File under«Coral Gables’ best lunchtime secret.» Working in the City Beautiful’s central business district, it’s very difficult to find tasty lunch options that are even semi-affordable. After walking by Gyros & Salads for the longest time, I finally stopped in one afternoon. I couldn’t help but be impressed. The store itself is as no frills as it gets… it’s nothing but a sandwich assembly line counter, with shawarma. Options are limited to pitas and platters, that’s it. Prices have recently been raised slightly, but at $ 7.99 for a pita overflowing with tasty, succulent thinly sliced meat, that’s still not terrible, especially for the annoyingly pricy Gables. Pro tip — it isn’t mentioned as an option, but get your pita spread with baba ghanoush instead of hummus or yogurt. The hummus is decent, but the savory, smoky baba ghanoush is better. Also, if you hate mayonnaise like I do, forgo the creamy garlic sauce they will ask if you want. To me, it tastes way too mayo-like — that’s my only criticism of this place. Otherwise, better than the Daily Bread for me, and it’s not close.

It has been awhile since I’ve had Mediterranean food, so when I saw the light up window sign featuring gyros I knew I had to stop here. Upon stepping in you are immediately presented with the order counter, with an overhanging tv that alternates between two screens showing you what is on the menu. Seating was limited unless you didn’t mind making some new friends, but unless you plan on bringing a large party you shouldn’t have a problem finding a table except maybe at peak hours. I ordered the falafel gyro loaded up with all of the goodies — black olives, onion, lettuce, tomato, garlic sauce, and lamb. It took a few minutes for my order to be ready, but this place was bustling and quite busy for what appeared to be a small-time gyro restaurant. When my food was ready I was presented with a sizeable gyro that looked like the perfect portion for me, taking into consideration how much food I like to eat. The ingredients were fresh, the meat and pita warm and the vegetables cool, and the gyro tasted much more appealing than others I’ve had in the past. Due to its size though, the sauce and meat started to fall out and make a mess no matter how I went about eating it, requiring several napkins to clean up. All in all that was my only gripe. Besides that it was a very good gyro, considering the low price given its location. If you love Mediterranean food and are craving a good gyro, I would recommend you stop by this place and give it a try!

I don’t give this restaurant 5 stars because as soon as you enter, the smell stick to your clothes! Other than that is great! Food is amazing! Service is good too!

The food was great(beef gyro) but my order get cold, the french fries soft, and I get lemonade instead of sprite. And also the delivery took more than one hour! NOTE: I ordered through

Ordered delivery today and received the food 1 hr later. Normally, I would rant and rave about what a terrible experience this was but the food was really good. The driver was apologetic and returned promptly wth a fresh batch of fries at no charge(within 5 minutes). We will definitely order again.

I placed a Delivery order from Eat24 to this place(first time ordering from here), since I was craving a good Greek chicken gyro… Oh boy was I in for a treat! I started with a small cup of lentil soup(very good size, at least 12 – 14 oz), it was definitely home made and delicious. Then I had my chicken gyro… I was in heaven! Well seasoned thick slices of chicken breast, sauce and crispy salad. They were fast, food came warm and so affordable! Cant wait to order from here again and tell my family and friends… Highly recommend!

Really good Greek gyro. I didn’t get the combo because the gyro was more than enough. It was delicious. I was really happy. However I was not impressed with the baklava.

I am writing my first review because of how upset I am with this place. I ordered the chicken gyro combo with salad and rice pilaf. I am giving it two stars because the food would have been good, if it was not swimming in sauce/dressing. The most upsetting part is that I ordered for delivery and told the lady on the phone that it was SUPER important the sauces were to be on the side. I repeated myself about 3 times. Of course food gets here 50 mins later with the sauce on the side but also on my salad and gyro. I will not be ordering from here again.

I just found this wonderful little place this week and I have already been twice for a falafel. Everything is delicious! The falafel is made fresh, the bread is soft and thick! The tahini, hummus and baba ghanoush make it perfect! I’m sure the lines get very long closer to noon but I go just after they open so I have no wait. My only complaint is they close at 5:30 and are not open on weekends. Everything is priced very well … falafel is $ 4.99!

The absolute worse service I’ve ever experienced. I ordered lunch at 11AM and called to confirm the order at 11:30AM. I spoke to the lady who is supposedly the chef and she said that as we were speaking my order was going out. I called again to follow up on my order at 12:10PM and the same woman told me that I should have received it and that she would call the driver to follow up. I waited 15 minutes and called her back again as I hadn’t received a call back nor my food. She then told me that I can call the driver because he was lost she gave me three different phone numbers for the driver none of which was the drivers phone numbers. Then at 12:40PM the driver called me telling me he was lost. I have called back the restaurant several times and the lady picks up the phone and hangs up on me. I will never order from here again

Sad that the only gyro fast casual spot in the downtown gables is serving low grade meat and Tzaziki that gives you hot burps for the rest of the day. Sad that we don’t have a daily bread or Maria’s kitchen in the Gables. Mylos is good but too far north and not a fast casual spot. Not sure what the rest of the visitors consider Greek food. Miami Subs has a better gyro.

Gyros and salads serves up a generous portion for their combo meals. I had the gyro combo. Comes with fries or salad and a fountain drink for around $ 9 bucks. In the gables that’s pretty good. I pick the gyro with lamb and it fill me up. There’s usually a line(which mean the place is popular and good), but don’t worry they have the line preparation down to a science and they move pretty quick. Check out the pic, so you can see.

First question I asked was if there is lunch special. lucky me… there is! And good that I didn’t pay any attention to those negative comments, because once I took my first bite of my beef gyro… booom! Delicious!!! Service was great! She took her time to explain each sauce. Thank you darling!

The food took an hour and a half to get to me. The lady said they were baking the spanakopita but apparently they had to harvest the spinach– The food cannot just be good– service is sometimes even more important. Specially in the miracle mile. Will not go there again.

I LOVE gyros and i love to watch people cook for me. That being said, Gyros & Salads is right up my alley. I ordered the chicken gyro with baba ganoush… One bite of my gyro had me saying, «Opa!» loll The 4 stars is because I visited the restroom to wash my hands before my meal and the restroom was absolutely atrocious. Clean it up, PLEASE.

The food here is delicious! The chicken is really flavorful, the hummus and rice are delicious. 3 stars because they arent open for dinner or on the weekends. Also, the service could use a little work. Regardless I will be back. PS, please open for dinner(and serve some wine).
