On an episode of Eat Street on the Cooking Channel, they had a segment about the Beatles themed food truck, The Yellow Submarine. What caught my attention was the fact that they put pineapple sauce in their burgers and hot dogs — total WTF moment for me! Curiousity got the best of me, so the Mister and I decided to head around the corner to their usual spot on 147th Ave. and Kendall Dr. We ordered the Yellow Burger(with a drink and fries for $ 10) and the Original Sin Sandwich(with a drink and fries for $ 10). The Yellow Burger is their signature burger with a well-seasoned beef patty, provolone cheese, tomato, onions, lettuce, white mustard and the infamous pineapple sauce. It’s a pretty tasty burger and to my surprise, the pineapple sauce in the burger = awesome idea! It wasn’t overpowering and it added a slightly sweet taste to the entire burger. I guess it’s a Colombian thing to put pineapple sauce on everything — not sure, let me know if I’m wrong! The sandwich, which consisted of grilled ham, genoa salami, and pepperoni with the usual sandwich veggies(lettuce, tomato, onions) and pesto sauce, was«eh». It was nothing special and we’ve had better sandwiches. The crinkle cut fries are pretty good — extra crispy and not too greasy. We’d probably visit again to try their Yellow Dog and have their burger again, but not anytime soon though. It was ok in our book. FYI — this food truck accepts credit cards.

All hail the yellow submarine! First of all I just love the Beatles theme they got going… takes me back to the time I spent in Liverpool… so they had won me over just with that. Then came the Yellow Dog… oooh that dog is gooood! I must say it is one of the top Colombian style hot dogs I have tried. Being Colombian, every time I hear of a hot dog place, it is a must check out type thing and these guys have won my heart in the hot dog world… for now that is. They are very friendly, clean, and they package everything real good when you order to go. Give them a try!

The Yellow Dog is the best ever, bar none, hands down and any other cliché’s you want to tag on. Seriously, I’ve had dreams about this dog, and I am NOT a hot dog person. I have a friend in Raleigh, NC who will text me about this dog. Make sure you check it out when you see this truck around town. The hamburger is also really, really good. The sandwiches are also amazing though I have found that lately they are making them smaller, but still, oh so good. Ask for extra on the sauces, trust me on this, they are fresh and delicious!

My favorite Food Truck, I wish they would park outside my house. Killer Queen is awesome, Lady Madonna is really good, too. The Burger is insane! The people that run it are really cool — they don’t insult their customers by ignoring them or calling them«stalkers.»

The Yellow Burger was one of the best ever. It’s the toppings that make the burger something really special with the sauce, cheese and cole slaw. They all blend together and take a burger to a total different level!

This truck was parked in front of the newly opened Virginia Key mountain bike trails on Sunday, so after I rode a loop, I figured I’d kill two Unilocal with one stone. Besides, I’d pedaled all the way from Dadeland, so I was hungry. I’ll start with the summation — I found my sub to be pretty blah. It was the kind of sandwich I’ll eat if you throw it in front of me, but I doubt I’ll be anxiously checking this truck’s Twitter feed in hopes of hooking up with another Lady Madonna. Which is basically a ham sub, by the way, with the twist being that they throw the ham on a grill for a little. It also comes standard with pesto sauce and garlic sauce, which to me sounded intriguing. I saw the container of garlic sauce, however, and it looked like the kind of nauseatingly creamy goop I never like on my sandwiches. I just can’t handle it. Don’t like the way it tastes, don’t like the way it feels, don’t like the way it looks. I caught the sandwich preparer in time and asked him to omit the garlic sauce, figuring the pesto sauce would be plenty good enough. I was wrong. The pesto didn’t have much flavor other than that of «salt.» The sandwich itself didn’t have much flavor. Maybe the omitted garlic sauce is the key flavor constituent, I don’t know… but if creamy goo had spurted forth from my Madonna upon biting into it, I’d probably be giving this a disgusted 2 stars instead of a lukewarm 3. I probably would have liked the sandwich better with some garlic shavings and olive oil. If I catch this truck again I’ll probably go with a hot dog. I apologize for dragging the overall rating down because of my one major food hang-up.

I tried food from the Yellow Submarine during one of the Food Truck Court gatherings in Kendall. I am a fan of Colombian hot dogs, so I ordered the Yellow Dog. It was delicious!!! The hot dog was dressed with the perfect amount of each ingredient(cheese, pineapple sauce, chips, ketchup mayo, etc.). To complete the meal, Yellow Submarine also offers Colombian drinks such as lulo. Yum! All the menu items and the truck cleverly fit under the Beatles theme and embrace the tradition of Colombian fast food and food trucks. Yellow Submarine is great for on-the-go meals. Can’t wait to return for another Yellow Dog!

Tried the submarine hot dog which had a ton of toppings which I can’t remember all. I remember the pineapple sauce and the crushed potato chips which gave it an interesting texture. I don’t know if it’s because I’m a new yorker but I like my hot dogs with a little bite; crispy casing. This hot dog had the consistency of soft boiled hot dogs. Overall, I felt even with all those toppings, it needed something. It was missing a flavor.

I Unilocal when necessary and it is necessary I Unilocal about this truck! The food truck craze has taken over Miami, besides Feverish I knew of nothing else until tonight when I met the Yellow Submarine. I wanted everything on the menu, instead I trusted the very nice yellow submarine dude with whatever he suggested. He directed me to wait by the VIP submarine area(couple of black chairs by the fence, quite classy if you ask me). Dude rings the bell and my Colombian Burger is done! I kid you not it was too pretty to eat, but I bit into it and well… I experienced fireworks and a mouthgasm the size of China(China’s big right?) anyway it was light, crisp, juicy, tender, sweet, moist, crunchy. I gladly introduce my new addiction. I wonder if they’d volunteer to be my personal chef just a thought. P. s. Check out their FB& Twitter so you too can stalk them like me :)

I don’t often disagree with my fellow Unilocalers, but I have to on this one. After checking out the Food Truck Court during last night’s UYE, I was hooked and came back early so that I may actually sample more of the goods. Since I was hungry, common sense and Cuban upbringing indicated that I start with savory before sweet. Thus I stopped at Yellow Submarine. The food is creative sandwiches and hot dogs named after mostly classic beatle songs(with I think a Hendrix track thrown in.) Of the trucks out there tonight, they actually took credit cards which was a big plus. I went for the«Sunshine Reggae» sandwich. Yes, the ham and cheese were fresh, the pineapple and pesto sauces contrasted nicely and didn’t overwhelm the meat and the bread was soft. However, I had a «beef»(pardon the pun) with the price-to-portion ratio. The sandwich went for what about the same price I’ve paid at one of the local(non-chain) sandwich shops I’ve Unilocal’d. Yet each half of the sandwich was about just the size of my palm, making it a 6″ sandwich. So yes, an undercover fat kid like yours truly did leave hungry. The taste was good, but please guys, consider making your portions a little larger!

We hit this place few months ago right after 2010 Burgie Awards. I knew I would like them from the beginning because they use pineapple sauce and chips on their hot-dogs(Winner of the Best Hot Dog in Miami-Dade County). Mix that in with melted Provolone and a little secret sauce(ketchup mayo) and you got yourself a great little snack before or after that night of drinking(and not driving). I also tried the Yellow Burger, but honestly all i could think about was the Dog. Prices were great for both($ 4.50 dog)($ 6.00 burger) and portion just right. They are a little far from my area of residence(147th and Kendall Drive) so on one of my very few visits to West Kendall I made sure to stop by. I’ve notice on their Tweets they sometimes park at Bougainvillea’s «boogies» in South Miami by Sunset Place. Definitely a much closer/central location. Just 2 Cool guys following their dream,. so follow them @yellowtwiter and check them out.

My love affair with cylindrical meats began a long time ago in a land far, far away… California. Pink’s Hot Dogs to be precise. I remember the first time biting into one of those dogs, ummm so tasty, juicy and the skin had this crisp bite. Amazing. Since that time, I would take all of my visitors to this little place located on Brea in LA. no matter the time of day, there would always be a line. I anxiously awaited my next out-of-state visitor for the next trip to Pink’s. Once I moved back to the MIA, a friend of mine started a blog about burgers. I would visit places with him and seemed to always try the hot dogs. I jokingly stated that I should start a blog called the Hot Dog Whore and victimize hot dogs all over the land by deep throating them and then later writing letters of praise/disgust to their respective hot dog vendors. No matter the occasion,(BBQ, restaurant, county fair, late night drunken gluttony of eating) you could find me with something long and hot and meaty in my mouth. With hot dogs, like with sex, sometimes you need two or three to get the job done. This would lead to my eventual coronary artery disease along with various cardiac issues and obesity. I have since refrained from the thought of the hot dog blog. Yellow Submarine– You tasty, tasty SOB. I tried your Yellow Dog at the Fall for the Arts Festival not long ago. I was in Hot Dog Heaven! The sauce, the crushed tato chips atop your little cylinder of juicy beef-i-tude, it was the perfect combo. I have since stalked you on a few occasions and can’t break away from the perfect marriage of flavours. You are the perfect gentlemen always knowing just how much to give with each bite. Others may try to duplicate your beefy splendor but they shall pale in comparison. Yellow Submarine, Yellow Dog you have a devotee in me. If I should ever start that Hot Dog Whore Blog, yours will be the first cylindrical meat on my victims list.

Food trucks and Colombian fast food, a marriage of two growing Miami culinary scenes. To most the words Yellow Submarine are synonymous with the Beatles’ song and later animated feature. To some though it refers to the suburban Submarine that dives deep into the heart of Kendall serving up burgers, hot dogs, and a variety of hot grilled subs. I tried the Killer Queen and a Yellow Dog and both were good but I’d take the Yellow Dog every time except next time when I’ll be biting down on a Yellow Burger.

Finally! I have ventured into the ocean and found a yellow submarine filled with treasure. That treasure is great tasting food. I have been trying to eat here for awhile now, since I got into the food truck craze last month. Its either I miss them or I’m busy, but tonight was thee night I was finally able to try their food. I was hyping myself up to eat something delicious. Sure enough I was not disappointed. After doing the whole Unilocaling thing, taking pictures of the food like it were models, putting it on top of or in the Styrofoam takeout thingy as if it where its clothes and shooting them like some provocative complex art piece, then uploading it, and also texting the pics to my friends so they can be jealous of my food. I devoured, inhaled, swallowed the food. I had the Yellow Dog, yes the 2010 Burgie award winner for best hot-dog, and the Yellow Burger. This was the best Colombian style hot dog I’ve eaten while sober. It was perfect. One bite had me saying«dude. dude… dudddeeee» nodding my head with my mouth full like I was Guy Fieri staring into the camera on Triple D. The melted provolone cheese stretched like a bungee cord as I pulled the hot-dog away from my mouth. Soo good. soo good. The only disappointing part was me being nice offering my brother a bite, which inside I was hoping he would decline, unfortunately he accepted, it just looked too good not to try. I gave him the last two bites. Bastard, I should have been selfish. The Yellow Burger was great too. It was a total surprise because I wasn’t sure what to expect. There was chorizo in the burger and it meshed well with the meat. It had similar toppings to the Yellow Dog. It was a good sized portion and held up well during the eating process. This place has«Great Late-night Food» written allover their big yellow truck. I’m sure my mind would explode if I had the yellow dog while buzzed or drunk and would probably down 2 or 3. Fortunately they are near Bougies on the weekend for late night munchies. Next for me is to try their sandwiches one by one as a pair it with the Yellow Dog. To quote Mr. Brown«Now that is good eats!»

I happened to find out that Yellow Submarine was going to be open until 2:30am the other night, and I got out of work pretty late, so I decided to check them out. I got their burger, and it was pretty good. Unfortunately, there was nowhere to sit, so I ate it standing up, and one thing is for sure: that burger is a mess. It includes the patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, crunched chips, and loads of sauces. You do get your money’s worth, though. It is a hefty burger for $ 6. The patty tastes good enough, but the whole package isn’t something out of this world. I did feel like something was missing. I gave them another try twice and that definitely got me hooked. The turkey pesto sub is excellent, and the buffalo chicken sandwich is hits the spot. Neither one is too heavy or light, its just on point. Alas, HANDSDOWN, they have THE best hot dog. Forget the other places in Miami trying to sell you Columbian hot dogs. These guys do it right. They grill that hot dog, split down the middle, so it brings out that flavor, and its packed with all the good sauces, cheese and chips, too. Do yourself a favor and check out Yellow Submarine the next time they’re in your area. You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been dying to try the Yellow Submarine for some time now since they are fairly close to where i live. I went there on a weekday evening and they were parked on the shopping center parking lot behind the gas station. You can see their truck while traveling on Kendall Drive. The owner is very friendly and started a conversation. They have their own way of making the dogs by boiling them and then having them grilled when you order them. It was very good but needed some more flavor. Their most popular items are the hamburgers and sandwiches. I will defenitely come back and try them out.

SO finally after weeks of seeing yellow submarine tell me via facebook that they are parked quite literally 5 mins away from my house, I drove myself over to 147th and 88th to see what this was all about. When I walked up to the YS I took a look at the menu but my mind was decided when I saw the word burger. Was this the moment I had been waiting for? Was my burger craving about to be satisfied? I didn’t know but I did know I was going to get a burger– the yellow burger Lately I’ve been on this hamburger trip. I’ve been craving hamburgers– maybe it was from the time my mother told me we were having hamburgers and surprised with less than appealing stir fry or maybe its just my need for cheesy covered beef sandwiched between two pieces of bread.(I know there is some kind of joke hidden in there but please just let it slide) The yellow burger is a beef burger, with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, ketchup, mustard, pineapple sauce, and crushed potatoes chips. I’m not much of a mustard fan so I passed on the mustard, but failed to pass on the tomato… I thought my burger was over before it began, but for some reason I left my mistake as is and decided to deal with my tomato dilemma as is. A few minutes later my friends yellow dog came out– which is the same as the yellow burger but no tomatoes and with a hot dog instead. I was able to get a bite before my burger and I was pleasantly surprised. Yellow submarine uses a 100% all beef hot dog which is always good. No «jelly» dog here. a minute later my burger came out. Now I was excited. I sat in my chair and took a good luck at my burgery fate, first thing I notice was the lettuce, it was shredded! Thank heavens– IMO lettuce that is kept in leaves makes everything else just slide around. Then I took my first bite and I was very happy. Finally something that satisfied my burger need and it’s minutes from my house most nights! I am a complete fan of savory and sweet so the inclusion on the pineapple sauce really hit the spot, and the use of crushed potato chips added a really nice crunch to the bites. Oh and the tomato! I didn’t even realize it– it was sliced thin enough to make a nice addition but not thick enough were i wanted to just pull it off in disgust of tomato overkill. The bread was soft enough for a good burger bread but strong enough to hold up to the burger without falling apart or dissolving away Now for my gripes, now while the burger and the hot dog were delish, I wish they were different from each other. the only real difference was the meat and shape. I understand some people prefer hot dogs over burgers and burgers over hot dogs– I get it, I really do, but expand the menu a bit on the burger and hot dog flavors– give something that is unique to each of the items. Make a hot dog/burger dish not replicated by the other. Same idea for the sandwiches; all the sandwiches follow the same formula– Meat(or two meats) provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green & hot peppers, black olives, mayonnaise, pesto, salt and pepper. Lets make them different or even make a daily special. I’m all for the options! All in all it was a good job yellow submarine, Ill be back!

This food truck is amazing! Had their burger and my face just melted. This burger which I forgot the name of but Is of no importance since Its the only burger on the menu was…(phew) fantastic! It was a thick hearty burger cooked to your specifications with the general burger additives except it also came with, pineapple sauce which was to DIE for! It was a mouth orgasm! No really it was. I got a big fat juicy burger with a soda on the cheap! I found out about this place from and their twitter feeds. Great food if you’re in the Kendall area. Wish someone would hook them up with new locations! All of their food items are named after awesome songs by the way in which they jam out to while cooking. Like the person who first reviewed this food truck, I found limited seating. Its really meant to be eaten on the go! Check this gem out!

This is a Food Stand and could change locations. Best bet is to follow them on Twitter or Facebook to confirm their location. Their usual spot is in the Regions Bank parking lot on the SW corner of Kendall Dr &SW147th Ave. I’ve been a fan on Facebook for a while and finally made it over there this week. Twice. The yellow truck is so cool with red lights around the top. There’s a few folding chairs to sit on but it’s mostly a stand-up or takeout kind of joint. You order at the passenger door window and they make to food pretty quick. I’ve only paid in cash, I’m not sure if they take credit cards, bring cash just to be safe. On my first visit I ordered the Original Sin sandwich. I was surprised at how big it is, especially for 6 bucks! They grill the meat all nice nice and dress it up with veggies, mayo, and delish pesto spread. The sandwich was so full of flavor I loved it! Had to go back 2 days later for more. On the next visit I had the New Sensation which was also great. They have lattes and various beverages. The Burger, Hot Dog, and Banana Cake are on my list to try. The menu has only about 7 items but I prefer a place that sticks to what they do best. I also saw on Facebook they’re planning on expanding the menu. Everything is so cheap and good, it’s a sure bet.
