No matter where you put this delight of gastronomy in the nation it would do well. Yet set it down in a quaint village in Vermont and it becomes a destination. Her use of local farm ingredients really makes it. I know people who plan their business trips to the area just so they can go when the kitchen in open. This woman creates from love and soul.

Charming establishment with a very rustic chic appeal. The spinach quiche is absolutely delicious, as well as the ham and mushroom. The assortment of cookies are vast, including a small selection of gluten free cookies. This is a nice stop during a summer or fall scenic drive.

Stopped by on our adventues for new breakfast spots. Lovely place and a great place to start the day. The tables out back in the garden area make this place one step above everyone else. The omelet was outstanding with fresh vegtables. My waffle was light and fluffy. There were so many more choices we will have to go back to visit again. There are even gluten free and vegan choices on the menu and from the bakery, which is the whole front entry. Makes your tastebuds water just thinking about it.

Anyone who’s lived in southern Vermont for any time can stop reading, but to anyone who’s new: Sissy helped change the culinary landscape when she owned a fabulous restaurant in Dorset and now she’s brought her magic to a spot in the middle of, well, Middletown, a two block town amid a leaf-filled landscape of small Vermont roads and farmers meadows. Simple and beautiful food never had a better spot.

Hip, fresh, seasonal food served in a stunning colonial New England village. Sissy was for years the chef at the Dorset inn. She really knows her way around a kitchen. I had veg chili, blueberry pie and two nibbles on my pals raw veg wrap. We sat outside at a table set under an enormous maple tree. Worth a drive or bike…

I came here a year ago, my buddy has a place down the street from here. The food is always amazing and fresh. This time we had the veggie has and the egg sammy. Bacon egg and cheese is one of my favorites and this one was really good but I must say the veggie hash was so good.

Amazing food! Good prices and drinks. Loving dogs to greet you as you walk in. Outside tables in the back, I highly recommend this place to locals and tourists.

On my way back from a hiking trip I stopped by Sissy’s. I don’t know how to describe this place, there is no place to sit, there is local art spread all over the building, its much like a deli, except that their food, well it gives me a reason to take a trip this way again. The bread is fresh baked and by far the best part of the meal and the hot sandwhich I had was huge, and filling, potato salad was perfect, not mushy not overdressed in mayonaise, and her pastries, well, they are amazing too. Her gluten free offerings were not for me, but then again I can’t say I have ever had good gluten free baked goods. I ended up buying some pre portioned meals, which were great re-heated, but not nearly as good as the fresh food. One downside is that there was no where to sit, not even outside which makes it a little hard to eat especially if you are just passing through the area. Also it took five minutes for someone to realize I was there, but I don’t see that as big deal

Sissy’s Kitchen is in a little out of the way town, that if you are anywhere nearby, you want to pass through in order to visit this spot. Especially for those on a bike ride on Vermont’s back roads and need a filling sandwich or tasty snack. She’ll cook up a breakfast of the usual egg combinations, and don’t forget the corned beef hash! Sissy has coffee, tasty baked goods, sweets and frozen dinners to take home as well as her own line of products that include jams, jellies, salad dressings and cheese straws. A mini Stonewall Kitchen, but much, much smaller and in VT. Prices are ridiculously reasonable.
