I have reluctantly given Esther’s another shot time and time again, hoping their service will be better. I waited to write a review, in fairness, until they got it right. Esther’s delivers to my workplace weekly, if not daily. That’s why I was confused when it took WELLOVERANHOUR for my food to arrive one day. This wasn’t the only time it had happened, but prior incidences were redeemed by free food or dessert. I got no apology and vowed to never give Esther’s my business again. Fast forward several months and my lunch buddy comes in with a monstrous steak sandwich and french fries that she brags about being $ 7. I went with her the following week to order at the window and lo and behold, after asking if they had enough bread(huh?) we were told they only had one steak. My persistent self did not settle and decided on a game plan of ordering an hour before pick up to allow time to retrieve said bread and steak for 3 sandwiches. The plan worked and we picked up our sandwiches with no problem at all. The service at the window is pleasant. The steak sandwich is AMAZING and we get it ordered ‘raquel style’ named after a coworker. The steak is dipped in hot sauce, topped with cheese, grilled onions, tomatoes, lettuce and shoe string potatoes. Served with a side of fries, it is a steal at $ 7. I easily split the meal but it’s so delicious I don’t think I’ll be doing that again! I’ve also heard they serve a pretty mean breakfast. Open early morning till late afternoon. Cash, credit, delivery, take away or dine in.

This is soul food. Tastes really good but really unhealthy. I had the lunch special ¼ chicken w/plantains and collard greens for about $ 6. The chicken was moist, tender, and flavorful. There are no fancy garnishes or spices here, just simple salt and pepper. I’m tired of thyme or rosemary in chicken dishes and Esther’s chicken reminded me what chicken tastes like. It’s all about the chicken here. The plantains were soft, sweet, and a delight to eat. However the collard greens were too buttery and salty for my taste but still good. Note: they’re open from 6am-3:30pm
