Just okay — we ordered fried rice, dumplings and a few other standard entrée dishes. The food was edible but I wouldn’t go back.

Great new sushi place. My husband and I came in for some sushi & Thai food. We ordered a few items and were pleasantly surprised. The Thai ice tea was very yummy, not too sweet. The avocado salad was crisp & fresh. The shrimp tempura roll was very good. We also tried the basil fried rice & chicken pad Thai. Both were nice size portions and actually could be good for two people. The waitress & manager was very courteous when they realized we had not finish the pad Thai cause it was a little more spicy than we were used to, they offered to make us a new one to take home(we had finished eating) but we were pretty full and really didn’t need more food. When we asked for the check they were very sweet and insisted on giving us an ice cream dish as a courtesy. Will definitely try them again next time we’re in the mood for sushi.

Great food and quick cooking. Take out is always great and sometimes they even give a free appetizer! Snow mountain roll and miso soup is my go to meal of choice.

My boyfriend and I love coming here. The sushi is amazing along with the ice cream tempura. There is a wide variety of sushi types and it always tastes fresh. Service can be slow but thats usually because there are a lot of people eating there since its so great !

I don’t recommend the sushi. Too much mayo. Spicy tuna roll was more like tunafish from a can. Always pay cash! two separate times the waitress(not friendly at all) added to the bill. Then when I left a cash tip decided to add a tip on my card as well. Won’t be going back.

I am in the middle with this place. We first ordered salmon skin seaweed salad. When it cam out, it was heavy on the mayo side and the skin was very soggy. Other sushi places we went too, skin was crispy. So this was a disappointment. I got the sushi platter. The sushi was okay. I had better from other places. I have to admit the fancy dragon roll with it made up for the sushi. My wife ordered the miso cod and this was the saving grace. I was okay/disappointed with my food. The cod was simply amazing. It was liquid butter to the mouth. This dish will make me come back. The other dishes I wouldn’t care for again.

Honestly the best sushi I’ve ever had. I like this place better than sono, sawa, sushi palace, heck even shibuya in Vegas. We eat here once a week(sometimes take out, sometimes delivery, sometimes dine in) and are never disappointed. The staff is really friendly and knows our order, never messes it up, and it’s never a long wait. Oh, and the spicy mayo is the best I’ve ever had(you guys should sell bottles of it!) Their menu is very diverse and offers all types of delicious Asian cuisine– but I’m so in love with the sushi I rarely try anything else. Matata for ever! :)

Matata has become my family’s favorite restaurant when we’re craving Asian, which is quite often. Matata has Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese food. The menu is truly expansive. I usually get sushi, and it’s consistently fresh and delicious. Last night I got the tiger roll and the crazy salmon roll, and both were awesome. The tiger roll has spicy tuna, avocado, and filet mignon on top. Typically places will charge an arm and a leg for a roll with filet mignon on it, but matata’s prices are extremely reasonable. Their tom yum soup is also exceptional. We’ve dined at matata, picked up, and gotten delivery. They are always very prompt. We’ve introduced many people to matata, and everyone agrees that it’s amazing. So happy that such a solid Asian fusion restaurant exists down the street from my parents’ house.

This place is amazing. Takes a lot for me to write a review. We go here friday nights after rock climbing and order a bunch of random apps and rolls. Highlights are the spicy tuna dumplings, goyza, shumai, rock shrimp, sushi pizza(have to get it), the wong tong soup(so good). All the sushi rolls have been amazing and wait staff will recommend ones if you go all the time and are out of ideas. Lastly make sure you get some green tea mochi and the fried banana desert! Soo good. Love this place! Sorry we come in so late!

Awesome sushi and excellent presentation. Prices are very reasonable for what you get too. I got the miso soup(slightly above average, still good, big chunks of tofu) and the sashimi deluxe, which was one of the best I’ve had in NJ. Will return. Also they have fast wifi

Went here with my family during lunch for sushi. The atmosphere was very relaxing and peaceful. Service was also excellent. We ordered 2 lunch specials(6 rolls), two special rolls and a pad thai for 6 people. The complimentary salad with the lunch special was really fresh and delicious. The miso soup was a little lukewarm but well seasoned, however the waiter did realize and offered to heat it for us. The Matata roll and a lobster roll(can’t remember the name) were very good. The pad thai was also good. In the future I expect to come back here.

Love, love, love Matata. We passed by this place often and kept saying we had to try it. Well, we were very glad we did. We couldn’t stop giving praises to the attentive wait staff for the delicious flavors of their food. The Vietnamese whole fish was a delight and a good value at $ 24. The best was the fried rice. I was brought up on NYC Chinatown food and this fried rice brought me back. A must. For $ 5 the appetizers are a great deal. Spicy dumplings excellent. Tom yum soup was perfectly spiced with quite a few large shrimp cooked perfectly. Many Asian foods represented including Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese and Thai. Needless to say we have leftovers for tomorrow night. We were happy to find they will deliver to Hazlet.

This was my first time visiting this establishment and I must say that I didn’t have very high expectations. I tend to find that restaurants who attempt to specialize in more than one genre of food, in this case Chinese, Japanese, and Thai tend to be good at nothing lol. However, in this case I was wrong! I ordered the pork dumplings, tom yum soup with shrimp, and the Singapore rice noodles with shrimp(extra spicy). I must say that everything I ordered was absolutely great. The dishes were fresh and flavorful with ample portions. They also had the right amount of heat. I’m definitely coming back!

Nice, friendly staff. Good food and good selection! Stopped in here for lunch on the way to the beach. Great place for lunch or even dinner. BYOB friendly! Come check it out! I got the Naruto Roll and the Ikayaki. The presentation was nice and the meal, delicious. My friends got a few rolls and the fish tasted fresh and full of flavor. The atmosphere was calm and serene. There weren’t too many people here but it was nice to have a conversation without too much background noise. Will definitely come back here if in the area.

Friendly staff, great atmosphere, incredible food. This is my #1 spot for sushi in the bayshore area. This place has the some of the most extensive, diverse sushi options compared to the other sushi places I’ve been to. The specialty rolls are usually pretty big, and they aren’t overpriced, which is a plus. Definitely a great place for sushi-lovers.

This place is so lovely! My family and I love to have dinner at this place; it’s one of our favorites. The menu boasts a great variety of food from so many Asian regions, and everything we’ve tried so far has been absolutely incredible. Also, having been to Thailand, I can vouch for the Thai options on the menu here – pretty close to what we guzzled down during our trip! Plus: they have sushi, and it’s GOOD. The portions are very satisfying, and the prices are affordable enough that two post-college students can meet up for a delicious lunch or dinner guilt-free. The staff consists of the nicest people – they always remember us and are glad to make suggestions and explain dishes. They take such good care of their diners, it’s always such a pleasure to visit. And again, the food is incredibly good. The mere thought is making me salivate. Do make a visit here – this restaurant is more than deserving.

Sushi is so fresh. By far my favorite thing there is the beef pineapple fried rice. The sauce on the chicken and broccoli is absolutely amazing. The egg drop soup is flavorful and not too salty. Staff is friendly and remembers you. Each course was brought out in the right amount of time. Takeout is packaged very well, NOSPILLS!
