I came for the Wyclef Jean concert. This place has a great vibe. DJ Stern must be someone’s brother that needed a job. He needs to try something else cause he sucks! He needs to learn what the fucking RPM is so he can properly transition between songs!

Preface: This was the 1st time I went to Ricochet. I went with 2 friends on a Saturday night around 11. The Good: 1) I thought the DJ was pretty damn good, playing a lot of songs that everyone can dance but also sing to. 2) No cover. I’m not sure if this is normal or not but we just got our IDs checked and walked in. Cover is stupid and not charging cover earned them some kudos from me. 3) If you«like» Ricochet on Facebook, you get a free shot… ANDIT’S A REALSHOT. I don’t know what it’s called or what’s in it, but it was strong. Chicka chicka yeah! 4) Drink prices are fine. For not paying cover and getting free shots, I thought drink prices would be a fortune like SoBe or Brickell but my beers were $ 6/bottle which I can definitely deal with. 5) Good place to dance if you like to dance but also talk and relax if that’s more your scene. 6) Good crowd. Through my beer goggles I guessed most people were in their early to mid 20’s. Not so good: I’d really have to nitpick to find something to complain about and even that’s hard. I had a good time and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. I’d give this place a 4.5 rating if possible.

I’m always looking for a new favorite spot & after finally trying Ricochet, I can say I’ve found it. Fridays have to be my favorite night with ladies drinking free 10−12am and the music is a mix of top 40 with my all time favorite throwback jams. The crowd is young, but not too young that you’re stuck wondering if half the people in there have fake IDs. If you check yourself and your party in on FB, you all get free shots too! Can’t beat that, but be warned the shots can kill ya. Reason I can’t give this place 5 stars though is 1: the bathroom lines are RIDICULOUS. So bad you need to venture around midtown for an alternative and 2: the drink prices are a bit steep with automatic tip applied. not a fan. Yet, besides this I absolutely love it and find myself coming back whenever I can.

Not bad… the bathroom lines were pathetic. Decent music, and quick bartenders, bring your own crew to party with.

Place is pretty good, but it’s a lot like so many other places. I guess it’s difficult to stand out in an area with so much to do. If they’re playing the music you like and you like the people you’re with you’ll like this place, oh that;s right that would apply to pretty much anyplace :-) Good spot cause if it’s not your thing there are bunch of places within walking distance.

Ricochet Bar & Lounge is a fabulous spot for a low key night with a good group of buddies. A nice dimly lit and well decorated space that plays good music. What else do you need?!? We had a groupon for $ 50 dollars, went in and spent it on a bottle of champagne. We arrive at roughly 11 pm, and by the time we left a couple of hours later, the crowd was poppin! Everyone was dancing and it was definitely a good night in the making. Like the sign on the wall says, «Go home alone, go home with a stranger… Or don’t go home at all!» Good times. I’ll definitely be back!

While parking some sub promoter walked up and gave us wrist bands. She was pretty energetic and convinced me Ricochet wouldn’t disappoint. Gorilla marketing at it’s best. Once inside Ricochet the vibe felt upscale, yet hip enough where a young crowd could actually enjoy themselves. The DJ was all over the place with the song selection. Not sure what demographic he was catering to, but it was flat out annoying at times. Service was great. All bartenders were extremely friendly and always alert. All bills have AUTOMATIC tips applied. I found this to be a little ridiculous, but then again I’m a cheap guy. The drink specials for women was insane. Women drink free from 10pm-12am. Next time I go I’m bringing a wig. I’m from Chicago, and as a guest of Miami I can say I really had a good time at Ricochet.

First time visit on a Friday night, arrived around 11pm. It was pretty early so it had a small group of people with their own parties. Bar staff was very friendly and attentive. Loved the décor and the crowd, very trendy mostly 25 – 35. it began to get crowded around the time i had to leave, around 1:30a. Music was awesome and i ordered a drink called Purple Rain, Loved it(but pricey)! Bathrooms were clean with an attendant, loved the funky artwork on the walls. I would definitely return or plan an event to meet with friends.

The first time I ever heard about Ricochet Bar and Lounge was after winning tickets to see Neon Trees from an online Facebook contest. And I must admit, that although I did not know about Ricochet before hand, it has definitely earned a special spot among all my favorite places in Midtown Miami. Why is it such a good place? — First of all, if you are looking for a place to hang out at a bar. This would be an ideal place because it is walking distance from an affordable $ 1 per hour parking garage(first hour is free) and inexpensive eateries such as Sakaya Kitchen and 100 Montaditos– absolutely delicious! — I must admit that the place could be bigger, but it makes you feel like at home because it is built to be a very intimate bar. Now, the cons: — It didn’t seem like there was a lot of seating. There were a few tables with chairs and a lounging area to the side, but other than that this place did not have a lot of seats. I just hope it doesn’t get too crowded. — My friend ordered a rum and coke, and she said it mostly tasted like alcohol. It was funny seeing her try to finish her drink when you could tell she did not like drinks that were made dominantly of alcohol. It was also $ 11(yikes– but hey it was a free event, so they have to make their money some how.) Overall, I would probably come here again because Midtown has good places to eat, and now I know it has a bar. Good place to hangout! They also offer a free shot if you show them your Facebook!

We were able to check out an awesome show at Ricochet courtesy of South Florida Music Obsessed. The band was Grouplove and the show was awesome! Drinks are not quite, but almost South Beach prices. Considering we won the tickets we didn’t mind the price. It was very clean, the bartenders poured real drinks and were very attentive. There was only one seating area for the show along the one wall which was all VIP. Not sure about seats when there is no show. Did not sample the food as there wasn’t any menus or anything available, but would definitely go back. Great cool venue in Midtown!

Came here to unwind and try the happy hour food(½ off!) with a BFF, but there was none to be had. The server said«We’re out of food.» Whaaaaat?! What there was to be had was the Heat game on REALLYLOUD and overpriced wine with an auto-tip. Aaaaahhh – so THAT was the reason for the crap service. You already got your money. :) Auto-tipping should only be instituted at tourist places, and Miami tourists don’t seek out local lounges like Ricochet often. What they just did is annoy some locals who won’t be coming back. The décor is very nice, and the location is convenient. However, when it’s too loud to have a conversation(and I’m not in a sports bar), I lose interest quickly. Sad.

This past Friday I ventured over to Ricochet for an after work cocktail but I’m not really sure how i feel about it. Its not the décor, the lounge is cool, great colors, spacious layout. The bar is pretty cool too, shaped like a giant triangle. Which would be beneficial if it was crowded but that’s the thing… no one was there… crickets. Perhaps that was the problem, maybe its more of a night scene than an after work drinks place. Either way I’ll be back for Midtown Bar Crawl, stay tuned for an update. :)

Update 04⁄20: Last time I was there, I had a tab and left my card there(happened a few times before…). Returned the next day and my card is not there. It so happens that a few days later, I get 2 $ 500+ charges at the Target across the street from it. I called the manager, told me he would get back to me and NEVER heard back from him again. Not even an apology when it is clear that a bartender or maybe him, used my card! I understand I left my card so part of it is my fault, but it was in the cash register, they charged me my bill then took my card and spent money at Target.

I will start with three stars for now. Came here this past weekend with a good friend and we were just wanting a cool spot to hang out and girl talk. When we arrived they did have the velvet rope and was charging a cover. At first I was like WTH, but when I inquired about the cost and why?, the nice gentleman said it was only $ 5 due to two Indie bands that were playing that night. K, cool no problem, no line, $ 5 it’s all good. When we walked in they had tables lined up to the right for bottle service. Yep Reserved for those high ballers. Seriously, band or no band IMO having these tables reserved for bottle service was a bit much. I mean Midtown is NOT the beach. This was a turn off for me. Now the space I did like. It is dark, a huge bar that wraps around the entire floor space. I did like the layout but the place is not very big at all. This particular night they had four bartenders and let me tell you it was NOT enough. Trying to get served was almost impossible. Luckily for me my 6 foot friend stood on top of the bar stool to make sure we got to order drinks. The bartenders were friendly but could not handle the crowd for sure. The band started to play and they were good, no complaints, good sound, good voices, yeah they were cool. Because they were an Indie band the place was filled with hipsters and I mean filled. I have nothing against hipsters at all but oh boy did I completely feel out of my element here. I drank wine, my friend beer, our bill was a tad high, as prices are more on the steep side here. I did try the sliders, they were edible but nothing special. The crowd was your typical in a bar, oh let me hit on you with some god awful pick up lines. ha ha thank goodness I did not have to deal with it. My young beautiful friend had several douches trying to pick her up. Really dudes, certain lines are just well, creepy. I am looking forward to visiting this bar again as I think it is and can be a cool place but this particular night, way to crowded, the reserved tables, and having such a hard time getting drinks was a turn off.

Totally impressed with this bar. Funny I’ve been to midtown so many times and it never occurred to check this place out. Thankfully I found out a local band by the name of Arboles Libres was playing and gladly attended. Loved the décor, modern and chic. Great laidback crowd, good staff and affordable drinks. No cover! This place is a great addition to the Midtown area and will def see more of me in the future.

This is supposed to be a place you come to play games. So why is there a velvet rope outside and a girl with a clipboard? Why do you have to order the games you wish to play from a table and can’t have them at the bar? Why are drinks so expensive? Why are there people performing heavy duty work on the ceiling at 9pm on a Friday night? Why does the bar take up 65% of the floor space? Why is the bartender too«busy» to serve me? Why would I ever come here again? You guessed it; I probably won’t.

Overall, terrible venue, but there was SOME positive, so let’s start there. Sound system was amazing. I saw Ed Kowalczyk there tonight(former lead singer of LIVE, solo now, & still my favorite) and he was phenomenal. So they got Eddie K to play there, that’s rad. But ugh, the crowd. Yes, there were some die hard LIVE/Eddie K fans, and that was awesome, but the tables reserved for Miami d’bags w/money who like to pretend they’re famous – ugh, I can’t stand that crap. And Dennis Rodman? Why was he even there and why was he so drunk and how is he even relevant anymore? Why am I even still talking about him? The bartenders sucked. I waited 10 minutes for the bartender to even acknowledge my existence; when he finally asked me what I wanted, he told me to give him a minute because he was hungover from new years. Um what? Another 5 minutes went by, I had to flag him down, then he called me «baby»(NOT acceptable) and made the hangover excuse again before finally getting me a drink. My friend that I was with had a similar experience with another bartender. The bathroom screamed TRYINGTOOHARD. Chalkboard walls are a really cool concept… when they’re ACTUALLY chalkboards and people can ACTUALLY write on them. These were fake w/childlike fake chalk drawings on them. I know they’re fake because I tried to erase them. What else? It was FREEZING in there. Do we really need the AC on full blast when it’s in the 60s out? I think not. Oh and Eddie didn’t go on until more than an hour after the advertised time(I choose to blame the venue, not him, he can do no wrong in my eyes). Two stars instead of just one for having good sound and my favorite singer-songwriter EVER. But unless they get Ed Kowalczyk in there again, I am done with Ricochet.

I would call this place the Anti-Bardot. Same neighborhood yet no asswipe bouncer, no velvet rope. It’s a great venue with a good looking crowd and plenty of space to have a good time. Located right around the corner from Sugarcane, it’s a very convenient spot to grab some libations after dinner if you are in Midtown. You can definitely not have too many good lounges and Ricochet fills a nice void in the area. Our bartender Miggy was very cool and we never had to wait more than 30 seconds to grab a drink. Prices are pretty much in line with the Miami standard $ 10 -$ 12. Would like to see a DJ here as the jukebox selection is very varied, but otherwise a great spot to grab some drinks and have a great time without any hassle.

It seems that Midtown is booming at blazing speeds. Way faster than DSL : D I checked out Ricochet the day before they had their ‘official’ opening, and their kitchen was closed. So I didn’t get to sample their ‘small bite’ menu. But their cocktails were solid, as was the sound system, service, and ambiance. Ricochet management is encouraging patrons to utilize the space as a Happy Hour spot to enjoy drink specials and board games. Truth be told, it almost seems a little too nice for that. But maybe I’m just humble and dont consider myself worthy. The space leans more towards the swanky side, with comfy lounge chairs, purple hues, and aged wood walls. I think they’ll be bringing out dj’s and live acts soon enough, so you’ll definitely be able to see Ricochet as a destination night spot. It’s in the heart of midtown, behind Sugarcane. Or if you’re walking outside of Montaditos, head left(south) to the corner, and it’s right there on the left.
