Generous portions on the Spice Menu of Summer 2014. We came here as a group of 7 for a friend’s Bday celebration. It was all of our first time, and majority ordered exclusively from the Spice Menu. My boyfriend and I had the salmon ceviche & duck tacos, both were amazing and full of flavor. For our entrees, we had the Afro-Cuban Pork & The District Burger, both juicy and cooked perfectly. My boyfriends burger had the biggest slice of brie I’ve ever seen on a burger. The Chocolate Delight dessert was sweet and a perfect way to end the meal. We were impressed enough that we came back and visited another time after the Spice promotion had ended. Sadly though, it appears now the restaurant has closed.

So close to giving this place a 5 star rating but the menu and food was not up to par. The location and décor is great! Especially the bottomless mimosas. But I feel like they can dedicate some TLC to their menu a little bit. No chicken and waffles?! It’s a brunch staple everywhere and a must on your menu, I think. That’s what I came looking for at least. I shared the the Guava French Toast and Steak and eggs with my husband and we ended up feeling a bit hungry so the portions are not enough. The steak was small but cooked perfectly and great taste. The french toast was good and I would love to have it again. Maybe next time I won’t share that one! haha! I would definitely return and recommend to my friends.

I am really saddened by the fact that I love the food at The District, the Guava French Toast, the Eggs Benedict, the District Burger(one of my fav burgers in town), but the service just kills the whole food experience. We have gone multiple times, always in hope for better service, but it is only worst and worst. Yesterday we waited for one hour for a table, then we sit and order something quick because we were starving and the food came out at a descent time, but our drinks took forever, a beer, a prosecco, and a mimosa, not even an elaborate drink. The mimosa and prosecco were hot so they added ice. And it took a while to refill. The main plates then took a while, and then when we finally get our foods it took a while to get utensils to eat them. My husband got his food and couldn’t eat it because after 4 times of asking for utensils, nobody would bring him any. They never even picked up the plates when we were done. We got so tired towards the end we just wanted to leave… and left. Please please please do something about the service!!! You have amazing food, the service is so important for people to come back…

Oh district. How I wanted so bad to believe these reviews weren’t true but boy were they. We came to celebrate an anniversary. We had a reservation 12:30 for a party of 13. 35 minutes later we were seated. What’s the point of a reservation then? I get they are packed and 10 even 15 minutes I would’ve been okay with, but not 35. Food was great, I have to give it to them. Guava French toast and the district burger were fantastic. And everyone had great things to say about their food. DJ was good, the vibe was trendy and fun! You also can’t beat the bottomless mimosas, But our waiter sucked. Everything you read here about the service is true. We had to asked our server every time to refill our unlimited mimosas and when he did he filled the glass ¼ of the way. He seemed to care more about the table next to us then anything. Again I get you’re busy but c’mon now. Checking in on us once in awhile wouldn’t kill you. You get two stars, one for food(it really is delicious) and one for ambiance, but that’s about it.

This review is ONLY a review of the burger… And It was delicious. In a city that seems to overcook every single damn burger, The District got this one right. The flavors and textures of the juicy bacon, brie, and chipotle entwine perfectly with the dripping burger.

My boyfriend and I met working here before they even opened. We came in for lunch yesterday and had a truly enjoyable experience. The restaurant is clean and well kept. Oscar, the GM, is very friendly and accommodating and the staff and chefs are fantastic. The menu is intricate and was well thought out(I was around while they were still putting it together!). I think the coolest thing about the dishes are the different tastes they incorporate. I am a picky eater but they have not disappointed. Highly recommended for lunch, dinner, drinks, etc. We are looking forward to trying out Sunday brunch next!

Awful. The staff was friendly and the décor was nice but that was about it. Didn’t get our orders taken until 30 min after sitting down. Then it took over an hour and a half to get our food which was maddening. Waited 10 minutes just to get a takeout box after asking 3 different waiters several times. And it wasn’t even busy at that time besides our party. Felt that these people did not value the customer’s time. Needs to get their act together. My burger was badly burnt and dry. The outside area we were sitting was swarming with mosquitoes(please get some mosquito lamps). Will not recommend this place. Don’t plan on coming back. To the restaurant: if you cannot handle a medium-large sized party, don’t take the business.

Redeemed! I didn’t have a five star first visit, but gave it another try, this time for brunch and was impressed. We had the kale salad which was great, the egg white frittata which was a huge portion and delicious, the salmon dish which I’d go back for and the bottomless mimosas which stayed full. The tuna tacos are amazing, just keep in mind it’s a small portion. The deviled eggs are great as well. The only thing I didn’t really like before was the tequila cocktail and I wasn’t a huge fan of the ceviche, but considering I’ve tried nearly 10 menu items I’m good with thoroughly enjoying 80%. Our service was excellent and the ambiance is great. I’d bring my folks here but my father only drinks domestic beers(miller lite, coors light, etc) so I’ll have to find a different place, but I’ll come back with friends.

While my hotel in Miami Beach was beautiful and had some fantastic food and beverage options, it’s important to branch out and experience some local gems. So, I entrusted in some locals to take me in the right direction, straight to The District Miami. They serve contemporary Pan-American cuisine, with the best dishes of North, South, Central America and the Caribbean, in a really warm environment with exposed brick and wooden clad walls. You’re brought out some little rolls to start, or as I’ll refer to them as, little butter bombs of deliciousness. They’re warm, with a slight crispness on the outside, but pillowy on the inside, a little sweet, and melt in your mouth. To drink, I had their El Limo(Don Julio Tequila, grapefruit purée, lime, spice). I can always have my drink a little spicier, so I think this one could have gone a little boost further, but it was a really nice drink, a bit of sweetness and tartness with a very smooth tequila. To start, we had to get their Sweet Yellow Grilled Corn(chipotle mayo, crumbled feta cheese, ancho). Man, I love corn, especially when it’s served like this. Each little cob comes skewered, so you can save yourself from some of it getting all over your fingers. The corn was sweet, crisp, and coated with a creamy chipotle mayo, and a touch of salt and texture from the feta cheese. I can never pass up octopus, if it’s on the menu. So, I ordered the Cast-Iron Octopus(quinoa, sweet peppers, cilantro, roasted eggplant purée, olive vinaigrette). We’ll get the minor issue out of the way, which was, I wish there was a bit more flavor to the quinoa, a touch of salt, a little pepper, just to enhance the sweet peppers and creaminess of the grain. But, there are little dots of olive vinaigrette, which, if combined with the quinoa, add for that perfect saltiness. Don’t even bother using that for the Octopus, because it’s perfection and doesn’t need anything added to it. It had the perfect amount of char on the outside and totally tender on the inside, with excellent flavor and pretty much melts in your mouth, just like those little butter bomb rolls. Then, I had the Tuna Tacos(tartare, guacamole, Togarashi peppers, scallions, yuzu mayo, toasted sesame seeds). These were so delicious. What I immediately noticed, and loved, was that these were served in root-chips instead of the regular tortilla(think Terra chips, the white one with red flecks… yeah, you know which one I’m talking about). The tuna was fresh, generously portioned in the mini tacos, and the other components went so nicely, complimenting each other’s flavors. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, so, you might have a tough time deciding, but I’m sure you’ll love whatever you choose. Insider tip from my fellow diner, «the best burger I’ve ever eaten». So, there’s that.

The first time I went to the District it was for brunch and the food(and mimosas) were quite tasty! I attempted to go a second time for dinner, though, and thought it was just okay. I just had drinks and appetizers but two of them were undercooked(scallops and meatballs) which was not at all appetizing. The service here, however, is fantastic. From the bartenders, to the host, to the servers, everyone is on point. Now, if they work on their kitchen a bit, I’d be happy to come back.

I went here for the first time for brunch and had such a great time. Apparently some Saturdays, they partner with a local pet adoption agency and have some dogs outside to look at or play with! Very dog friendly place overall I think. There was an option to donate $ 15 all to the pet organization and get a free dessert or champagne! Great deal for a great cause in my book. Service was kind of slow but we were having a great time anyway so we didn’t really notice, especially with the dogs to look at. The waiter was great though when he was with us. We ordered the District Burger(I love anything with Brie) and the Steak n Eggs. Both were good although the latter’s portion was a little small without any sides besides a couple of diced peppers. The District Burger was a big portion and was yummy and juicy and the handcut fries were great! We chose the Guava Bread Pudding for dessert which was amazing with the ice cream on top! Next time, I’m trying the Tuna Tacos everyone’s been raving about, it’s just that I was starving today and I know that the flavor’s out of this world but the portion is small. We will be back to this quaint restaurant! :)

After reading the prior reviews I was on the fence about going here but a couple of friends had good experiences here so I gave it a shot. Very glad I did. Our reservation was for 9 and we sat down at 9:01. The décor is very cool. We were impressed. Our waiter was Don and he was awesome. We had a bunch of small plates to start including Lamb meatballs and Tuna Tacos. Both were delish. We brought a bottle of wine($ 25 corkage). The main plates were great. The lamb 2 ways was on point and the burgers were so good. Even the dessert(choc flan) was excellent. No complaints about this place… I will return!

I went there for brunch and I got eggs Benedict. They were amazing!!! Amaaaazing. And only $ 11. The food was sophisticated yet not overly pricey. Whether your outside or inside the place looks great and they have valet parking if you need it. I’d definitely go back

5 stars for the food BUT the portions are like 1 star. In other words, don’t go starving to this restaurant, unless you don’t mind spending a lot of $$$ to feel satisfied(not full). Everything we tried was delicious: tuna tacos, snapper crudo, oysters, yuca mash, and Caribbean jerked cobia. The bathroom was immaculate, and the service was good. The ambiance is nice, especially for a date night(dim lights, dj playing house, cool decorations). It’s a shame about the portions because it’s the only thing that will keep me from going more often. Maybe it would be a good place to go for a pre-game(before going out to dinner) or just happy hour snacks(because that’s what the food portions here really are).

Such a cute spot and what will soon be a killer location, The District has quite an edge over upcoming competition. The décor is adorable and inviting. This spot happens to be near one of my favs(Lemoni Café) and hence the only reason I know of its existence. The food was good, nothing to rave about. I will return to try different items for dinner but its not on the top of my list. My updated review will be more detailed, I promise.

Went for brunch on Sunday. They have bottomless mimosas for $ 14. I like Bellinis better but they didnt have them which was a downer. We ordered the French Toast with Guava syrup, fish tacos and egg Benedicts. All very good and tasty. The server was really nice and attentive. He went out if hus way to make me a special drink for my stomach ache. I will definitely return soon.

This place is the textbook definition of a three star restaurant in my opinion; nothing was just THAT good to want to give it four stars, and the reviews kind of give you that idea, which is why it took me so long to try this restaurant in the first place. I came for brunch, and would like to state that my 3 stars are in no way affected by the fact that me and probably about 5 other guests on this brunch day alone were towed from the front of the restaurant, who doesn’t even give you the heads up in advance. Of course, the skeptical auditor in me wonders whether there is some sort of kick back given to the restaurant or even the waiters for the towing, and that’s why they don’t mention it… anyway, on to the review. I didn’t have the same horrible service problem that the average reviewer complains about… But the«best items» just weren’t good enough to make me want to come back. For example, the omelet with brie that comes beautifully presented in a ceramic pot is totally lacking in flavor and dry. The huevos rancheros were easily the best item on the menu. Even though our reservations were for 11:30AM, they were out of the broccolini and had no vegetable item to take its place. Can you feature a salad or something in its place? The guava French toast was pretty good, but 8 hungry girls drinking chose not to finish it — bad sign? And lastly, the breakfast potatoes are literally mediocre French fries, so get over the false advertising and call them that. As for the drinks, these are actually really good. They have mango and passion fruit mimosas at like 15 $ a piece and then unlimited mimosas for a fixed rate, but those are not included here. Is the passion fruit and mango juice really significantly more expensive than orange juice that you can’t just include them all? I thought that was overall cheap on the restaurant’s behalf. The bloody Mary’s were pretty solid also, not the best I have had, but good. Lastly, the ambience is great. If I ever go back to this restaurant, it would be only for a first date, where ambience ranks first, but likely, I won’t.

The District is just so lovable. It has a certain kind of charm that’s hard to find around SoFlo. The staff are so friendly and at brunch they have the coolest DJ on the block. I visited this little gem on Sunday for a friends birthday brunch and loved it. We had the salmon bagel platter and the pineapple pancakes for the table. The bagel platter was your typical platter loaded with fresh veggies, salmon and cream cheese. It was pretty straightforward and traditional and there’s nothing wrong with that. The pancakes were oozing with a light syrup and covered with pineapple. The pineapple kind of seemed like it was from a can but nonetheless scrumptious. My entrée was the king crab eggs Benedict. The bread at the bottom wasn’t your standard English muffin, instead it was more like a buttery biscuit meets cornbread. The crab was sparse but surprisingly held its own. The hollandaise was extremely rich almost like an aoli. All the components were on pout except the most important one, the eggs. They were over cooked, the yolk was just past a soft boiled egg. This meant no runny yoke to complete the sauce and even though everything else was perfect, this dish left me underwhelmed, hence the 4 stars. Despite the benny let down I’m eager to go back. Not sure I would order the same thing again, even though something tells me it was just a fluke. I really want to try there dinner menu and sit outside. It was still a little warm on our last visit but the side patio looks like it’s out of movie.

After that epic Unilocal Elite dinner party a while back, I’ve been dying to come back to the District for brunch. I feel like singing Sade… It’s never as good as the first time… Service was inconsistent and the food mediocre. The house music was way too loud, we couldn’t understand our wait staff and they couldn’t understand us. The tuna tacos are microscopic. For $ 15 you get literally three bites. The crab deviled eggs were good, but all I tasted was mayo. While they weren’t bad I would not order them again. The only dish that was reasonably priced were the pineapple pancakes. Three dinner-plate sized pancakes topped with warm pineapple, fluffy, moist, not too sweet. You know your pancakes are good when you don’t need syrup to wash them down. I do wish they offered a whole grain or buckwheat option, anything other than white flour, really. Finally, I remembered the four leches parfait being super yummy from the Unilocal event. So delicious that I ordered it instead of guava bread pudding. Anyone who knows me will appreciate how huge that is. Bread pudding is my kryptonite. How disappointing — the macadamia nuts in the parfait had gone bad so all I tasted were rancid nuts. How does that happen in a restaurant of this caliber? Filed in the no-repeat list.
