The market itself is very rustic which I like. Just too busy on a Saturday morning. Maybe because it’s fall? I wonder if it’s always like this all the time. We wanted to try the deli but the line was too long and I read that it takes them an hour(more or less) for a sandwich. We just shopped for some apples, pies and donut holes. They were all very good but it’s definitely not worth the hour drive to get there. Maybe we’ll visit during the summer…

Love coming here for the fall. On site made Apple cider is one of my all time favorites. Amazing spot to see the New England fall foliage as well. Also offers picking various fruits and pumpkins too.

Love coming in stopping for some of their fantastic cider, one of their lunch specials and their many amazing baked goods. Like another reviewer stated don’t come here for the other produce(other than Apples) its not worth it but I think that shouldn’t bring this place down so many notches as it has so many other great aspects. There is NOTHING like spending a nice day outside on the deck eating on of their lunches here with some apple cider. This place gets CRAZY on days off of school and Saturdays sometimes but thats to be given as its a great place to bring the kids. Me and the fiancé like it for just a date too though! Their apple pie is fantastic, doughnuts, baked breads(banana walnut is my fav). Not the place to come if your watching your weight :-).

Ok, if you want a good selection of apples, decent dairy section, and sugar donuts it’s worth the stop. However, don’t be fooled by the offering of other fruits and veggies. They are not fresh, nowhere close to local, and pretty pricey. Red peppers there today had skin that was shriveled at about 3.50/lb. Sweet potatoes were the size of little carrots. Not sure you would have anything left if you peeled them. At checkout don’t expect the cashier to have codes that come close to the actual prices indicated out in the store. Today I had 3 things charged at a higher per pound price, and two things charged lower so I called it even rather than go back and insist. The selection of pies is good and handy for holidays. I have bought the precooked a couple times and the crust was raw on the bottom; buy the uncooked and do it yourself. Overall this place is a disappointment. Right between Middlefield and Durham, it could do well selling quality and local produce.

Not a bad supermarket, not a bad supermarket. And can we forget the bakery that sells cider donuts? Yum Yum Yum! I like the place outside where you can eat and feed the little duckies. Cool cool.

Jamie H got it right: «All you need to know is that if you leave the Apple Barrel without a cinnamon cider donut, you’re doing it wrong.» –1 star for the cluster**** that are the lines inside. The long lines are fine but given that this happens every week it would be helpful if staff helped organize the lines so people didn’t cut or get confused. It was a maze in there(unlike the sunflower and corn maze). Other than the chaotic line this is a local treasure and I am grateful to the Lyman’s for having such a beautiful place to go hang out and pick fruit and spend time with friends and family.

This place is a little pricey, but some things are worth it. They have an incredible assortment of apples and are open year-round. Come early for the Cider donuts, which are FANTASTIC! Service can be a little cranky, especially later in the day. Ducks in the pond and plenty of areas to play make this a good spot for families, too. Breakfast and lunch/snacks served. A little pricey on the food – especially bakery stuff – but good quality. It’s a local business, which is always a good thing to support.
