A fun, though brief and pricey, way to expand your tot’s musical horizons. On the surface, the activities may seem like no-brainers: banging on things, singing songs and making noise in general(throw in a few swear words, and you got punk rock!). But, as with so much with kids, there needs to be a method to the madness and our experience at UM MusicTime was indeed effective. Most of this, of course, can be traced to the teacher and ‘Miss Rosa’ was a pleasure to watch, as she truly enjoyed entertaining her kids and they seemed equally happy(some people have that gift). However, the fees are extremely high and each class is only 30 minutes long. Given the sparse attendance, the program needs to reconsider its pricing, as I am sure that will bring in more people. The program also includes a CD(a different one per age group) and the two we have are excellent — a great mix of children’s songs and classical compositions. Classes are held at different locations(and various days and times) around the county, like Coral Gables, South Miami, Palmetto Bay, and Doral; check the website for details.
