My son started taking classes to learn guitar about 15 months ago at the School of Rock in Miami. In that short amount of time, not only has he learned how to play a musical instrument very well, but his self-confidence has gone through the roof. He has had the opportunity to perform live with some amazingly talented young people. The teachers are enthusiastic and center their instruction around each individual child’s likes. They are committed and caring; and the children reap the rewards of that kind of dedication. We are so happy we found this place!

School of Rock is a great way for kids to learn to play instruments and have a great time. It’s a no pressure environment with terrific teachers. My daughter is learning to play guitar and having a blast. Mark and Arturo understand the kids and how to teach them. Kids are very quickly playing in the band(Rock 101) and actually sound pretty good! Soraya and Lou(the business people) are a pleasure to deal with.

In a nutshell, SOR has truly helped solidify and enhance my daughter’s interest in playing music. It continues to be a very fun, positive experience for her. I am not sure she could have this kind of experience elsewhere. Lou and the team are all top-notch.

My son has been a student at SOR for 2 years, and he has made incredible improvements in his playing. He has participated in several camps, Rock 101, 4 Show bands and now as a member of the house band. We have had interaction with the following teachers, Stephy, Marcel, Jesse, Chris, and Lou(GM) and 5 stars for all, with exception of Alberto would receive an unlimited amount of stars and praise from me. They have taught(and encouraged) him to play the guitar, bass, and keyboard. I am very happy parent of the SOR Miami location.

Great concept, poor execution! I’ll start with positive. My son takes drumming lessons here with Chris. Chris is young & talented and seems to have patience with«energetic» kids such as mine. To be honest, he is the ONLY reason we continue to put up with this place. So far we are happy with our son’s progress and he seems eager & motivated every Saturday to come to class. Chris uses simple rock songs to teach. So far he’s used We Will Rock You from Queen, TNT from ACDC, and Seven Nation Army from White Stripes. It’s awesome to hear my kid rock out to songs like that. I love it. He’s only 5! More advanced levels get the opportunity to interact with other students in a «band», which I think is pretty neat. And they constantly have events and gigs for the students to perform in different venues such as Tobacco Road, Avenue D, The Joint, etc. Prices are on the higher end from what I’ve seen, but the classes are 45 mins instead of a half hour. On to the negative. To be honest, I don’t understand how they survive as a business. Scheduling has been very challenging whenever there’s been need for a make up class. Communication is not up there either. They may or may not tell you in advance your class has been cancelled or moved to another instructor. They show up late to class constantly, and unless you complain, they won’t make up that time. Instead, they’ll offer another day to make it up after you’ve already driven there. That kind unprofessionalism really frustrates me. In terms of the place itself, since Im being honest, it really needs an overhaul. At OPENING time, it’s dirty, trash cans are full, cups and garbage lying around… poor management. The classrooms are equipped with what they need but the common areas & the band room are pretty run down. Such a shame because they truly have talented musicians and the idea has a ton of potential.
