines and them purchased what we thought were the same wines to enjoy at home. On both occations, when we opened the wines at home, they were nothing like the ones we sampled. We could not even consume them. We poured one out and are attempting to use the other to cook with. Neither of these wine were inexpensive! Too say we are disappointed would be an understatement. I am not sure if this is a practice of bait and switch or if their tasting room workers are just ignorant or undertrained, but we will never visit this winery again no matter what! If you go, enjoy the experience, but do NOT!!! buy any wine as you will be more than disappointed when you open the bottle up at home and taste a wine you did not expect or sample.

I know this will sound crazy but it was like visiting a favorite relative! From the moment we walked in, we were treated like family by Jose! He did a great job explaining the different wines (from white to red and on to Port — which was exceptional… as was the Petite Sarah). The drive was beautiful and the location — absolutely perfect for a picnic because the views were exceptional. I highly recommend this winery!!!

We went to the back of the valley property, slowly and respectfully. You can see a cinder cone outcropping and a beautiful old estate home from the main road. No problems to take a quick look and not bother anyone. Be sure to read up about the history of Lilli Langtry on the internet. Bring a picnic and enjoy the picnic tables on the top of the hill with a view of the lake across the road. The wine is very good here and they have a very well run operation. It’s never super busy so the tasters can take care of you like you have a private reservation. And lastly, I will point out that the drive is beautiful by way of Pope Valley Road. Yeah, there’s a fire that went through there recently. But even that is eerily beautiful.

We went there after Kuleto. The trip along Childs Pope Valley Road is long, but so picturesque I would highly recommend it to those who enjoy the beauty of wine country as much as they do the wine.
Once there, Scotty and Jose made us feel so welcome. Scotty’s engaging demeanor and breadth of knowledge was incredible.
They wereso accommodating. They even hooked us up with a tablecloth for the picnic lunch that we brought along and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc that was amazing.
It was nice to hear how appreciative they were to be part of the Foley Family.

Gorgeous views, great wines and an incredible staff. It’s certainly a drive to get to Langtry, but once you arrive you’ll know it was worth every minute.

This is a gorgeous find. If you’re lucky to have Cliff, he’ll go above and beyond to help serve very nice wine and conversation. We splurged and Cliff and the high quality of this winery truly made our day. We weren’t sure what we’re in for and as soon as we went through the doors, it was superb. Loved it and we love Cliff!

We gave Langtry a second change and we were very happy with our experience. The staff in the tasting room was excellent and we enjoyed their wine. Absolutely love their view! We will most likely visit them again.

This is a stunning winery and a fantastic tasting room. It’s a favorite place for me to bring guests because of the high quality wine, excellent hospitality, fun, informative tour, and stunning location. Whether or not you drink wine, this is a beautiful place to visit.

Gorgeous views and sophisticated wines! We had the tour/​tasting. At first, I was a little concerned when no one seemed to know about our tour or be prepared for it. However, they found someone, and boy was it well worth it (I also found out they had had a gathering the night before that had mentally wiped out the staff… to excuse the temporary lapse of memory). The tour director was so knowledgeable, and I could tell a real lover of winemaking. We learned a lot and were actually the only ones on the tour. Also, as I said, all the wines were sophisticated and balanced. There was nothing that bit me in the face. Even varieties I tend to not like were worth tasting. Also, it is almost worth visiting just for the beautiful sceneries and views. There was a couple there having a picnic, and it seemed like a pretty good idea!

This was my Second visit to Langtry Estates and Winery and was even better than the first!
The setting is exquisite. The wine is equaled to the setting. My fave is the 2007 Cab. Stunning.
Jose, the Tasting Room Manager is a sheer delight. He was a perfect host, went above and beyond to ensure we had a special experience.
We had the great good fortune to see crush as the truck pulled up, delivered petite syrah grapes into the crusher, into the tanks and expelling the stems. Exciting! Can’t wait to try the 2013 Wine!

Fabulous! I live in Hawaii, but was in Sacramento on vacation and really wanted to go to Napa to Langtry… MY FAVORITE WINE EVER!!!
I convinced my mom to drive out there with me, and we had the best time.
I was so excited to be there, seeing that I’m a #1 fan of the Guenoc Sauvignon Blanc for several years now, and was going to make it to Langtry one of these days. Well that day has come, and I’m going to go back for sure!
Not only is the landscape around the vinyard so beautiful, it is just relaxing and quiet. Scotty, the guy running the tasting room was so much fun to talk to and treated me like royalty. When I told him I came from Hawaii and drove all the way out there just to their winery, he took me in the back, and poured me a glass of Guenoc Sauvignon Blanc straight out of the steel drum that was going to be bottled the next day!!! Amazing!!! So delicious!!! Best experience ever!
After I bought all my Guenoc & Langtry souvineers, I left the happiest camper ever!
Sadly, I had to ship my wine home to Hawaii via USPS, and the 2006 Meritage I purchased broke. No bueno!!! At least I still have my Langtry Marsanne Day bottle of wine left. I’m just afraid to drink it, because I won’t be able to get anymore while I’m in Hawaii.
I will go back, and I’ll bring my husband next time!
