Hamburger House Party

This was one epic event for burger lovers. I couldn’t try all of the 20+ burgers but I did manage to scarf down 11 patties plus desserts and some drinks. Yes, there were a lot of people, but at no time was there a lack of food or drink. There was plenty to go around and then some. I’m definitely looking forward to next year’s event if Burger Beast decides to do one in 2016.

This event is basically an all you can eat from the best of the best burgers in south florida… I’m already planning to go again next year. If you’re a foodie, THIS EVENT IS A MUST!
There were 21 burgers being offered, some larger than others, but slider size was the average. I made it through maybe about close to 15 before I was forced to stop because I was so full I literally couldn’t fit a bite of anything down. There were so many AMAZING burgers that it was extremely hard to choose which one was best. And by the end you end up so full it’s hard to compare the burgers honestly. Let’s face it when you’re stuffed, food doesn’t taste the same as when you’re ravenous hungry.
Obviously the burgers are the stars of this event, but there is a dessert section.
Night owl cookies were good but the best dessert goes to Liquid N2 Ice Cream. Their Cinnamon toast crunch ice cream and butter pecan ice cream… let’s just say you
HAVE to try these flavors when you get the chance.
Even if you can eat A LOT (like me), be prepared to get full as hell. There’s no need to rush through as many burgers as you can (like I did) in fear that they would run out. My advice is to use the menu they give you at the beginning as a guide to your must have burgers. Enjoy the burgers! No need to inhale them… I recommend this because inhaling is what the route I went lol. The event was 3 hours long and although I didn’t last the entire 3 hours I was very happy with the event. It was properly organized. I’m happy that the participants and organizers didn’t cheap out on ingredients or portions. No one ran out of food (for longer than 10 mins or so).
I’ve been to kitchen hop events where the portions are ridiculously small, crappy and low quality, and towards the end of the event restaurants run out of food. Waste of money. This was certainly not the case with Burger Beast Burger Brawl. It was worth every penny.

I’m all about that Burger, that Burger, no Veggies…
This year the Brawl was held inside the 305 Stage space in the Magic City Casino which afforded the attendees the benefit of Air Conditioning. But, let me tell you, at one point I felt like a freakin’ canned sardine in there! Como habia gente Dios Mio!
I arrived early because I knew there would be pandelirium once the crowds started so I was able to sample 19 out of the 20 participants. Only one wasn’t entirely ready and if you were there early, you know who I mean.
All the burgers were amazing. Amongst my favorites were the returning champions, Latin House and their «a caballo burger», Jr’s Burgers with his guava infused burger, Jersey Dawgs and their simple slider, and Local with that cheesy croquette inside the burger. It was difficult to choose one, but I did. Later on in the evening, I was able to see the different teams’ action backstage (er… outside), and boy were they hustling! I had never seen so many grills going at the same time!
The crowd was amazing and the music even more so. Last I heard there were a thousand people there, all hungry and quite vocal. I skipped the alcohol and stuck to water this time. Yeah, learned my lesson from last year… It was an awesome event and a million gracias to all the participants and Burger Beast!
I do hope we do outside again next year. It may be a little warm, but there’ll be more room to roam. As for me, I know that at some point I ended up talking to a bottle of Alka-​Seltzer after all that food…

Updating my review since this review is now for the 2^nd Burger Brawl (2015). I’m going to guess that a lot more people attending this years event due to increase in word of mouth, which may have resulted in a little bit more chaos, combined with the fact that the event was moved indoors. Good for those who like AC, but overall it felt a little bit claustrophobic and hectic — combined with the fact that the cooking was still done outside and burgers needed to be moved quite a distance inside to the serving station.
That being said — still a FANTASTIC event, and for $ 25 (early bird tickets) this is by far the best event in the area! For $ 25-​$ 35 you get to try 20 burgers, a few other snacks, desserts and drinks! Ok, I didn’t try them all, but I did manage to devour about 13 different options!
Burgers —
I was actually surprised to see my fav, Jr’s Gourmet was the actual winner (usually my taste buds differ from the rest) but that guava and cream cheese flavor combo can work on anything, and yes even a burger! Other honorable mentions — BC, Latin House, GastroPod, ok seriously everything was delicious!
Drinks — I’m on a detox, so I skipped all the alcohol and stuck to water. But I did end up with an awesome Kraken rum shirt!
Snacks — Didn’t try a frita since I’ve learned they aren’t my thing, but it’s nice to see a few other non-​burger options. Pretty sure there were fries as well since I saw some people enjoying them, but I didn’t look too hard for them.
Desserts — Bunnie Cake’s guava cupcake was divine, but seriously that ice cream was AMAZING! I’m not the biggest ice cream person, but I could eat that cinnamon flavor all day! What a treat! The butter pecan was great as well.
So yes, crowded, and by 8:30 it was pretty unbearable, luckily I was FULL and dipped out. But arriving right at 7pm gave me pretty empty access to all the tables and I was able to try all the burgers I wanted without much hassle.
Nice to see all the tables and chairs as well, which I didn’t use, but a definitely step above other food events! Also, and this may sound stupid, but THANK YOU for making sure all the tables had napkins. Burgers are messy and napkins can be a life saver!
So, if it was up to me, I’d move back outside, but again, I’m not 100% sure if this smaller space made me feel more crowded, or if there truly were more people there! Either way, AMAZING event, and trust me I go to a lot of food events. For your money this is hands down the best!

I’m going to be «that guy» and drop the feast two stars. Yes, the burger selection was still very damn good. My favorites were Jr. Burgers «Lady Guava» with a tempura battered burger and guava BBQ sauce, and The Local’s General Lee. Topped with sweet BBQ sauce and an American cheese croquettes blended sweet and meat just how I like it. The feast also featured a great spread of sweets: Velvet Crème donuts, Bunny cakes vegan (delicious irony) cupcakes, and Awaken cold pressed coffee. I also won a bottle of RokBurgers bourbon BBQ sauce.
So why the penalty? Last year’s outdoor event was awesome. There was plenty of space to explore the different vendors, space to walk, no lines and had the feel of a fun and delicious neighborhood block party. Besides having to deal with a line to get into the space, then go around another line and more lines to wait for the burgers there was the wait for burgers to be brought up from the downstairs. Long lines waiting for food brought back memories of the food rationing my parents told me about in Cuba. The indoor space also prevented you from the aroma of grilled meat. The only purpose I could see was exposing you to want to play «Las maquinitas» yeah no. Please take it back outdoors next year!

The past two years I have attended the Burger Battle in Fort Lauderdale, I think it was actually my first food festival ever, but last year, though delicious, it was a little over crowded and I feared this year would only be worse, so I am so glad I opted to do Burger Beast’s Burger Brawl instead. This was probably the most well organized food festival I have ever attended.
Though I pretty much have a panic attack at the thought of driving to Miami, getting to Magic City casino wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected and parking was a breeze. Getting into the event was extremely well organized. Scanning people’s tickets and giving out wrist bands as they arrived and letting them into a gated area before the event started was genius. I can’t tell you how many food festivals I’ve been to where I felt like livestock being herded because they wouldn’t start the ticketing process until the event was supposed to start.
As we entered we were easily able to breeze from booth to booth and try burgers without ever waiting more than a minute or two, and the waiting was not in a line of people, it was simply to get a hot and fresh burger off the grill. Each vendor did a great job, with a special mention to Jersey Dawg as I am loving my hamburger hat. This event just had such a different feel than any other event I had been to. The fact that it wasn’t over crowded allowed the vendors to really interact and ask questions and I am way more likely to remember which burgers came from where and will make an effort to visit the restaurants unlike other events where sometimes there is really no hope of talking to anyone or remembering anything in the crowds.
I really appreciated the extra non burger vendors as well. I gave coconut water another try and I think I actually somewhat liked this Pure Brazilian one. The photo booth was really great too. There wasn’t even a line!
Burger Beast event prices may be slightly higher than other food events that show up on groupon and living social, but to me, not having to fight the crowds and having a table to enjoy my food at is worth every penny. Now could we please have some more info on Croquetapalooza?! I’m dying to know what’s in store!

I fasted for a week and six hours in preparation for Burger Brawl. You are never fully aware of what you’re capable of until you’re surrounded by tents of burger samples.
I felt like Squidward Tentacles in that episode of Spongebob Squarepants where he eats thousands of Krabby Patties and is not sorry.
Latin House, OTC, and Swine were undoubtedly the reigning champions of that night.
Actually, Burger Beast was the reigning champion that night. Thank you for making my dream of a burger buffet come true.

Another Great Event from Burger Beast!
Sample 20 different Burgers with unlimited Samuel Adams Beer, Coconut Water, Soda, and Desserts for $ 50 ($ 40 if you used a code) Can’t Beat It. Hardly any lines for the burgers, drinks, and desserts. Live Music and DJ provided and plenty of parking. Also certain places were giving Freebies! Very Kewl! I had a great time and was in a Burger Coma. Looking forward for the next Burger Beast Event.

An amazing event from start to finish. This was probably some of the best money I have ever spent. Everything was so well organized and ran so smoothly.
I loved that the tents were set up in alphabetical order and that they gave a print out with the menu and a pen to take notes. As soon as I walked in I started hitting up the burgers that seemed most appealing. Lines throughout the event were never longer than a 3min wait (and that was usually for beer). I am proud to say I tried about 15 of the burgers and they were all pretty delicious, not once did I even have to use any of the condiments provided. My top 3 favorites though were Eating House carbonara burger, Vegas burger bar «(theirs was kind of spicy) and tucker dukes. Sokaya kitchen had some pretty good tots, BUT since they were in a box they got soggy, so I didn’t waste my stomach space on that.
The beer selection was nice, and I did work up quite a buzz even though I was stuffing my face.
Desert from Azucar was BOMB, so good in fact I had to go to the ice cream shop the following day to get some more.
My only criticism would be that the trash cans were kind of hard to find, I would make the walk to throw my stuff away (but I noticed a lot of people just leaving their trash on tables — which is really annoying BTW, clean up after yourselves people) Luckily workers were coming around to clean it up.
I had a great time and will definitely be attending any future events Burger Beast puts together.

This would be my first burger event ever. Therefore you can imagine I was very excited, I felt like a little kid inside a candy store. Everyone has that burger joint in town they love going to for their favorite burger, now imagine having all those go to spots in one location and each one creating something that’s just simply mouthwatering for your pallet! For the price you couldn’t beat this event. Although «Latin House» won the competition, each restaurant deserves an enormous amount of credit, I saw people hard at work slaying over a hot grill making sure they had samples for everyone.
In addition, Ice sparkling water, Coconut water and Samuel Adams were providing refreshments for everyone to wash down all those stuffing there face. Let me tell you I have always been a fan of coconut water and ICE but I had never tried Summer Time Ale, it was very refreshing and I am sure they were like «this guy again».
You also had a healthy dose of food trucks Sakaya and El Rey de las Fritas along with Marlie Delights which had these delicious Caramelized Bacon sweets that made my tongue cringe with excitement. Azucar was also there providing homemade cuban ice cream, I mean seriously it’s a fat kids heaven, and all for $ 40 bucks!!! Can’t be beat.
Burger & Beer Joint, Swine, Latin House and Charm City were among my favorite, I can understand why Latin House won, that green topping sauce was exactly as described. Very sweet at the beginning then a kick at the very end that put all the flavors together and made for a amazing burger.
If I were to find a flaw it would be I believe there should have been water stations as well along with the free vendors, and the live band could have been a little better, maybe more benches or chairs but all in all I had a great time and can’t wait to go again for another event. Solid 4.5!
