Yes, it’s true. I have eccentric tastes and interests. Take for example, Versailles Hotel Condominium. A venue that needs millions of dollars to bring it up to anything close to The National, Delano or Raleigh — and even then it won’t have the right location creds. I don’t care. I love history.
This fading doyenne of the beach is a wonderful Deco standout. She stares at the water proudly in spite of her wrinkles, the bad face lifts from the 70’s, the divorces from suitors who threw her away, only to find her charms too late for her to accept them back. She once hosted Sinatra and Hayworth, Arbuckle, Chaplin and Crawford, and she’s still beautiful to me.
May I tell you about unit. # 715? It’s fantastic. It’s available via AirBnB site and is an absolute bargain. Bright, clean, self contained, modernized, oceanfront, and about $ 120 a day less than anything on Collins Ave. during high season.
Take the dollar difference and treat yourself to a spa day @ The Standard, lunch @ The Victor or FontaineBleu up the street, a little shopping, some champagne at Plunge (rooftop bar @ Gansevoort).
