Hammers had incredible food, service, and staff. The owner personally said hello to each table while the attentive staff made sure everything was taken care of. Our amazing server, Laura, was knowledgeable and made wonderful suggestions. Our family not only had a great time, but had a delicious meal accompanied with tasty drinks. This is a place to go. We will be back very soon.

I have been to several business lunches at Hammer’s. Each time it has been fairly busy with lunching groups of ladies and local folks. Hammer’s has a great menu, and all of the food we’ve tried has been good. Some of it is surprising. Recently they had a pierogi special that was served either Polish or Italian style. Two members of our group enjoyed the Italian style presentation, layered with marinara and cheese. It was a great, vegetarian option. I recommend paying attention and considering the specials. They are usually not on the regular menu, and they are delicious. Salads and sandwiches here are also good. French fries are fair. The service here is knowledgeable and friendly, and the owner is often visible and engaged with customers. The facility itself is spacious and clean. Take a sweater in, though, as it is often just a bit cool.

Been to Hammer’s several times now, usually when passing through to/from the beaches or the boat show, and it’s now officially my go to spot in the area. Dining area isn’t super fancy but it’s clean and the staff has always been super friendly. The food is exceptional! I live in Chicago and have a wealth of restaurants at my doorstep. Hammer’s is consistent, simple good food. Last time I was there I had a great t-bone steak with a mushroom risotto that was out of this world. It was their dinner special. We also had the meatball appetizer. The meatballs are a must! Don’t skip these, I guarantee you haven’t had them like this. My gf had the kabobs which were really, really good. The meat was grilled but it was still tender. The drink menu is familiar, margaritas, some vodka martinis, but at least the drinks are made strong. We’ll be back, good food + reasonable prices.

My family and I are new to area and my parents were in town visiting. We decided to try here. From the outside looks like a little mom and pop restaurant but it’s anything but. It elegant and yet friendly and warm. Our experience was amazing to say the least. First parties of 5 or more need a reservation. We didn’t know this and the hostess was so welcoming and made sure we got a table anyways. The waitress was quick thorough and friendly. THEFOOD was PHENOMENAL. Got the Steak medallions dinner and it was A+++. But the Bread Pudding is HEAVEN. It’s a must try place we will definitely be back.

I’ve been in the bar and the regular bar scum get all the attention. Typically it is full of middle aged, wannabe biker trash. Take a pistol with you to this dump at nighttime. Drinks are okay although I think it is pretty hard to screw up a bottle of beer. Food is terrible. The lettuce was old and was already turning brown but it didn’t stop them from serving it to us. About the only thing it has going for it is the average prices but that is overshadowed by the hillbilly scumbag service and filthy ‘food.’

Love this place. Every time my wife and I have been here the food was great. The staff has been good and on top of things and you always see the owner working there. The pretzel burger is amazing and a fair price.

My wife and I stumbled upon this place by accident while driving through Michigan City in Sept 2013 on our way up to South Haven. We ate in the dining room. We ordered Pizza and salad and were very pleased. The pizza was delicious, drinks were fine and I don’t remember much about the salad. They were very friendly and the service was good. Prices were extremely reasonable and all told this place is a much better value than any of the franchise restaurants we might pass on the road. I returned recently April 2014 and again found this place to be an enjoyable stop for dinner. We were on the road heading back to Chicago and the detour from I94 to Route 20 was not far out of our way. My friend and I ordered entrée dishes and shared a salad. No complaints. It’s not a fancy place, which is just fine. Sometimes you just want a good meal and a drink, not an evening out! Our server indicated that most of their customers are regulars. However, we were treated like guests and I’m glad the regulars support the place so it can stay in business.

First time here and it was great. Just for late night appetizers, and it was busy so glad we weren’t in a hurry. Flatbread was amazing, very home made flavors, spinach artichoke dip was extremely cheesy, a good thing in my book. Clean simple atmosphere, friendly service.

Any place that requires you to drive accross the street to get a bottle of water because their water tastes so bad and has a brown tint to it, is a place that doesnt deserve my $$…

Sep. update, when you see some 1 stars and then lots of 5 stars you wonder how many employees are Unilocaling. Had drinks which were OK but bartender spends plenty of time talking to regulars and you’re 2nd fiddle. Read on about the horrible barffet… Easter buffet, our waitress yelled at a buffet food runner for consolidating the dried-out biscuits with his hands and he moved the last 2 with greasy tongs that had fallen into the Gordon Food Service enriched flour filler breakfast sausages. I repeatedly said«excuse me» to the food runners that silently squeezed between me to consolidate institutional food. Unseasoned(meaning«lightly» seasoned) prime rib. Flavorless chicken parm. If it’s worth doing why not do it right? All the pies were GFS too probably, my apple pie had an apple seed. No iceberg lettuce. Institutional eggs. Horrible bacon, why not serve LESS bacon and make it quality Oscar Mayer? The coup de grâce(n., a blow meant to end the suffering of a wounded creature), was the compulsory 18% tip for taking plates and putting carafes of iced tea at your table. For this I expect to not go on Splenda discovery expeditions and have polite food runners not consolidate with mechanic’s hands. Dan G. was accurate in his review. My point is if you put Chili’s food or Redamak’s up against the food here price-wise and taste it’s no contest.

Delish tomato cheese garlic bread and the Barb & Stan’s pizza is so tasty! I’ve tried many different things and have not been disappointed.

have been here a lot. Ken«the Hammer» Larson serves up some good food in a great atmosphere. We just had our second company Christmas party here and all I have to say is great food at a more than reasonable price! Way to go Ken.

I’ve been here now 4 times and love it more every time we go. The pizza is truly homemade and has an authentic Italian taste. The sandwiches and steaks are wonderful and even the appetizers are yummy. My family and I typically eat at local holiday buffets for Easter or mothers day and other holidays and haven’t found a better buffet than Hammers. The food is hot and quality at a lower price than most, I even love the biscuits and gravy. I only wish they had the buffet more often like they use to. They even offer a reasonably priced catering menu, so check it out. The only thing I would complain about is the french fries. They are small like the shoestring fries and very little potato taste. Frankly, McDonalds fries are better. One last thing, the waitstaff is super attentive and friendly. The last two times we were there Sue waited on us and she was amazing. Changing from a 5 to 4 because they stopped doing the holiday buffets that were so good.

Hammers is alright. The fam is in town here and we always seem to end up here for the buffet on holidays. The food is good. Even though the restaurant is smoke free it still spills over from the bar. I could really do without that. I’ll update with better details after our next visit.
