I’ve never really been a fan of soft ice-cream because it’s what I get at MickeyDEEZ ____. But the vanilla soft serve here is pretty freaking great. It has a hint of milky flavor which really helps make it unique. The hard ice-cream here is wonderful as well. There is a wide variety of flavors but in the end I opted for the German Chocolate Cake and the Peanut Butter Cups. Both flavors were on the money. Skip the expensive desserts you get at restaurants. Come here after your meal/dinner and enjoy everything Frosty Freez has to offer.

Great ice cream and family place. Few downfalls are small parking lot, cash only, and small selection of flavors to choose from. Otherwise I would give it four stars. Way better than Newport creamery.

Stopped to check this place out after an afternoon at the beach, and it turned out to be an excellent decision. The line wrapped around towards the back but moved really quickly. It seemed like there was a good selection of hard ice creams and soft serve at very good prices — between around $ 1.50 and $ 3 depending on the size. I got the vanilla soft serve with chocolate dip coating, and it was definitely one of the better soft serves that I’ve had. They also have other toppings(sprinkles, nuts, cherry dip) and an option for flavor-burst which swirls extra flavors into the soft serve. All in all an awesome ice cream shop!

Now this is the place to get ice cream on Aquidneck Island. Drive past every other place, you won’t be disappointed. Their soft serve is awesome and they have lots of different variations. It’s the Garelick super-premium 10% butterfat soft-serve mix — no wonder it tastes so awesome! The ice cream is very creamy and delicious. They serve a variety of Bliss Dairy, Gifford’s, and Hershey’s Creamery ice cream. During peak hours there’s a line wrapped around the building, but it moves quickly and is worth the wait. My only complaint is that they are only open in the summer — I guess because all the staff are teenagers, but come on. We eat more ice cream in the winter than in the summer. At least give us limited hours in the winter — closing in September is just too early.

You know winter is over when FF reopens for the season. I treat myself to an Only 8 swirl in a cup. The yogurt is relatively healthy compared to the frozen yogurt you might get at the store. Not sure how it compares to more expensive places to get frozen yogurt. After FF closes in October, I seem to find a handful of punch cards with enough for a free yogurt. I tell myself I will remember to redeem my old punch cards next summer, but I never do. Frosty Freez is fantastic; much better than the Newport Creamery. I like my shakes thick, not runny!

Very accommodating place! They make the icecream the way you want it… Any combination… Best icecream… Double whipped cream cone with coffee and coconut chocolate almond.(get the small size), the large one looked like the Pisa tower. Lol

Best selection of ice cream in the area. Usually always has a long line but it moves pretty fast. I recommend vanilla soft serve dipped in strawberry hard shell(YUM!)

Wow, amazing soft serve. I went with my classic vanilla softserve cone with rainbow sprinkles, and my husband got one of their homemade ice cream sandwiches. The softserve is rich and creamy, not plastic-y feeling, and the sandwich cookies were soft and bite-able without weird tooth effects. Ample parking(even given the huge line of obnoxious preteens in front of us), with outdoor umbrella tables that we bypassed for our car, since it was drizzling. Definitely recommended for a midafternoon treat.

I could eat dinner here every night from April til October and have something different! I love Frosty Freeze, not just because I’ve known the owners for years, but because its an Island tradition, the customer service is always awesome and the ice cream/treats are the absolute best. Make sure you have cash on you just in case, cause I’m pretty sure its still cash only. They have a great variety, slushies, hard ice cream(its Hershey’s, but its still good) plenty of soft serve, frozen yogurt so you don’t feel guilty, as well as milkshakes, malts, and Blizzards(i think they’re called something else though, but the coffee with brownie mixed in is a just too good!) they also have tshirts and gift certificates, I love gift certificates to Frosty Freeze! The employees are always friendly, service is fast, so don’t be discouraged if you see the line wrapped around the building, it’ll move fast and you’re sure to see someone you know to chat with to pass the time! So don’t pass up a trip to Frosty Freeze, its the best on the island. and its tradition!!!

If you were born on the island, one of the major food groups is Frosty Freez. It just is a fact. I cannot drive by Frosty Freez and not stop. and the bad part is that it’s mostly when I leave the gym or yoga. It replaces my dinner most days in the summer. While they have lots of flavors for hard icecream, you definitely need to get the soft serve here. They serve Hershey’s ice-cream, Be prepared to always wait in a line, but it moves fast and its worth it. The prices are super cheap. It is a MUST.

I love Frosty Freez. No, I cannot leave off the«e» and now I will have to check the sign to see if the«e» is there! I used to be a Newport Creamery Fan, but I switched. I like Frosty Freeze above any place else in Middletown(including Sweet Berry) & if you judge by the constant flow of happy customers, I am not alone. And, it is cheap! And, the young kids who pay for the college educations in part by working there are always friendly, so helpful, and fast. It is a Middletown institution. Yep, love.

All about one thing here: the soft serve How good is it? My kid attends a daycare up the road a couple of miles. Or used to I should say as they closed it for summer renovations. Since I’m now making excuses to detour up there for this Island treat, my kid is chiding me for what was once our occasional drop-in spot. My 3yr old dishing it out, how quickly they grow up! RI summer’s and the muggy hot weather mean ice cream is always in orders. Serve it up here(not at Newport Creamery). No disappointments here.

Last stop of the day for what turned out to be a rather nice birthday. Was my second trip to an ice cream stand on the day and all I had here was a vanilla soft serve. It was good.

Repeat after me, «Coffee-Vanilla Swirl with Peanut Brittle in a Wafer Cone turned upside down in a cup.» It’s the only thing I’ve ordered here but I’ve literally placed that same order hundreds of times during the last two and a half decades. Out-of-towners might not get the hype over a bunch of teenagers serving up Hershey’s Ice Cream but a stop at Frosty Freez in your bathing suit and towel, with your hair still wet and salty from the beach is a quintessential Aquidneck Island summer activity. Beware: Parking is crappy at best and the line can get 100 deep. CASHONLY!

It simply isn’t summer without having Frosty Freez. Locals rejoice when April 1st comes around every year, and usually you will never see the line shorter than 10 people during the day or night, rain or shine. Yes, that is a sign that it is a beloved establishment on the island, and yes it is really good. I will agree with everyone that their soft serve ice cream is awesome! My favorite is the coffee vanilla swirl(The coffee soft serve is made with Autocrat syrup; Rhode Islanders should be all over this!). They also have some unique hard ice cream flavors, like German Chocolate Cake, mmm… Word to the wise: Frosty Freez’s parking lot really sucks to park in, probably because it is the same lot back from 50 years ago. However, if you park in the more convenient lot with the traffic light in front of the Grape Room, you might get a ticket. Police lately have been ticketing cars who aren’t using the lot for the restaurant. I will forever be a lifetime fan of Frosty Freez!

After a day at the beach this place is a must stop! I definitely would recommend the soft serve over hard ice cream(it’s Hershey’s so nothing too special). Vanilla soft serve with chocolate dip is my usual and it’s always yummy! The line is usually super long in the summer but it moves quickly. There is some outdoor seating or you can eat it in the car. I dare say this is the most popular spot for ice cream on the island.

Two words to get all you yankee Unilocalers in here — Mocha Shake. Ask for this unadvertised special with chocolate soft-serve and coffee syrup. The exchange students from France were glad the volcano stranded them over the extra weekend – they all got extra visits here.
