Guitar repair was awesome! The new guy Tom is amazing. I have been playing guitar for 29 years and I will tell you, he is one of the best in the business! He can dial in anything you want or need on your guitar. He is definitely a keeper in my book! I have many high end guitars that I only trust with Professionals. Tom is one of them! He definitely knows his craft!

Was in there yesterday with my daughter. Man, I love this place. I was talking to one of the employees there for a bit… getting info on a new guitar for shows. his knowledge was excellent. He actually helped me out, set me up to try some guitars. was very nice to my daughter (which is a huge thing for me). It was just an overall great experience. I’ve been going here since I was a kid. Every guitar I get is through Alto. I own 9 now. Def recommend if you’re a musician!!!

Bought a kit last weekend, used. Hadn’t even played it yet. Had a gig scheduled a week later. Went in to Alto for sticks. Came out with the drum kit of my dreams and service that blew my mind. Anyone wanna buy my used drumkit?
I have been drumming, as of this writing, for 37+ years. The one thing I never did in all that time was buy a brand new kit, one which was bought for features I wanted as opposed to pricing. Then I walked into Alto and there it was, not only brightly lit under the lights in a color I had never seen but had always imagined, but also priced about a quarter of what I thought it would cost me «some day» when I finally decided to buy and had the finances to do it!
Beyond that, Dan in the drum department went way out of his way to accommodate. He saw the look in my eyes and my reaction when I walked over to it and I could tell we were on the same page. Despite the dilemma of having bought a kit the weekend before, he heped me make it possible and less than 24 hours later, the kit is in the car and on its way to tonight’s gig! Drummers, if you go there, ask for Dan.
That kind of caring and service is getting scarce and I cherish it when I stumble upon it.
Judging by looks, this store has the look of the «box store» everyone talks about (which never bothered me at all). It has box-​store pricing to. In fact I found their price even less than some of the top retailers, chain brick and mortor AND online. No exaggeration.
Well done Alto and thanks for delivering to me the kit of my dreams. It was so easy!

This is a fantastic store at many different levels. I went in because I am a guitar nut. Suffice to say, I wasn’t disappointed. It’s hard to tell where to start — the spectacularly wonderful selection of guitar accessories (I mean stuff that isn’t easy to acquire or find anywhere was here). A large selection of new guitars both for the beginner and more advanced players (think high end guitars). Really cool (and honest) staff as well as a huge selection of amps, mikes and just about everything else I could think of. I also loved the layout of this store. It’s very creative and made me want to explore other musical disciplines. My next Les Paul is absolutely coming from this store (and yes, I did make a small purchase while I was there). Recap: seasoned pro’s staffing the place, incredible selection across the board, well laid out store and musical areas and a no-​pressure environment that was unique and interesting. This place was a huge and very pleasant surprise!

What a great find! Being new to NY I came here not knowing anything about them. I went in looking to buy and new Yamaha electronic drum kit. I met with the drum manager named Dan. He was very helpful and got me set up with the kit I wanted, the DTX522k He even was able to hook me up with a deal on the kit and a double bass pedal. I highly recommend this store! I will be coming back for all my drum needs. Thanks Dan.

Back in 1997, I walked into Alto Music and asked for them for their recommendation of a good starter acoustic guitar. I had been looking at a whole bunch of guitars in the 300 – 400 range. I had no clue about guitars, and probably would have gone with anything they told me on blind faith. The sales rep asked me a bunch of questions about what style I liked to play, how I would use the guitar, and things that were important to me. He then recommended the Seagull S6 Original to me, telling me that it would easily be the best value guitar that I could possibly buy.
I took his word for it and bought it. 17 years later, this is still the acoustic guitar that I play, and its tone is even more beautiful than when I first got it (he told me that the tone would grow more rich as it aged too). The guitar is universally recommended in multiple articles about the best budget guitar as well, so Alto music made an amazing recommendation to me.
Just wanted to write this review to thank them for their recommendation 17 years ago to help me pick out my guitar. They couldn’t have done a better job!

I love Alto Music. I have been shopping here since I was a kid… a long time ago. Their customer service is second to none. The employees are always kind to me and very helpful. They truly have the greatest selection and best prices. ANYWHERE!

Best music instrument store in the entire Mid-​Hudson Valley area. I play drums/​percussion, and Donnie, the drum dept. manager is very knowledgable and very helpful. The building is huge, and each instrument has their own space. I detect no negative attitudes in there, maybe because there is a lot of space to breathe in. This is a great place for trying out instruments to hear what they sound like, and this is encouraged. It should be noted that Alto also has 2 other stores in Wappingers, and Monsey, but none as spacious as this one. The Wappingers store moved across the street, into a much larger space too, although not as big as this one. I certainly don’t miss the closet they were in. Getting back to Alto in Middletown, the selection is very good, and so are the prices. This is the place I go to when I need something.

I had a very specific guitar ordered, and Keith worked very closely with me, and worked tirelessly answering my emails at 10pm at night, they have great prices, and great service and a great selection
I liked them so much I am thinking of ordering a totally custom guitar thru them
