Taco Maker is a chain restaurant I’m very in love with back at home(Puerto Rico), and when I found out they were opening one here I was super excited. However, it’s not the same. They tried to make it into a chipotle-style type of Taco Maker when it’s supposed to be more of a fast food Taco Bell restaurant. They don’t have the same menu items, and I was very disappointed because it’s more expensive too. I guess I’ll have to wait to go back home to get the real deal.

I really enjoyed their food and the employees are very friendly. The different types of meats were very tasty I ended up picking the regular chicken but for next time I’d get some hard tacos with the chicken in that tasty brought. I really liked this place, highly recommended.

They are not as bad as everyone puts it. They are ok and the food isn’t that bad. Definitely a little pricy for the quality. I always order the salad bowl with carnitas and is good. I go once a month

Really enjoyed my chicken quesadilla — opted for breast meat. Staff was really nice.

I knew that this place was going to be a bad choice the second I saw the amount of greasy juice the meat was sitting in. But I tried not to judge a book by its cover, and so I began to order a burrito. They allowed you to sample the meat, and it was evident that the quality is very low.(but I’m not one to say no thank you after initiating the process of ordering) They charged a $ 1 extra for beans, corn, tomatoes, and a few pieces of avocado, which I thought was a little pricey for the quality. But what killed me what the price at the end! After all the add-ons I needed about $ 9 for the worst quality burrito I’ve had in a long time. That’s maybe the same price with chipotle that’s 100x better and organic. I will not be going back unless they improve the quality or drop the prices.

This was my second time here and I really debated if I wanted to even come eat here this time. I decided to drop in and see if I could change my mind about how I felt, wasn’t worth the money. They’re a little pricey for quality of food they’re serving you. Also, The taste of the food is bland and seems as if it’s missing something. Save your money and go to a local mexican restauran honestly, chili’s and even taco bell would be better choices. The only reason I didn’t one star this reveiw, is because they tried with their customer service.

Since its opening, I had always seen this restaurant but never tried it because it didn’t look appealing to me and I’m not a huge Mexican food lover. But one day, my bf and I decided to give it a try. Once we walked in we were greeted by Julie, I believe is her name, and she was very sweet. She informed me that this is a family owned restaurant. I also saw her father helping out customers order their food. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Julie explained the menu and advised us on getting certain items. I ordered a chicken salad, and my bf ordered 3 chicken tacos. Just a heads up, the chicken is a little spicy. But I guess that’s what you expect from a Mexican restaurant. My salad tasted very fresh and light. My bf enjoyed his chicken tacos, and also believes that the food tasted healthy and light. This is the type of place you go when you want something light and fresh, without hurting your pocket. I would come back.

Despite the semi negative reviews I decided to give this place a chance. I walked in and was promptly greeted by one of the workers. I decided to play it «safe» and go for a burrito. This restaurant kind of follows the model chipotle has which is a «build your own» burrito, taco or whatever. At first glance the options honestly didn’t look visually appealing, I decided to go with white cilantro rice, fajita chicken, no beans, a special red sauce they had, cheese and sour cream. Like I said very basic and«safe». The worker ringed me up and I got a 10% discount for showing my FIUID. On top of that, if you check in through Unilocal it opens an offer for you to receive a free soft drink with an entrée purchase. My initial experience of the lack of visual appeal for the ingredients display melted away the second I took the first bite of the burrito. It seemed as if every flavor was blending just right. On top of that even though this is a burrito, every bite felt so light and clean(we all know how bad we feel when we eat something extremely greasy, this is the total opposite feeling!) It was a delicious burrito and it definitely made me consider this as a new go to place to get my burrito fix. I would definitely recommend you try it! P. s. The Nutella cheesecake fried pie they have is amazing!

Hmmmm so I’m still wondering how two small Mexican grill bowls &2 juices came out to $ 24. And on top of it all, the girl who prepared my bowl didn’t ask if I wanted guacamole & then I was told it would be $ 1.87 for this embarrassing serving. Needless to say, didn’t purchase it. No bueno in my book. In regards to food taste, there really wasn’t anything that sets this place apart. I am Hispanic, we cook flavorful food and you can tell this is a Hispanic establishment that is just lacking. Upcharging for every little thing does not show that you appreciate the customer. You still have much to learn but you are lucky you are in a mall across FIU that will bring you some type of traffic.

Taco Maker is essentially a knock off of Chipotle or Moes– but it is decent food. There are more topping and meat options than the other places, just not quite as good. However, it’s close to FIU and open much later which is awesome. I’ve been a few times and I’ll continue to go. They serve breakfast too which is nice.

I came here for the first time and definitely won’t be coming back. The portions are super small and it really bother me the guy who was making my tacos even returned some of the little meat he had put in them to his tray… I guess one pound of meat is supposed to last for 100 customers… I asked for guacamole and its $ 1.75 extra for two mini mini spoons… Not happy and sorry but won’t be recommending and I’m not coming back…

Was excited to try this place out. I have been on a burrito bender these last few weeks so having another place to go to is always nice. The place is large, well lit and in a strip mall with plenty of parking. All pluses. The waitstaff was all very friendly and accommodating. Plus Plus As for the feed? It was good. I have just had much better burritos at other places around Miami. My portion was kinda skimpy for a vegetarian burrito. And the girl rolling it didn’t seem to know how to do it well either. Took her a few tries to get it done. No complaints, but it definitely had a college cafeteria vibe to me. If I am in the area I would have no problem stopping in a for a cheap bite to eat. But it’s not good enough to draw me back.

It’s an okay place. Came on a Thursday night right after work from FIU. Greeted by staff as soon as I walked in and took a second to review the menu. The pictures look good, I ended up getting the grande platter with ground beef. I really wanted some rice in the burrito but was informed I couldn’t :(so a little sad. The taste of the food was okay nothing bad nor nothing too great. I’m not too sure if I would come back here again I would just make the drive a little further to chipotle. FIU students get a 10% discount when showing ID. :)

I usually grab a sub before I hit the books in FIU so I just happened to be in the shopping area. I’d noticed before that this place was under construction so when I saw it was open today I decided to try it out. Today happened to be opening night! Lucky me. The staff is very friendly and the place was full of people. I took a look at the menu and the taco trio stood out. Considering the name of the place I figured this was a fine place to start. So it all goes down like this: You get hard shell by default so if you like soft shells be ready to request it. You then specify what meat you want(choice between grilled chicken, spicy chicken, steak, or pulled pork). Once they’ve loaded you up they pass your plate over to the toppings station where you’ll have some standard options as well as some premiums. The standards are pretty standard. Finely shredded cheese, lettuce, some corn salsa. Now on to the premium toppings. They didn’t tell me and it wasn’t specified anywhere but it is a separate station and it is EXTRA. You’ve got your choice of pico de gallo, guacamole, as well as some red and green sauce. I got grilled chicken with shredded cheese, lettuce and pico de gallo which was recommended by the employee. The total was just over $ 8 but I received a 10% discount for having my FIUID. I’ve gotta say that the taco shells were perfect. They were fresh and not too crunchy. Great taste. The chicken was a bit dry but no fatty chicken which I appreciate. Pico de gallo has some cut jalapeños that give it a nice flavor but don’t add much kick. In all sincerity, I prefer the pico de gallo I make at home & the chicken from chipotle is better. The meal was a little over priced but it was not bad. I don’t think I’ll be a regular but if I’m in the area and I want a fast taco I’ll drop in.
