I needed to get dinner somewhere and I had already stopped at the strip mall where Harper’s is for something else. So I stopped in and got a 12″ Italian. I usually eat half of a sandwich that size and save the other half for lunch the following day. I avoid tomatoes and oil because it makes for a soggy sandwich the next day. The bread is spectacular. Big air bubbles, very fresh with a toasty, but not too hard, crust. The amount of ingredients is substantial, but it was packed tightly so it didn’t fall apart. The onions were perfect, not too strong, not too mild, cut into small pieces so you don’t end up pulling out a long piece that slaps you on the chin. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the crushed peppers added a little too much moisture to the sandwich, probably making it a little soggy for tomorrow. I will be back, again and again

Judge my review how you must… I’m a food industry family kid… great grand mother, grandfather, mom and dad, my self as well as my children… I rate on «would I go back»…answer-yes…average speed for handmade sub… very neat and clean… friendly but not smother you with fakeness service… great lunch meats and a nice piquant provelone on my Italian 12″ that was more like 18″… I am Sicilian and weigh 275… I was all set with some to spare… talaricos type pepper spread was nice and hot, roll was great… Not atv but not subway either… ignore the other bad roll comments, my dad is completing master Baker classes this fall at king Arthur… this was a good sub shop roll… go here and eat well. Yay for me… now what… NAPTIME haha

So I was driving all the way from NYC down towards Norfolk in May 15, 2015. My family was with me — 5 adults and unlike VA there aren’t as many rest areas and restaurant located on the interstate which our GPS took on. So we were looking for a restaurant since last 20 mins, and happen to see Harper’s off the 301. Honestly, it didn’t look too promising from outside, but we were in dire need of food, rest and restrooms. To our surprise, their staff was very courteous. We ordered Chicken and Turkey sandwich. The best part was that their bread was freshly prepared from fresh dough everyday and baked right there. To top it all, they also had freshly made lemonade, with free refills. We loved it there.

Don’t expect the red carpet treatment. When a restaurant separates me from my money, I want to feel happy about it. I felt like I was an imposition. I was greeted with a sad-faced sandwich man:(The men working there(owners?) never really greeted me. Store had one other customer at the time but the tables were dirty. I found the only clean one and enjoyed what was a good sub. Their bread, meat and cheese is high quality but menu is nothing exceptional. While I ate, the two men were busily surfing the Internet on a laptop the entire time instead of cleaning the dirty tables ! Never was any customer thanked or asked if they were enjoying the food or if there was anything they could get them. If I had a sub shop, I would ask people if they wanted chips or a cookie or something to go with it, but they never did. They know nothing about sales, customer satisfaction or retention. I won’t be back since you never have a second chance to make a first impression. I bring my clients lunch several times per week so they just lost substantial potential income. I don’t see them making it. As I left the store, I thought they would say goodbye it thank you, but they said nothing!

Clumsy service. Guy didn’t know what was on an American sub. Average sandwich. Doughy bread. I went in wanting to be impressed but I was not impressed at all. Ioannoni’s is a good sandwich. Capriotti’s is a good sandwich. This place-meh.

Great stop. Bread /Rolls are homemade and great. 6″ is as big as others 12″ but fresh sliced. Soups are homemade also. Just small and not much room to sit if they are busy. We will be a regular — on our way to OceanCity

This place is phenomenal!!! A perfect stop on the way to the beach. The subs are HUGE and fresh, fresh, fresh! My only complaint is the hours… they’re not open very late, I believe 7:30 is the latest. Will visit again soon!

Great alternative to all the chain places in Middletown. Great sandwiches, lots of choices and friendly staff. Yum. We’ll definitely come back.

My husband and I stopped in here last week, but didn’t end up ordering anything. While we were waiting in line we both noticed that NONE of the employees wore gloves, and one of them didn’t wash their hands after handling money. One of the girls working there also did not have her hair tied back, which my husband and I both find very unsanitary considering they are working with food. We were very disappointed because we had been hearing good things about their food, but we couldn’t stomach the thought of someone not washing their hands before touching our food, or risking someones hair in our food.

Unassuming, but so much to boast. This place is a REAL sandwich shop… offering freshly baked bread, delicious meats thinly sliced, an amazing array of toppings. The staff is friendly, and to boot, they have some super sweet dogs that we were lucky enough to meet. I really hope this place does well and attracts good business… even if it isn’t close by, it is well worth the drive! I know whenever I’m in Delaware again, I will be hoping that we will be within range of this place.

This place is not the fanciest place in the world, nothing exotic or anything like that. But good bread, wide variety of delicious meats and cheeses and fresh toppings make for a great sandwich. I was here on business for 2 weeks — ate there everyday, sometimes twice a day, don’t think I had teh same combination of meat/cheese/bread/toppings once. And they were all fantastic. Highly recommend this place, downside is they’re closed on Sunday, but hey, it’s a sandwich, you can buy it on Saturday and throw it in the fridge! Great little shop, run by what appears to be a couple brothers or old time friends — but it was good enough to get me to create their business and write this review!
