If you want to sit through commercial after commercial after commercial — and I’m not talking about coming attractions, which most people like, this is the theater for you! We walked out and got our money back after being held hostage to the long barrage of «tv» commercials you have to endure before the movie. NOT worth it!

Just wanted to let everyone know that Destinta is closed, but new owners have taken over and it’s now called R/C Metro Movies 12. And it’s much better!

This statement is going to sound stupid: but people, this place is never going to be the Plainville Loews. BUT If you live in Middletown like me, and want to walk your butt to the movies, Destinta is it. They have great prices for their matinée movies, and every Tuesday they have $ 6 movies all day. Yes I’ll admit when I first moved to Middletown via Chicago & West Hartford, I had this moment of «I can’t believe I live here and this is my movie theater my life is over I will never again watch movies in comfort and swag.» And then I got over myself and realized if you just want to go to the movies, this will do. It’s never crowded, always a greatly stocked snack bar, and a great selection of movies(and we get 3D here!) You get what you pay for — so if you want to have that $ 15 a ticket experience, drive yourself up Route 9 to another movie theater or take Destinta for what it is — your run of the mill small town movie theater! *They do not post movie times on the outside of the theater(I wish they did).

I remember the glory days of eating at Burger King and walking across the parking lot to go see the awesome, new Pokemon movie at awesome, new Destinta. Alas, Burger King is gone and Destinta has become a ghost town of sorts. The building is littered with concession stands that haven’t been opened in years. Against your wishes, chairs recline to a horizontal position. Wayward teens act overall annoyingly during your get-away time at the movies. Concessions charge an outrageous fee. What happened to the new, awesome Destinta?

This is our favorite place to see movies! It’s not the best picture quality and the soda is always flat and usually we are the only people in the entire theater but we still like it :)

The one thing this theater has going for it is that it’s the only one in a 15 mile radius. It used to be small, but quaint. Now it’s just disgusting. We were in theater nine, and it was filthy. Several seats had plastic bags over the back. I sat down next to one of them and saw a cascade of dried vomit on the bottom part of the seat that wasn’t covered. Bathrooms are also gross. This place has gone way downhill in the past few years. I hate to have to drive to another town to see a movie, but I just don’t think I can stomach this place anymore. One last thing, concessions are ridiculously priced — five dollars for a small soda.

Very mediocre movie theatre. The screens are small except for one, Theatre 1. I would never consider going to this theatre unless the movie I am seeing is playing in theatre 1, because it is a very large screen. All the other screens however stink. Showcase Cinemas in Berlin is about 8 minutes away from Middletown on Route 9 and is a superior movie theatre in every way. Destinta needs a makeover ASAP.

I’m going to pass on Destinta… I think it’s sad that two Middletown police officers have to take overtime jobs here on a Friday and Saturday night to make sure that the wanna-be Bloods and Crips of Middletown don’t get out of hand instead of going home when the street lights turn on. I hate having to walk past a police scuffle with a crowd of 12 kids just to buy a ticket to a movie. The seats are not comfortable, the popcorn is stale and overpriced, the soda is almost always flat. For a nicer theater experience, there are many other options all about 15 – 20 minutes away.

I mainly like this theater because the matinée and regular showings are cheaper than Hartford and Southington. But who knows, things are always going up in price. It’s a good movie theater, but is never crowded or too busy. I never get snacks because they are always expensive at all theaters!

Destinta is the local movie theatre here in Middletown. Its nice that its not some huge chain theatre but its not a quaint artsy 2 screener either. 12 Screens here in Middletown, that’s a lot for a non-big-name place. Destinta owns 6 other theaters, this is the only one in CT. Really it’s like every other theater — popcorn costs too much, tickets aren’t cheap enough, seats arent comfortable enough — but its where you go in Middletown to see movies.
