Went for fathers day, knew it was on the pricey side. Got terrible service, empty/low hot Buffett. We ordered a fin martini and they used the wrong gin, strong mojito/strong margaritas(sour). The steak was good but the gouchos didn’t look when we had flipped the card over and kept bringing steaks to us when we didn’t want any.

This place lost my business. Standing there at the entrance for over 10 minutes without so much as an acknowledgement. I went to nearby Balans and they seated me right away. Where were the host/hostesses??? [FYI, this was from July of 2011 for reference]

I headed to Grimpa last night ecstatic to eat all the meat I could handle, and instead I found a CLOSED restaurant, with a sign«Grimpa Steakhouse has closed». I just got an email from them recently with a BOGO offer — I guess it was their last ditch effort. Their phone was working yesterday, but is disconnected today. :( If been here a dozen times before, and loved it every time. If you want equally great rodizio in Miami I recommend Fogo de Chao on Miami Beach.

I prefer this Brazilian Steakhouse over other Churrascaria Rodizio style restaurants I have experienced both in the area and outside of Florida. Everything from the perfectly sliced cuts of prime meat and wine selection to the excellent table service makes this restaurant ideal for a special occasion. In the past year, I have been here twice for special occasions and really enjoyed both experiences. Although the amount of food can be overwhelming, I enjoy tasting small slices of most of the sliced meats that make their way around to our table! My favorite cuts of meat here are the flank steak, prime sirloin and top sirloin. The salad bar is stocked with plenty of salad, pasta and a wide variety of cheese and other small sides to choose from. I also love the breaded banana and cheese bread they serve to you once you are seated. If possible, make sure you save room for dessert, as they have a nice menu here. I can recommend both the Brazilian Coconut Flan and the Passion Fruit Mousse. I truly feel spoiled when I dine here. Look forward to returning for another fabulous meal!

Very good experience here. I tend to avoid places like this because there is the tempation to overeat with the salad buffet and the unlimited meat(Churrascaria Rodizio style); however, if you pace yourself, you’ll be just fine. Everything was delicious. From the sides on the table, to the cheese bread(delicious) to the salad bar(extremely fresh), to the accompanying sides(they are behind the salad bar(soups too) and finally to the meats. All were very delicious. Don’t forget the chimmichurri sauce for the meats(its at the salad bar) Service was good, although the waiter’s English was barely comprehendable. Don’t forget to save room for dessert… they are delicious. Definitely will be back.

I am going to have to go ahead and claim that this is the best Brazilian Churrascaria Rodizio style in Miami and possibly outside of Brazil. Having been to several in Rio, Sao Paulo and Salvador I can attest that Grimpa is the real deal. They might not have the same raw ingredients to work with(read meat), but what they do have is excellent. The salad bar is very good as well — this is a high end salad bar, not a bunch of wilted greens in a few bowls. Of course they are trying to encourage you to eat as much of the salad bar as possible so as to not have to serve you as much Picanha, but that’s up to you to figure out. Slighty more exepnsive than some of the others, but well worth it. Oh, and they a fantastic wine list, if you should choose to splurge.

They keep changing the happy hour menu that i love so much — and changing things like the pao de quiejo recipe and the size of the picana. for some reason everything just tastes heavier than usual in the last few months. still the best for caipirihnas though. :)

Karen C. hit the nail on the head. The side items and salad bar are not only limited but also low quality. I can’t speak on the meats. Salad bar costs $ 30 compared to $ 25 at Fogo de Chao or Texas de Brazil. Both of the latter have three times the selection and ten times better quality. Healthful options are few and far in between. So guys! Take your investment banker buddies here but not your date. For starters, they bring white bread, fried yucca and some sort of fried meat balls. Both extra greasy, throwing those on a paper towel so soak up some of that oil wouldn’t hurt. There are several warm side items: Tilapia in tomato sauce was tasty and only lightly breaded. Creamed spinach, creamy mashed potatoes and cheese ravioli in a creamy pink sauce, all tasty but stop it with the cream for god’s sake! Only one sauteed vegetable dish, plain white rice and two soups. Salad bar is very limited for the price: Lettuce, broccoli, beets, asparagus, hearts of palm, artichokes and the healthful selections stop right there. Salad dressings were all cream based(Ranch, Thousand Island, Blue Cheese…), not a single low-fat version or vinaigrette. I am also willing to bet they came from a bottle and were not homemade. There were lots of mayonnaise laden salads, such as Waldorf, imitation crab and tortellini. Again with the creamy s**t. The calamari salad was rubbery. The tabbouleh was bland. How about some smoked salmon or some freakin’ mushrooms? At our table, we received one side dish of fried plantains in sweet syrup, that’s it! WEAK compared to other places. Our waiter was terrible, we had to literally stop other waiters to ask for more bread and he never came to replenish anything or ask us if we needed anything else. When we asked to see the dessert tray, he left us waiting for 15 minutes. During that time, he walked past the dessert tray a minimum of 5 times and never came back with it. We finally lost our sweet tooth and just waived him over for the check. The verdict: High prices, poor service. Limited selection. Need more veggies and seafood!!!

Oh your craving steak? Well by the time you leave Grimpa you’ll want to move to India where there’s not a dead cow in sight. If these poor animals go extinct and we cant eat milk with our cereal, blame the Brazilians. Churrascaria’s are a great experience, especially if you’ve never been to one, and Grimpa does it very well and comparable to Texas de Brazil. There are few things better in life than when you’re craving steak and then you start seeing the servers march around with slab after slab of juicy meat, it’s a feast for the eyes. The meat is constantly being offered at your table, Pele himself couldn’t get better service, even if you ask for the whole cut of meat rather than a slice, it’s yours. As you start annihilating everything in sight you’ll probably realize it’s quantity over quality but those first few minutes before your’e full it’s heaven on earth. Veteran Churrascaria go’ers know the deal, the meats are salty and the best cuts are few and far between, but most importantly the key is to hold out for what you want and not fill yourself with side dishes and drinks. It’s tough to not cave in because those side dishes and salad bar are pretty damn good, but better at Texas de Brazil. Gameplanning and stomach prepping for days in advance is recommended, and by the end of the feast you’ll be so damn stuffed an enema will be your best friend. The desserts here have taken a turn for the worse. Grimpa’s coconut flan used to be a top 10 dessert but fell off faster and harder than Ronaldinho, ordering this was one of the biggest dissapointments of 2012. The Brickell area is beautiful, but for even better ambiance and location the South Beach Texas de Brazil is a great choice. So it comes down to whether you want to spend 40 bucks & have more beef than Biggie and Tupac or go to a top notch steakhouse and get 1 superior cut of meat, I’d rather do the latter but when the time comes to show these cows who’s boss Grimpa is good choice.

I visited on a monday night, so it was expected to be empty, but the waiters were all very nice, the meat varieties were very delicious. The salad bar was awesome, as well as the Lime Caipirinha that I ordered. as for dessert, from the large selection, i chose the papaya mousse and it was very light and tasty. It is very pricey, but this is the norm for this style of dining. I recommend who likes all you can eat CHURRASCARIA!

We checked this place out on a Saturday night around 9PM. The venue is pretty nice but I was surprised to see that it was not very packed at all. After some drinks at the bar we were promptly seated. Drinks are typical Miami prices here about $ 10 each. As a Rodizio style restaurant veteran I knew not to fill up on the salad bar items. The salad bar looked pretty good though, although I would say that there is more selection at both Fogo de Chao and Texas de Brazil. I couldn’t wait for the meats to come and they were definitely pretty good. I would say the pichanha and churrasco were the best. The service was OK, we had to ask for chimmichurri several times before it came. Considering it was not very full that was kind of slack. I would say that Grimpa is pretty good however, Fogo and Texas are both better in terms of meat and salad bar. Grimpa has a nicer interior though and a little fancier ambiance. It’s definitely worth a visit, especially if you can get a $ 25 offer.

So finding Grimpa was a bit of a headache as the exact address listed is also the address on the opposite corner for PF Chang… But don’t get discouraged because this steakhouse was worth the multiple circles around the block — Absolutely Delicious! Let’s start with the gorgeous salad bar… everything looked fresh, seasonal, and it all tasted incredible. The odd duck on the salad bar was the sushi… why? It seems that everyone is adding sushi to their menus these days but, in my opinion, it is best left to the professionals who specialize in sushi… Not the Brazilian steakhouse.(Soapbox now tucked away.) Back at your table; the server will offer you hot side dishes… fried polenta, crispy bananas, and French fries. Having a hard time choosing, get them all as they are all included with the price. If you don’t want to appear gluttonous, make sure to get the fried polenta and the crispy bananas — they are both excellent. The bread basket will appear as well but nothing here is so wonderful as to take up space in your belly for the variable meat parade that is about to start. Cue the trumpets! Spit roasted filet, sirloin, flank, pork loin, chicken, lamb chops, leg of lamb, chorizo, and more beef whose names stop being relevant as the meat coma starts to take you under. Fight it… and fight it hard because you do not want to miss the best and cutest presentation of espresso with anisette cookie I’ve seen in all of Miami. The dessert selection isn’t too impressive… pretty generic really. I was glad I had used all of my belly real estate for the salad and meat once presented with the dessert selections. The service was attentive and friendly… Warm and friendly smiles are always nice as they carve more and more meat for you to eat. Always. Definitely coming back to Grimpa!

If you’re vegetarian, have fun at the salad bar, but for my meat lovers this is a parade of meat! All you can eat meat served at your table. The servers travel around with skweres of meat and offer you so many kinds: pork, lamb, chicken, different cuts of beef, little sausages, and the list goes on. Bring your appetite and enjoy a Caipirinha while you’re there!

Ate here on a Saturday evening, around 7. Had a groupon so thought we would give it a try. Service was good. Wine selection is a little overwhelming(all bottles but can order house wine by the glass). We chose the churiscaria and buffet for the two of us. The salad bar selection is substantial(about 2⁄3 of what Texas de Brazil offers) but a little lacking in variety. Its situated in an awkward area with«wet floor» signs right in the way of walking(i know this because i tripped over one while trying to maneuver around some people). Also, signage on the items is poorly lacking — i want to know what something is before i eat it. The meat was VERY tasty — the sausages were a little dry and a little too spicy for me. Our glasses were kept full and the ambiance is quiet — until the piano guy comes on — need to turn him down a little — jazzy version of 80s songs are not dinner music LOL and he is just loud enough that i had to ask the hubs to repeat himself on numerous occasions. Desert and coffee — a little bit over priced — lava cake and a cup of coffee was $ 20 — EACH! i about had a coronary(and no it was not due to the half a cow i had just eaten ;)). The«lava cake» was filled with cold chocolate syrup(tasted like Hershey’s syrup) and the coffee was no better than what the hubs brews in the morning. So maybe skip desert — head over to one of the yummy cupcakeries within mary brickell for a far better fare and pricing. Overall — would i dine again? Probably. Will i go out of my way to dine here again? Probably not — not with all the Brazilian Steakhouses in Miami.

I have gone to Grimpa several time, for lunch and for dinner. At times I have used a gift certificate, gone with coworkers, take my mom out for a special mother/daughter dinner, or just gone for happy hour after work. Each and every time I have gone, I have never been disappointed. When friends and family come to town this is the place I always tell them that they have to try while they are here. The meats are always tender, the salad bar is always fresh, cold, clean, and appealing, and the service is the best that I have experienced in a Miami restaurant in the two years that I have been here. I’m a fan and I will be going back real soon.

This was my first time experiencing a Brazilian steakhouse and I must say I was very pleased. Location is in the heart of Brickell, easy access walking or by car. I had a 50% off groupon so the price was more attractive. The regular price is around 48 $ + tax and gratuities for the rodizio style meal. Waiters pass by with huge skewers of different kind of meat: lamb, sirloin, skirt steak, chicken, pork,… They have a station of unlimited sides which could be improved in my opinion. Salads, cold pasta, ravioli, beef carpaccio, mashed potatoes,… The meat was great but the sides so so. Still a great experience. I will go back!

I’ve been here three times already for lunch — and I must say they have good stuff here. $ 12.95 lunch specials. That can be a full salad bar(which includes a few hot items and soups) and this is a popular option among patrons(because they’re tasty, if you can’t get the hint here!). And the good news is that they’re also well-made using good ingredients/produce. No limpy, wimpy stuff here! It can also be one of the a la carte item in the lunch menu — like the prime sirlion(picanha) which I’m addicted to. :) And with two sides(which could be a nice salad, or even a tasty vegetable soup — yes, really), it’s usually leave me with a full tummy. On top of that, service is friendly, both on and off the bar. Grimpa, I’ll be back!
