I haven’t been here since 2011, but I started going in 2010 when they opened. I used to go to Miami multiple times a year and I always made sure to stop by Planet Sushi. They have some of the most different sushi, really cool creations. I like how you can watch the chef make the sushi on a screen. The décor is really nice too.

A European take on sushi restaurants. Water comes in a carafe and the employees speak French :) The menu has a huge variety of options, including spring rolls, rolls without nori and a delicious dessert menu. The tempura cheesecake and the tempura banana plates are both very large and come with hefty portions of ice-cream, chocolate sauce and sprinkles. Also, asking for extra sauce on the side is free(no .50 $ charge for spicy mayo!). You may sit inside or outside and service is quick and attentive but probably because it is usually empty. Prices are normal for a nice sushi restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant for sushi lovers.

The one thing that sets Planet Sushi apart from other sushi places, in my opinion? Their assortment of «red» rice-less maki rolls, spring rolls(the raw version) and variety of vegetarian options. Besides that, the prices are high and portions very small. For starters, the coconut shrimp soup. Served steaming hot and fresh, I found the lemongrass flavor overpowering. It needed a better balance of sweet coconut and salty shrimp. Steamed shrimp shu mai — pretty standard. The eel yakitori had great flavor(then again, ANYTHING tastes great with eel sauce) but the eel skin was not crispy and as a result, the fish felt almost slimy. The Planet«pancake» was interesting and I am still not sure whether I like it or not. It’s sushi rice shaped into a pancake, tempura fried, then topped with spicy salmon tartar and a creamy avocado-mayo-relish. It desperately needed salt. Once we dipped it in pure soy sauce, we did enjoy it. That being said, $ 35 later we were still hungry and not about to drop another $ 9 on a 6 piece sushi roll or dessert. Avoid.

Planet Sushi– one of the seventeen thousand places to get sushi in Brickell. Which one is it again? Oh yes, the one next to Burger King. Since they’re on the outskirts of MBV, there’s free parking! Woo! I like this place. It’s never very busy, which usually worries me when I’m about to eat raw, *hopefully* fresh fish. But I have yet to have a problem here with freshness. The service is friendly, sushi is consistently tasty, and they have good water(random, but important.) I don’t know how I got signed up for their e-mails, but every once in a while I’ll get an e-mail with a coupon and that always brings me back to Planet Sushi. Yep, I’m cheap.

So basically this is your standard Miami restaurant. All white, pseudo-fancy, tiny plates, big price tag, and in a strip mall to finish it all off. I went because I bought a groupon deal. My friend and I ordered a salmon and avocado tartar, the tuna/scallion/salmon maki, the dragon roll, and for the dessert we ordered the chocolate fondant. None of the plates were that good but they were all edible except for the chocolate fondant, really the tiniest lava cake I’ve seen, that was chalky and dry. The total came and we had gone more than $ 20 in our allowance of groupon and really I don’t think I’ve even been so hungry after eating $ 50 of food. I don’t think I’ll be back.

Given the lack of great reviews I was never really interested in trying out Planet Sushi considering all of the other sushi options in the area. However, my co-worker purchased a Groupon for Planet Sushi so we decided to have lunch there yesterday with 2 other co-workers. When we walked in we were told to sit wherever we’d like so we chose a table closest to the back wall. Our server(the only server in the entire restaurant) was hustling to attend to other customers so it took him longer than usual to take our order. No big deal, we just chatted it up. Once our order was in, my co-worker muttered, «Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!» as she looked up toward the TV screen behind us. We turned around to see what had caught her attention…2HUGE cockroaches walking along the wall. A sense of uneasiness crept over all of us as another 3 cockroaches climbed out of the Planet Sushi sign adorning the back wall. I’m not exaggerating when I say these cockroaches were huge and fluttering their wings. I fully understand that in Miami it is inevitable for any business or house to have cockroaches here and there and I’m also not oblivious to the fact that most restaurants are not as clean as we would like them to be. This case, however, could not be overlooked and we got up immediately to cancel our order(by this time the 5 cockroaches had already made their way to the ceiling, scurrying across). When we politely told the server why we were canceling our order and pointed to the roach infestation, he just nodded his head and non-nonchalantly replied, «Oh, I know about the problem.» It was almost comical! I felt bad for the other patrons that were still inside because they had their backs to the wall and could not see what was going on. Even though my review is not based on the quality of the food, I felt obligated to let everyone else know about our experience. All I can say is NEVERAGAIN!

Bought a Groupon for $ 20 off $ 40. The sushi was good but expensive. We tried the makiroquette salmon cheese roll, the Planet pizza, the lobster roll, surimi maki. I would go back just for the makiroquette salmon cheese roll — it was delicious!

I rather not rate this place was horrible. My sushi selection was the tuna, salmon, white fish & tamago and all I can say the water w/lemon was the only thing that was to have a wet taste. The fish was not fresh and I will never go back and the staff did not seem thrilled that I walked in when there was 1 other customer there and it was during biz hrs.

On our last night in Miami, my friends and I walked around and found Planet Sushi using the Unilocal app which was also nice because I got a 10% off coupon for just checking into the place. :) the coupon is good for 4 hours after you check in. just fyi. the place is beautiful, very fun pink lighting and chic white décor. I loved their tv’s that showed the sushi being made behind the bar. Very fun to watch your food being made! The sushi was delicious! very fresh The menu was very appealing lots of combinations and a la carte options all reasonably priced. A rainbow roll was about $ 10 which is par to what I pay back home in Baltimore. My favorite part of the dining experience was the frozen water bottles they used to pour [what I’m sure was tap water] it just made the water taste so much fresher. The frozen bottle was left at the table which is a big plus for our group because we were parched after walking around and being hungover. The server was very nice and even making some sarcastic jokes at my dumb questions which was fun. Plenty of people to watch in the restaurant as well as walking past outside. All in all a great dining experience! Would definitely recommend to everyone that likes sushi!

Friendly service, but extremely overpriced for mediocre sushi. At $ 6 for a six piece roll it’s basically a dollar a bite and really it’s not worth the money. The spicy tuna roll was anything, but spicy and I’m not sure how fresh the tuna was. My salmon roll was warm… ik

I’ll start by saying that the sushi here is fresh and of good quality. That being said, I’ve passed by this place a few times since it opened and have been a little turned off by the fact that no one is in there. When I arrived for dinner yesterday, there was one other couple dining and another table with one of the owners sitting, eating and working at the table. The restaurant has a modern, futuristic feel and is clearly a European chain. It just feels like a place you’d happen upon in a European city. I like the modern, but don’t like how there are TVs everywhere… that’s just not how I like to dine. The prices are reasonable, but the portions are rather small for my liking. I’m used to a roll being pretty sizable and consisting of 8 rolls. Their Maki(rolls) are small and 6 pieces. The service is friendly. I like that in true European style, they do not bring the check until you ask for it. One thing that I’ll mention… when I eat sushi, I like to see that the sushi chefs are Japanese. I know this might not be fair to say, but I just feel better when they are… and it doesn’t appear that they have any.

Stopped by for lunch on a weekday with a coworker. We were the only ones in there which was a bit worrisome at first, but I have been to the Miami Beach location so I knew what we were getting into. The place is clean with a simplistic modern feel to it. Our waitress came by right away and took our order. The picture menu is very helpful, especially for their signature items. I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t have a defined lunch menu like other sushi chains. You know, those that are pre fixe with a drink, soup or salad and roll or entrée. We ordered the lunch teriyaki; one salmon and one beef. I preferred the beef more, but both were equally delicious. By the time we left, the restaurant had several people dining. Prices are higher than other nearby similar fare establishments, but I believe this is in the quality of the food. The owner stopped by and had a lovely chat with us. With 30-something locations, he seems to know what he is doing. I’ll be back for more!

After getting several recommendations for planet sushi I decided yesterday I would try it for myself. I walked in to order for take out and i was attended right away. I ordered the dragon roll and waited outside with my pup while it was being prepared. I thought the décor inside was really cool. They have flat screens all over which I love in a restaurant. The sushi prices were normal. At competing sushi locations you pay $ 15 for a dragon here it was $ 11. When it was done they brought it outside to me. I thought the roll was fresh and really tasty. The eel sauce was good too. Parking is extremely convenient or if you live close by like me you can walk!
