I had an amazing experience in this store. I felt welcomed, smiles all around from the serving staff and helpful. The are so respectful and went the extra mile to help me out.

And it gets better… I called the store after the Chili Mac and Cheese debacle and was assured I’d have a 5 Way credit under my name. Went there today to find no such credit exists. «Credit only good for 30 days. What you want?» I said, «No thank you. I’ll drive an extra 10 miles to visit Skyline.» It’s like I said SATAN on a Sunday. If you go to this Gold Star you’re just an idiot. Beware. Stay Away. Stay Away. Stay Away. Dishonest and bad at food service. What a bad combination.

When the weather is good, I visit Gold Star a couple of times a month. It’s funny that I don’t go for chili that often, but that’s mainly because I can buy the 15 ounce cans at Meijer for $ 2.99 and they’re nearly twice as large as what I get at the restaurants. The best thing I’ve found is the Burrito Bowl, and I say that with confidence over the similar bowls at Chipotle(Chipukely!) or Hot Head Burritos. Not only is it better for you than chili alone, but they also have Tex-Mex style chili.(Sorry, but I don’t like Chipotle, and I was there yesterday to pick up something for a friend who couldn’t get away from work. That visit reminded me that I don’t care for the place.) So, I stopped at this location on SR73, just west of SR4, listed as Middletown, but near Trenton. It just seems an odd place but it’s next to Speedway and across from Kroger. If you could see it from SR4, the location would make more sense to me. I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door, and I took a seat at the counter. This must be a newer design, as the drinks are between the counter and the dining room. It seemed a good layout. I ordered the Burrito Bowl with the Tex-Mex chili, black olives, and the Firehouse spice pack. (The woman working the drive-thru kept asking people«do you want Firehouse on it?» If someone asked me that, I’d reply«huh?» as people did. She didn’t explain what it was – ever. Maybe, she was having a bad day, but it seemed that she didn’t want to work.) Being at the counter, the woman preparing the food asked me(thankfully!) if I wanted sour cream, which I did not. The extra spices added just the right taste to make it good without being uselessly, tastelessly spicy the way Hot Head Burritos does. The waitress even went the extra bit and asked me if I wanted a Mountain Dew to go, which surprised me because I haven’t seen that a lot lately. It’s good to see that most people care about what they’re doing there, and they’re willing to give you a better experience along with the best food they have.
