This was the club to be at when it first opened. It had four rooms with different types of songs. It closed down a few weeks ago

Sometimes this place gets good djs but overall the place is awful. If you are a tourist go to a real club and not here. Bouncers are self conscious and on power trips. They charge extra if you are dressed nice and they feel threatened.

I came here for FSOB, so I’m a little biased because the music was SO good and you gotta love a breaks crowd — they’re there to dance, old enough to handle their shit, and not at all about clubwear, bottle service, selfies, or attitude(all the reasons I usually avoid clubs in the first place). That said, I was really impressed with the space. It’s HUGE… a giant building that takes up a whole city block, with a labyrinthine system of rooms, bars, bathrooms and hallways so that even with a good-sized crowd(Facebook invite had something like 2K RSVPs) I never felt claustrophobically crowded or had to wait too long for a drink or a bathroom. Each of the rooms is decorated nicely(the one with hanging fabric and chandeliers was my favorite), and at least for this party there seemed to be plenty of places to sit that didn’t require bottle service.(Not that anyone was sitting — the music was too good!). The sound systems were good — big ol’ speaker stacks turned way up high, like they should be for music like this. When you stood near them you could feel all your internal organs vibrate to the bass. Definitely a place to utilize your ear plugs! A friend told us that the door is usually a nightmare, but I guess we came early enough that it wasn’t a problem, and the people working door were actually super sweet and helpful to us. It was kind of confusing, though, and I could see it being terrible if you’re trying to get in during a peak time. Drinks were stupid-a$$pensive($ 12 for a well vodka & soda, $ 8 for a beer) but that’s to be expected at a big club in a big city. What made my jaw drop, though, and made me take off a couple stars, is what they charge for water: $ 8 a bottle! For WATER. That’s… irresponsible. I asked several times at a few of the bars if they could just give me a cup of water(ALWAYS when already buying another drink — I’m not a cheap-ass), and they never would.) [SOAPBOXALERT]: not having access to free or affordable water is one of the major ways that people in the dance music community get sick and hurt. Dehydration, especially combined with alcohol and drug use, can cost lives. I get that running a club is super expensive, but charging $ 8 for an 8-oz bottle of water is just wrong — it’s this kind of greed that’s hurting the dance music community and the people in it. Outrageous cover costs, overpriced watered-down drinks, ludicrous bottle service prices… all understandable and, in club logic, even acceptable. But gouging on water borders on evil. I know this spot is shutting down soon, and I guess they’re going to open a new club called Koi. I hope the water is more affordable there.

I was so surprised that this club still had a big crowd of people at 5:00am, my ex and I danced our asses off for 2 hours.

If $ 5 cover sounds reasonable to listen to blaring EDM-like noise that barely qualifies as music, get hit on by other guys while staring at an empty dance floor, and have transvestites ask you for molly, then you’re sure to have a great time. The rest of us – probably not. But hey, at least the bathrooms are clean and the place is open well after most others have closed for the night.

I never see any people outside anymore and when I finally went in, it was really empty. This place probably be decent if you want to hang out with a group of friends in a club by yourselves.

Just got to Miami for vacation about found out about this afterhours underground techno club, of course I had to check it out. $ 20 cover seemed reasonable. Water was $ 7 which seemed a bit steep(I’m used to paying $ 5) but my boyfriend tipped the bathroom attendant like $ 5 so we could just keep refilling it, no issues. Bathrooms were pretty clean, didn’t have to wait in line. It wasn’t super busy though. It also wasn’t a sweatbox which was nice. I enjoyed just being able to dance in the middle of the dancefloor and enjoy the tech. Awesome music. Heard Matt Martinez(he was amazing!) and Sebastian H(didn’t hear him for quite as long but he was also really good). Security was also really nice. Actually all of the people working there were super nice. Good vibes too, no one was rude, no one started fights, etc. People were so chill! Yes, this place has some sketchy people but it is a typical techno afterhours. To those who know, you just step in and it feels like home :) Would recommend IF you enjoy the laid back chill clubs and GOOD techno music.

For my first night in Miami, and as an Ultra after-party, I went with some people to Mekka. This would make Mekka my first Miami club experience(Ultra doesn’t count, because thats more an event). I went for FSOB, and was fortunate enough to see Crizzly, Flux, and some Crystal Method. Love their stuff, so that was nice, but the actual facilities could have been a bit better/cleaner/less ratchet/less smelly hippy. Now I have nothing against hippies, but when there are more than five gather in a tight group, they emit a fragrance that I’m unfortunately not used to. I never felt so Republican in all my life. Multiple rooms, for multiple sounds, which is cool. There’s a small what I would call lobby where you can buy shirts, etc. The sound system was fair. Rocked me enough, the visualizations/projections were meh. I loved the lasers. The bar looked like it was fairly stocked, but I wasn’t really drinking(nahmeaaaaann). If you associate with a particular crowd that looooves chemicals/molecules, etc… you should have no problem finding it here, as I repeatedly bumped into multiple transactions(sorry hippy selling what looked like special k!) Our cover was $ 80, but it was for something that went from 11:00 to like 8 am, and it was for access to over thirty artists… imho? a good deal if youre looking to stay there the whole night… Philadelphia, learn something from Miami and do stuff like this…

Idk what to say. Feels a bit odd leaving a review for the kind of place I don’t like… maybe I should leave a tip instead… but it would be too long of a tip so… here it goes: STAY away… I don’t want to give an anti-drug msg here… but you know you need to go to narcotics anonymous when you somehow end up there. Same for space… end of the line buddy. Sorry I wish I was wrong… and I wish I didn’t even know these two places existed but HEY, if that’s your thing… if you are a early 20something weekend warrior/junky not scared of coming out of the club completely in LA-LA land making friends with homeless ppl and face eating wackos that hang around downtown Miami 24⁄7 … If that’s you scene then go for it :)

Sunday night…4:30am and we are leaving Nikki Beach and on to the next adventure. We met some folks who were heading to Mekka and we hitched a ride with them. The club was kind of foggy or maybe that was just me… ha ha. We had some drinks, no idea how much, I didn’t pay, BUT! my friends sent me to the bathroom for cigarettes and holy crud…$ 15 a pack. If I thought I could have operated the cigarette machine(which I didn’t even know existed anymore) I could have got them for $ 10. Anyway, the bathroom was ok but the attendant was a tad scary, but wouldn’t you be if you spent all night in a club bathroom dealing with totally f’d up people. The music was ok, not tons of people, but it was a pretty decent crowd for just opening I guess. We stayed maybe an hour maybe more, not sure. It was an experience regardless.

Haven’t been inside but I have to give security 5 stars. 2 nights ago my girlfriend lost a phone in the club. One of the security guards find the phone on floor and promptly turned it in to the management office. Hats off to the security guard Louis.

After finding out at 9am that the cover was $ 80 at Space, we were looking for a budget party since were coming off an epic show from Ferry vs Markus at Mansion and we might only have an hour or two of rage left in us. We walked by the parking lot of Mekka and saw a ton of Orange Mekka wristbands on the floor. I randomly decided to pick up one up and used the sticky side to keep it together. All of my friends did the same, infact one of them had a generic Orange wristband which had no logo what so ever. So we walk up to the dark entrance which wasn’t even a door, it was just a ripped black sheet they used as a curtain. The security points us in the direction to get our wristbands checked. The guy glances at it and just tells us all to walk in. Boom we just saved cover. So the dance floor is dark, almost like a crypt. I noticed they pump fog on there to make it even darker so you would have trouble seeing the girl’s faces. There were about 12 girls and 3 – 4 guys to the sides like sharks trying to swoop up on them. I couldn’t see the girl’s faces to confirm that they weren’t trannies, but they were all wearing tight pants so atleast I can be sure they are post-op. The bar serves drinks in small plastic cups. Like the ones you use as a rinse cup at Motel 6. The first one I bought I set it on a box. When the bass dropped the cup flew off and I lost a full drink. Turns out that box where people pass out on was a subwoofer. There was a couch which apparently is the«gay zone». There were 6 guys sitting very close to each other. I walked by and one of the random ones there offered me a cigarette to start a conversation. «No thank you.» Mike B said from last year that he never found the bathroom. So I put myself on this quest to find this secret bathroom. There are 6 doors labeled as ‘Exits’ in this club. 1 is the first entrance you walked in which you will lose clearly since the lay out is like a haunted Halloween maze. Then there are 4 more which apparently they use some ply wood to jam it so you won’t be able to open it. Then there was this last entrance next to back bar where I see a security guy in a red Mekka shirt passed out on the chair. This door leads to the bathroom. So I walk into the guys bathroom, and the first thing I see is an attendant sitting on a chair, but his head is actually in one of the sink and hes passed out sleeping or throwing up, who knows. I guess I won’t be getting my hands dry if I decide to wash my hands. Then one of the stall doors open, and 5 guys rush in. They spend a good 10 minutes in there sniffing around, so I finally gave up and decided to pour my flask out in the open next to the urinals. I got my drink made and walked out of there. Weirdest bathroom experience ever. The night continued with countless randoms coming in. Some getting scared immediately and leaving, others staying there to continue their rage well into the afternoon of the next day. I spent a total of 2 hours there just watching the DJ drop some epic minimal techno and tech house tracks. Then I look back at the crowd and their reaction never changes. Just standing around like zombies and doing the same moves over and over again. I finally decided to call it a night. or day at about 11:30. I ended up taking the bus across the block because cabs don’t stop infront of Mekka. All in all it was a surreal experience, and I see myself coming back here again next WMC.

Welp came here with my girls b/c we had to find an 18+ club to accommodate my friend who isn’t 21 yet. This place really doesn’t deserve a drawn-out review so I’ll simply list the pros and cons. Pros: –Great music mix –Good AC –Drinks are good –Nice layout inside –Ladies in Free Cons: –Patrons are overall lame –Parking is 10 dollars –Sketch neighborhood –Panhandlers in your face as you try to park –Staff can be rude –Atmosphere can feel a little high school –Guy to girl ratio is horrible, like 40 girls to 20 guys, and half of the guys are there with their girlfriends –_– Yeahhhhh so if you can’t get into a better club and you’re under 21, then I’d say you’d probably have a decent time. Otherwise, avoid at all costs. I won’t be returning.

When this place first opened up it was great. The music was always good and the only bad thing about it was the long lines. What i also used to love about this place what that is was never jam packed. I could actually walk around and dance without worrying about someones cigarette burning me! They also had a main room, a hip hop room and a spanish room. Now a days, i dont know why anyone wold bother coming here! its full of 16 year old’s using some fake id’s and its just not the place to be anymore. Sorry mekka, your time is done.

The staff was not all that friendly but i guess thats miami sometimes. The pictures that are uploaded on Unilocal of the club were defenitely done by a professional. It looked totally different on your typical saturday night. I am in no rush to return to be brutally honest– i know i know. I heard there wwas to be 3 rooms with different genres of music going on but ended up only going into one. From what i saw, there was only 2 rooms available, the mixed-genre one and on the other side of the building there was an entrance for the gay part of the club. 2 shots and 2 rum n coke = 44 bucks. Do that 3 times. lol Id say that the drinks were a bit overpriced.

18+ club. I hate to admit this, but this is the first 18+ club I ever been to. We saw there was a super long line outside, and we just went up to the bouncer and asked if we can go in. As we walked passed the line to talk to the bounder, we realized these«kids» look pretty young, so by the time we were at the front, we decided to go in since we didn’t have to wait in line. The music was great, but it makes me think there were so shady ppl in there trying to looking for ‘fresh meat.” *gross* Overall, the night was great! We hit up 3 clubs in one night!

So I’m British(well actually more of a cultural hybrid but I’ll spare you my familial spiel). This means that in major British cities we don’t have places ‘downtown’, yes we have the ‘West End’ or ‘Down South’ but ‘downtown’, you can forget it! So it’s always with a cheeky grin that I holler at the taxi man, ‘take me downtown’ and so it was this very night. Rocking up to Mekka, I absolutely loved the venue. Great expanses of white, throbbing crowds and a leftfield piece of amateur dramatics onstage involving two bionic women with power tools. Think a futuristic Benny Benassi shoot. Turbo charged. However, it was the mesmeric, generous hospitality of my two Californian compadres which made my night complete. We were sectioned off in the VIP area adjacent to the stage, as a increasingly drunken waitress filled us up with a full bottle of vodka plus gratifying fruit juices that made the liquor flow all the more sweeter… and so it unravelled.
