Middleburg is a cute little town, located basically in the middle of now where, full of cute and fun shops and incredibly nice people! I would definitely recommend arranging to come here for a full day of family fun. There are lovely restaurants, a fantastic butchery with a café in the loft, and a variety of shops(everything from thrift shops to expensive boutiques).

There are a few reasons why Middleburg is so great. Because(1) my boyfriend took me here and to some of the surrounding areas for our first vacation/getaway together to celebrate my birthday.(2) The plethora of cute restaurants and antique shops that make for a quaint and quiet afternoon stroll down Washington Street. And(3) because it’s only 25¢ for an HOUR of parking. Details for reasons 1 and 2 will be exhibited via additional Unilocal reviews. As for the parking, it is easy to find and cheap, cheap, cheap. For lunch on day two we ventured back into Middleburg and parked in a spot with a two hour time limit that was a whopping 50¢ an hour and I was quite shocked. Yeah the quarter an hour for up to eight hours spot we had on Friday made me spoiled… nevermind that you’ll pay more for one hour of parking in most areas of DC than you will in those eight hours combined. I was almost tempted not to pay, just to see how much the ticket would be. $ 5? Maybe $ 6.50 for the two hour spot? The good citizen in me – and my horrible luck with meter maids recently — got the best of me so I guess I’ll never find out. It’s well worth the hour and a half drive from the DC area to Middleburg to get away from it all for a day. There is plenty to do in the area between the wineries, good restaurants and elaborate inns that you can make a whole weekend out of the area or just a day trip in Middleburg itself.
