One of the few places in town with a decent selection of fishing gear. Prices are usually a little cheaper than say Bass Pro on the supplies they have. Lots of guns, ammo, and accessories too.

Large store with everything from clothes, to households, to farm supplies. Prices varied. Some were reasonable, while others were high.

Downers Grove, IL

Comparable to any Bass Pro, Cabelas, or Gander Mountain. Plus is Big R has lower overhead so they can provide cheaper prices on the same stuff. Ammunition is pretty cheap and they have a plethora of camping and hunting supplies. Gun selection is decent but their prices are only okay. The staff is very helpful and personable and deserves a thumbs up.

This place is located in what was a WalMart. And like WalMart it takes a little effort to find an employee to help you. I wanted a chicken coop extension for my daughter but they were out of stock and the sales guy said they were having trouble importing them from Korea. I went to their competitor (Tractor Supply) and they had them. Maybe Big Red is trying to order them from North Korea.

The only experience I have had has been having a gun I had transferred in that I bought online. I will say that the great customer service from Ed at the firearms counter will get my business for other things.
