This boutique hotel is in a great location, steps away from Ocean Drive and the beach. Rooms are quaint but clean with a small refridgerator and microwave. The staff is friendly and a variety of tours and excursions can be booked here. I assumed it would be a noisy experience but was so surprised to sleep soundly without any ruckus outside from Collins Ave. There’s also complimentary continental breakfast. I only deducted a star because after a certain time in the evening, the hotel staff at the front desk is unavailable and you have to enter the hotel from the side entrance. Huh?

In my opinion, the hotel you’re staying in over a vacation has a major influence on the quality of the trip you’re on. My friends and I came to Miami for the weekend for the first time, and Viscay was the best possible sleeper pick for a hotel that I could have imagined. It was immaculate, the staff was so friendly and helpful, and it’s placed in the best location, a stone’s throw from south beach. Viscay was a great compliment to a borderline perfect weekend. Thanks guys

Positives: Great location. Helpful maids. Friendly hotel staff. Negatives: Front desk staff unavailable after 8 p.m. until 8 a.m. – everyone goes home, but they leave a phone number, just in case. Air conditioning filter was rotted, spewing debris on the floor. «Continental breakfast» misnamed. Don’t waste your time, go to the french bakery around the corner and enjoy yourself. This hotel is dated and shopworn, but my biggest beef is that there are no chairs available on the verandah in front for the guests. It would be nice to sit out front and watch the world go by, but no such luck.

WORSTHOTELEVERSTAYEDAT! The staff including manager/owner were extremely rude the entire stay. I can not think of a single positive thing to say about this hotel. DONOT even think about having a guest over to say hello, they will end up charging you an extra $ 100 saying you had a guest over. The room itself was run down and looked like a poorly kept apartment building turned into hotel. Even though it was cheaper than most hotels, ended up paying more in the long run. Do yourself a favor and avoid this property at all costs. There are so many better hotels all around South Beach with amazing friendly people. Very upset that these people were the first faces I encountered my first time in Miami. The staff would even follow you up to your room to see where you go and take a count of how many people were in there. We had one guest come over to say hi and they wouldn’t even let him in the door. Save yourself the headache and bad experience, book elsewhere!

Having headed into town for a bachelor party sans a place to sleep, I hopped on my favorite travel site, located the cheapest place with availability, a decent location, and at least three stars… Viscay is where I ended up. The place on the whole seems like it was last updated around 35 years ago. If you are hoping to impress that young lady you landed at the club with your room, you will not do it here. Then again, if that’s your hope you’ve been too consumed by South Beach and/or you’re doing it wrong. The room feels very much like an aged dorm. If you’ve been lucky enough to have landed a vintage woman for the evening, this may be a welcome attribute as it’ll undoubtedly take her back to those glory days. My favorite element of the room is the bathroom, which is to die for… If and only if you’re a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. I kid you not, all black and yellow. A true sight to behold(I’ve posted a photo). Overall, I got what I paid for. It was half the price of anything on Ocean, a 30 second jaunt from one of the hottest spots in the area, The Clevelander, the staff was friendly, it was clean, a little noisy and very tacky and outdated, but it came through where it really counted… A comfortable bed in which to sleep the daylight away.

If you are looking for easy access to South Beach then this is the place. This was a last minute choice. The Hotel has a European feel to it. It is very old Art Deco style. The 2 room suites are simple but clean with refrigerator, microwave, separate kitchen area and pull out sofa bed. The access to South Beach Clubs is excellent. The access to a near by parking garage is great too. They will give you a discount if you are a guest at the hotel. The price is good as well considering where you are… The only downsides are no pool, no gym, no outside Tikki bar, no access to the beach and very noisy. The public beach near Lummus Park has alot to be desired i. e bums, and bad smells. However, access and closeness to the Police Station cancels any of those concerns.
