Eat at drive-in, in beautiful Vermont, drink root beer floats, sit out on the lawn, what could be better!!! Loved this place. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

Its fine. It seems to be more expensive each year, but still a fun outing. The plain cheeseburger is quite small for $ 3.50+, but the meals are a decent value. The root beer is awesome, and the fried cheese curds are pretty good, too.

If 1,000 years from now, you were asked create a 20th century experience that explained Americana, you would be hard pressed to beat the drive in at A&W. Burgers, fries, floats, and car hops. If you’ve never been, go. If you have been, go again. If you have a regret in life, not going to A&W enough should not be your regret. Going too much? OK!

My husband and I had never been to an A&W. Since we are new to the area we thought it was really cool to see one! We finally brought our 3 children for a treat. We pulled up, and you could either sit at the drive up, or sit at picnic tables. Since it was a nice day we chose the picnic tables. We were pleasantly surprised to see there were outdoor toys for the children to play with. We waited an awful long time before someone came bring us a menu and take our order. That would be my only complaint. The food and ice cream were tasty, and I thought the prices were very reasonable! We will definitely be back again!

My boyfriend and I normally get takeout here but today when we called thy told us no, to find out thy really were. We’ve been waiting for over a half an hour for our food. Sure they may be busy, but there is tons of food sitting user a heating lamp. Very dissapointing. Under no circumstances should you have to wait an hour for 2 burgers at a&w.

Great nostalgic drive in place for lunch. Servers are always friendly and the food is sourced locally. Plus it’s fun to people watch the other customers in their cars!

After years of trying to get here when they were open I finally enjoyed them! Yay! The food was pretty basic fair food, which is delicious. I was delighted to have a huge genuine root beer float. They only take cash, which I wasn’t prepared for. It would be great if they took cards or had an ATM.

I love drive-in food places and this is a good one, really the only one in Vermont. It has simple food, but always consistently good. The real kicker is the homemade rootbeer and rootbeer floats, served in frosty mugs. Great place for any post hiking adventure in the Middlebury area.

All I can say is that I love A & W! The food is great. Normally we order a basket of onion rings to share and then we each order what we would like to go with it. Their hotdogs, fried chicken, grilled chicken sandwich and burgers are all great! We have never gotten anything from here that taste bad or came out wrong. While your here be sure to check out their root beer and root beer float! But don’t worry if your not a root beer fan they do offer other sodas as well! The wait staff has always been friendly. However in the early season they are always short staffed. I think its because the college kids are not out of school yet. Shortly after May though they have a lot more staff on call! So if you come during a dinner time before hand expect it to be a little bit slower. But its well worth the wait. Prices here are very fair. With 2 large root beers, 2 sandwiches of some sort and a basket of onion rings sets us back around $ 19.00 before tip. So its pretty cheap over all. This place is for sure a step up from your average fast food joint! The service is great and the prices are fair. Just make sure you go in the sunny weather and you have a winner on your hands all day long. We will be here again later in the season like every year.

Good quality burgers and onion rings that can only be had during the summer months. The servers are friendly and lots of them still skate around to serve you. Can’t get much better in Vermont to go for a swim in the mtns on a hot day then go to the drive in for some dank burgers and floats.

I LOVE the A&W! The service can be a little spotty, and the food isn’t anything to write home about, but it is so much fun. Who wouldn’t love spending a beautiful late summer evening chowing down on burgers, fries and onion rings and washing it down with a rootbeer in a frosty mug? I love that you can choose to eat outside at one of the many picnic tables or in your car. The carhops come right up to your car and take your order and then place the tray of food on your window — Flintstone’s style. It is a MUSTDO if you are in Middlebury during the open season. Take a gallon of rootbeer home to-go — you will be happy you did!

When this drive-in restaurant opens up in May each year, cars come from miles around to park at the A&W lot, put a tray full of burgers on their window, slurp down a rootbeer float, and get waited on by girls on rollerskates. A&W is the ultimate throw-back restaurant. It makes me wish I had a ’67 Chevy in robin’s egg blue and knew how to do The Twist.
