Uncle Toms Barbecue

This was my first time visiting Uncle Tom’s BBQ. I had a chicken sandwich and it was really good. The place was clean and the service was excellent! Will recommend for anyone wanting to eat good quality BBQ food.

Will never go again. I went last night. The food was brought and after review and touching it was the next tables. They took it back and the next table people walked. Again when our rib plates were delivered the sides were all wrong. Waiter kept apologizing for the evening. Finally the Herald Extra machine was not working and I had to try to figure out the amount. It’s not Shorties in any way. Again, I’ll never go back to this BBQ Establishment.

I had a pretty good experience all around. The place is very clean, service was quick and polite and the food was good.
First off the corn bread appetizer is probably my favorite thing here. I’ve had some seriously good BBQ in my days and especially in Utah. This cornbread is really good! It comes out moist and HOT with real pieces of corn, not corn meal. They place a nice big spoonful of butter on the top which adds an extra bit of moist and salty vs the sweet cornbread. Nice contrast and beautiful texture!
I had the brisket. Don’t know how else to explain it besides — different. It’s not your typical dry rubbed smoked brisket. It’s drenched in some sort of a gravy/​BBQ concoction. Almost stewy meat. It was very tender and thin. Good favor but again, fm different.
My kids had pulled pork sandwiches which were good in flavor and you can always add BBQ sauce to it. Coleslaw is really good! Very fresh and crunchy!
Good selection of beers, tvs everywhere and Heat game beer specials. I would go again. Chill spot.

One of the worst food I have ever eaten. Very dissatisfied! Chicken and Ribs were very dry and the special sauce is horrible.

Wow is all I can say. I had the open brisket sandwich. My son had a pulled chicken. Great flavor you could taste the barbecue in every bit
The wait staff was awesome very helpful. Coming from Boston it was worth looking them. Keep up the good work guys and a big wicked pisa from Boston to Miami

We arrived at lunch on a Sunday. Great service! Place was a bit smoky. Babyback ribs were delicious pulled pork also delicious. Great coleslaw, crispy fries. Liked it a lot. Would go back.

This place is not worth the money or the time. Came here for lunch after a meeting in Pinecrest and I was thoroughly disappointed. Got the brisket sandwich, which was a skimpy portion of what tasted like steamed beef, thought this was pit bbq? I also wanted to get my friend a bottle of the hot bbq sauce which I was told was $ 5 a pint, ok it’s for a friend and he can’t find it at publix anymore, I’ll pay for it. Told the server it was for a gift and she literally served it to me in two to go side dish cups. Styrofoam cups, I couldn’t make this up. Paid my tab and sulked out knowing that I had actually just paid for this with my money. Will never return.

Uncle Toms is a cool local place to eat. The food is great and service awesome. Never had a bad meal or an unhappy server. Elizabeth is usually our server, and ready to take our order with a smile and make is laugh. It’s a fun place even for happy hour… Oh one more thing, desserts are yummy too.

Don’t waste your time or money. Went there 3 different times. Ribs tough and chewy. Brisket with huge chunks of fat. Employee outside smoking a cigarette. Fried okra no flavor and soggy. Owner oblivious. Manager with an attitude when we brought our lack of service to his attention. BBQ sauce is actually some store bought brand in a jar. Really? We gave the 3 chances and 3 strikes you’re out.

Service was decent, food was average, Mac and cheese was terrible. Only good thing was I liked the coleslaw. Complained about the Mac still was charged for it. Last time for me!

Just left the place right now so all this is fresh off the tongue. We were three, ordered two baby back ribs which comes with coleslaw, fries and a piece of bread. We also ordered some chicken. The ribs in my opinion were pretty good, not a 10, but maybe a 7. They aren’t smothered in sauce, you can add it on the side and with just enough fat that makes it fun and tasty. The coleslaw was my favorite it paired very well with the ribs. The chicken was a bit dry for our taste but still eatable. The worst thing was the corn which felt like it came from a frozen bag, I was excepting it to grilled because we were at a bbq place.
The restaurant was very clean and the staff was nice and accommodating. Except for this one guy who was really excited about the game and kept yelling which I found to be especially unprofessional and annoying. You’re not a patron and although you can definitely enjoy the game and watch while in down time, no one else was watching it or cared. By screaming every 10 minutes or so it just ruined the conversation and startled everyone. A small child started screaming at some point when the guy yelled out about football.

This place is great. Solid BBQ for an amazing price. Been here numerous times I have had the Texas Toast which is amazing with the pulled pork. Also note they very friendly and will customize your order. My coworker was able to get a double order of the pulled pork platter at a reasonable price.
Other positives is the ambience, they have many TVs in great viewing angles with sports on most of the day.
I haven’t tried the beer yet since I been coming Herr for lunch during work hours but will back to check that out.

It’s set up like your typical bbq joint. Mostly clean except for the 4 or 5 vacant tables that had yet to be bussed. The menu looks good in theory, but they fell short otherwise. Sent back chili twice because it was cold the first time and room temp the second. The third time it came back out with the cheese mixed in. It was turned into a dip. Ordered corn fritters as well. Think of a fried shrimp. Now remove the shrimp and add a few kernels or corn. I ordered a chicken sandwich. The chicken was ¹⁄₈^th of an inch thick. The baked beans that came with the sandwich tasted oddly familiar. They were awesome! They were Bush’s! The waitress on the other hand was very nice and helpful-​apologetic even. Removed the chili from the bill and offered us dessert. Hopefully she can take her talents to a restaurant where she doesn’t have to apologize as often.
I had to add this and hopefully the owner sees it. This was a first for me and I eat 90% of meals outside. We asked for flatware as none were on the table. The gentleman came back saying they only had one setup. They only had one extra knife and fork. There were maybe 4 or 5 other parties seated at the time. THEY. HAD. NO. EXTRA. UTENSILS. So, I gave my mom the extra fancy flatware while I used the plastic ones so kindly offered. I asked our actual server about 10 minutes later if they had anything in a more rigid design and she was able to rustle up a single fork. Guys, get your act together. You have a location in or close to one of the wealthiest zip codes in the United States and you can’t get your customers eating utensils?

How disappointed, I really hope that at some point they actually begin to use some sort of CHARCOAL to give it BBQ taste. Sent the spare ribs back as they were chewy and cold. My half chicken tasted oven cooked with absolutely no taste.
It’s a shame we needed another choice besides Shortys.

Over priced. The food takes forever. If it was great I would accept it. But this BBQ is mediocre at best.
Skip it, Shorty’s is better and that’s saying something.

Wow, really, really Bad! We’ve been planning on trying this place for a while as its close to the house, Last night was the night and holy crap was it terrible.
Total disarray, service was terrible, servers seemed very unprofessional and then the food just topped it off. First and last time.
Don’t waste your time or money!

I liked this bbq spot I really enjoyed the way the place is setup really gives you that south style BBQ feeling. All the tables are made out of wooden pallets which is something different and original.
We tried the pulled pork stuffed mac and cheese and the 3 meat combo with pulled pork, brisket and Spare ribs. Enjoyed both plates the spare ribs where really good. The brisket was ok i have had better but it wasn’t horrible. Overall i would revisit this location for linch or dinner again.
The staff are really friendly and on top of everything you need. Got my refill every time it was barely at the middle. Not disappointed with the service or food give this place a try yourself and let me know what you thought.

I have one word to summarize my experience at Uncle Toms… Meh. I wish I could say more, I see the lines that form but the few times I’ve been there it’s been disappointing. This was my first time at this particular location and the service was slow, I mean slow like you wonder if they forgot to put your order in. Not only did we wait forever but the servers never even came by to refill our drinks or check in. There was also a strange smell of smoke mixed with dirty rags, I get the smoke (it’s a bbq place) but the dirty rags?
The food itself wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t great either. The brisket sandwich lacked meat and the few slices, it have was full of fat. The fries were soggy and taste as if they had been fried in old grease. The fries probably were the worst part, considering we were there for lunch at 12 on a sat, there was no reason for the fries to be so bad. The Mac and cheese was the high point of the meal. It was cheesy decadent and huge for a side dish. The side of cole slaw was also good, the cabbage still had a nice bite and it wasn’t overly sweet. As you can probably guess, I won’t be back and would suggest you drive a little north to shorty’s.

The pull pork pork mac n cheese, the sweet potatoe, baby back rib and spare rib was awesome. The service by Shamar, Trevor and Lei was phenomenal. They gave great recommendations.

Had to write about a fabulous baby back rib dinner we had tonight. Picked up this afternoon with baked beans and slaw sides. OMG. So infused with smoke and flavor. This was a wonderful dinner for two and I strongly recommend this new addition to south Miami.
A nice note: while I waited for the «to go» dinner, I asked for an iced tea because they said it would be about 15 minutes. When I got the bill NO CHARGE. I know, I know, it cost them pennies. But the good will while I was waiting made an impression.
I will be back and love the ribs you guys serve.
