This place has an incredibly comfortable vibe. Maybe it’s the wood color. The interior is definitely doing something to me whenever I visit. It’s a cool hangout spot.
It’s not intimidating like a Starbucks during their rush hour with all the mouse clicking and loud conversations. You can get a decent amount of privacy wherever you are at the shop.
Coffee drinks have always been up to par, and they carry some cool treats surrounding the cash register.
I do think the food items are a bit steep in price, but I assume it has something to do with local seasonal shopping and living population.
Definitely recommend it though. Solid.
Quick question for anyone who’s visited here though — when you go upstairs, does it bother you that the closet/​ice machine/​mini spy room is always open? Or maybe it’s just me.

Great, locally owned spot. Variety of hot and cold beverages. Sweets from A Bit of Swiss in Michigan. Lovely selection. Nice menu. Don’t be deterred by the line. They move the lines quickly. Places to sit upstairs. Wi-​fi. Good hang out place during the week. Nice staff. Parking may be tough on the weekend — across the street form the Lighthouse Place Outlet Mall.

Go-​to coffee shop in Michigan City. I drive across town to get coffee here as opposed to at a chain that is closer. Love the coffee, the employees are great, and I can also come here to work remotely. Don’t pass on their food either, they have a wide range of offerings from pastries to paninis, and they usually have samples out for you to nibble on while you wait for your drink (s).

Wonderful coffee shop! I feel like I walked into a Nora Roberts novel! Everyone is incredibly friendly. Locals and tourists are all curled up in the chairs easing books, chatting, sharing the paper. And they have great coffee and outstanding pastries. Definitely stop in!

This place was a great find!
My friends and I happened to stumble at this place while shopping at the Lighthouse mall.
Lovely décor and a warm place to hang out.
They even have board games to play while enjoying their coffee :)
Our coffees were great and the barista made us her version of a mocha frappé which was delicious!
We also got a pesto chicken sandwich and were not disappointed at all.
Will surely be visiting this place again.

Lakeshore Coffee was a great pick me up after shopping at Michigan City Lighthouse place. Highly recommend the Snicker Delight coffee and iced chai latte! Cute place with plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs and a nice selection of pastries and other treats. Definitely more of a social coffee shop than one where you would want to work or study. Stop by if you are in the area!

Great place, friendly employees. The owner is also a really nice lady who is in there working from time to time. Try the dirty chai. Only reason it didn’t get five starts is the recent raise in price… I like coffee but $ 13 for two drinks is sometimes not cut for my budget.

Great coffee. Iced latte was just to my taste. Friendly staff and good service. This place has everything that good coffee shop needs. They do have pretty good menu too.

Yummy sandwiches and friendly service. We walked over from the Lighthouse Place Outlet mall. Didn’t try the coffee yet, but there were lots of options for espresso drinks.

The BEST Chai I’ve ever had in my life. I love that they have three varieties to choose from: spiced, vanilla and green; and they have almond milk in addition to regular dairy milk and soy. My friend had a green Chai tea with skim milk — YUM. I had a vanilla chai with almond milk and WOW. It tastes just like a cinnamon churro. I wish I lived closer and could go all the time. Highly recommend, especially if you’re hitting up the outlet mall across the street.

Loved the atmospher, coffee, and food. If I lived closer it would definitely be a go to stop for me. It’s conveniently close to the outlet mall so it has to be a hot spot for shoppers and locals. I got one of their breakfast bagel sandwiches and a coffee and I was not disappointed. Would definitely come back :)

Excellent coffee café. The inside looks like that of a ski lodge. The baristas seemed happy to be there. The coffee was very good; the Americano was full and bold. I would definitely recommend.

I am a big fan of lake shore coffee. Growing up my friend Kara worked here and I worked at a coffee shop down the street and we would always hang wherever one of us was working.
They have a great coffee selection. Their specialty drinks are great too. I would strongly advise going with with a chai tea latte. It tastes like fall in a cup.
Great am edition is pastries and sandwiches to. Everything is fresh and brought in that morning.
Annie who is one if the regular workers you will see is great and always remembers regulars. It is a real family atmosphere and it’s why I will keep going here until I can’t!

Love love love this coffee shop. I would choose a beverage from lakeshore over Starbucks any day!!! Not only are the drinks great, they have awesome pastries & sandwiches!
I love the layout & how cozy it is inside. Whenever I want to meet with a friend to catch up, this is my go to place. Nice, quiet, & plenty of comfortable seating. Weather you want to enjoy a beautiful sunny day on the patio or keep cozy & warm on a winter day on the second floor, you always have options.
Another thing that made me fall in love with lakeshore was how the staff attempt to remember ever «regular» customer. My family loves to go on Sundays & we barley have to even say our order. The wonderful staff confirms they have the order memorized correctly & get started on making it all!

Awesome little coffee shop a few blocks from the Blue Chip casino. This place has great coffee, super friendly staff and a cute décor! Definitely a place to grab a quick cup of coffee if you’re staying at the casino/​hotel!

After taking a trip to Michigan City and walking around for my first South Shore train trip there (definitely hope to do another one to there, soon), I was starving and needed something to eat. Spotted this place and it looked inviting, so I decided to stop here. The iced tea drink I got was decent, and ditto with the breakfast sandwich I ordered (forgetting what it was, sorry). The sandwiches are marginally more expensive than what a lot of other places charge, but I still enjoyed it despite the pricing. Hopefully, they get the issue with their outdoor furniture resolved, since the table I sat in on their patio blew over when the wind was unusually strong.
Interior looked really inviting too, for those months when the weather is colder. ETA that the main employee working saved my butt, and found my long sleeve buttoned shirt that I threw over my short sleeved shirt, and waited for me to go by at 6:30pm to pick it up. Now that’s really great customer service, and also saved me the trouble of having to do a return Mich City trip later, to retrieve it. I’ll definitely be back, at some point.

Great gem in MC… Superb coffee choices, great baked goods and sandwiches. Nice outdoor and indoor searing options. It was hard to NOT leave with half a dozen cookies and brownies on the way out! A must stop if you’re in the area.

Support independent coffee shops! They actually make coffee here as opposed to the totally automatic large chains. And you can get whole bean in several varieties. Cute place.

This is my FAVORITE spot! Not only do they have the best quality coffee/​espresso beans, bakery items, and food items — but the owner really takes the time to train each employee ensuring they are confident in making a good cup of coffee/​specialty drink and it really shows! You can really taste the difference from a Lakeshore Specialty drink compared to a Starbuck’s — where the espresso is really bitter.
When you enter the coffee shop, you feel like you are nestled away in a tree house. The décor is cozy and warm, and the employees take great care of the cleanliness. It’s a great place to study, read a book, or catch up with friends. Everyone from the owner, to the staff, to the customers are friendly.
The location is great — right across from Lighthouse Outlet Mall and just a few blocks from the beach. Make sure to try one of their great panini’s!
