I’ve had this place bookmarked for a while, but I rarely get the chance to head down to Miami. The traffic is just not worth it sometimes. Anyhow, I had a long lost cousin that just came from China visiting so I decided to take him to South Beach for the experience. We came in just as they were opening and there was only one party sitting there besides us. The décor was a bit hipster and very refreshing. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple apps. The cocktails were good. I especially liked the cucomfortably numb. We didn’t order any main dishes, just a couple appetizers from the happy hour many. The food was not very memorable, except the Korean wings. Those were on point! Service was very friendly and personable. Overall, it was a good experience and a nice hang out spot.

I love their food! My first and only time I had been there was a great experience. They get very busy, especially on weekends so calling for a reservation would be wise. Totally worth it! Loved my freshly squeezed juice too. Will go back! Great service. Friendly and upbeat staff. :)

I will start my review with saying that today was the last day that Tongue and Cheek was open at the 431 Washington location. However, I do not believe this status alone is excuse for the subpar experience. Upon arrival, we noticed a sign on the door that said cash only today. Nothing was said to us about that status by our waitress however we did proceed with that in mind. There were five of us ladies planning to culminate a bachelorette weekend with a brunch that came highly recommended. Immediately after we were seated a man came and asked us if we wanted waters. I said I don’t need one. A few moments later he returned trying to balance 5 water glasses. As he was trying to sit them on the table he bumps into the table and completely drenched the lady closest to him with the water glass. There were some ladies sitting to the far corner of us and they were also splashed(I’m really attempting to give you the visual that this was not a small spill it was major). Everyone screamed in shock and this man’s response was to laugh. Very inappropriate when you literally have drenched a patron. All I could think was, this certainly is not funny and if he had listened to that fact that I didn’t even want a water he wouldn’t have been trying to balance 5 waters in the first place. Moving on, we place our order. My friend orders a white sangria and apple French toast. When she placed her order she specifically asked about both. She was told that the white sangria came with apples, pears and other fruit. I ordered a Bellini. When the drinks came, her«Sangria» was nothing more than a white wine with orange juice. When we asked what was in it because it wasn’t as she described, her response was«Oooooh yeeeeeea, this is our last day open so that’s all we had left.» This is a completely unacceptable response. My «Bellini» was served in a red wine glass and was barely filled. I asked our waitress about it and again her response was«ooooh yeeeea we don’t have anymore Bellini glasses. This one is way cooler. » No. I don’t want a «cool glass,» I want what I ordered and the proper amount of it. Moving along to the food. Remember the apple French toast? Yea, definitely came out with peaches. When we asked about the apples«oh yeeeeea we don’t have any more apples.» I politely asked her what her knowledges level was of what was available. It was extremely irritating to keep requesting things and receiving something other than what was ordered with seemingly no concern for the inconvenience. By this time we are completely fed up and just want the check. I over heard our waitress telling the table next to us that they didn’t have change. So when she brought the check to the table I asked her about it. Her response was that it was cash only today. I said yes, I saw the sign but when we give you money will you come back with the appropriate change and she said no. We don’t have change. My friend asked how that was possible when everyone had to pay with cash and she claimed that«basically everyone paid with 20s. «This is something that should have either been included on the notice or told to us before we ordered. The food itself was average at best. The only reason I am giving this restaurant one star is because it seems like it may have potential on a good day. Personally, I believe they should have just closed on this day.

Came here for brunch finally, saw at the bar bc everything else was taken. There was a 2 – 3 hour wait for a table. Ordered: –Brussels sprouts: They come with whipped ricotta, some orange, and pistachios. These were the best brussels sprouts I have ever had. I’m not generally a brussels sprout fan but these just blew my mind. You HAVE to order these. The whipped ricotta is subtle and a nice complement to everything on the plate, the brussels have a deep strong flavor that pairs amazingly well with the pistashios. The sweetness from the oranges complements the deep flavors of the brussels. This dish was an awesome combo, excellent creation by the chef. –smoked bacon: Bacon was decent. You definitely taste the smokiness on them. –Lemon Ricotta Pancakes: The pancakes come laying on a bed of lemon curd, amerena cherries dressing the dish, a side of maple syrup, and some mint. The lemon curd was the star. It’s sweet(which I like) but a bit tart at the same time from it being lemon. The pancakes were very soft and fluffy. The cherries were a surprisingly nice flavor addition to the dish, they pair very well with the lemon curd. Overall, excellent brunch option. My only hesitation would be that these pancakes alone would NOT fill me up, but I do tend to have an unnatural appetite. — Benedict of Braised Brisket: Underneath the egg and the tabasco hollandaise sauce there’s a layer of braised greens(I want to say collards? Can’t remember too well) all siting on an english muffin. Quality and flavor of this benedict was phenomenal. The brisket and especially that HOLLANDAISESAUCE, wow. Highly recommend it. Again my only hesitation is that these alone would not fill me up. The potatoes that came on the side were surprisingly good. Wish the order on them was larger, I was fighting with my GF over them. The potatoes were fried and had very nice crunchy texture on the outside and a softy texture on the inside. — Pastrami Reuben Sandwich: Comes with an apple-radish sauerkraut, some deli mustard, and pickle. This sandwich was good but I wasn’t as crazy about it as the rest of the dishes I tried that day. The actual pastrami was good, the apple-radish sauerkraut I thought was something different and an excellent addition to the sandwich. What made this sandwich tough to eat was the really hard crust. Once I got past the crust the sandwich was much friendlier. Personally, I wouldn’t order it again, but mainly bc there so many other options that are awesome. –6 oz. Skirt Steak n’ Eggs: The steak and eggs comes with two sunny side up eggs, a potato hash and toast. The steak is delicious. The 6oz is small in my opinion but the flavors were excellent excellent excellent. The potato hash, again, were surprisingly good. The flavors in this dish were 5 out of 5. The toast was bit of a let down. It’s just toast, but I wish the bread they used was a bit softer. I think they use the same HARD crusty bread for their pastrami reuben. — Sticky-Icky Buns: Comes with brown butter pecans. The sticky bun had a rather crusty exterior. More so than most«sticky buns». It was tasty though, the brown butter pecans are delicious. I’d re order these. — House-made Donuts: These were a b it of a let down. Nothing really stood out, they were as average as you could get. I wouldn’t recommend these. Overall, one of the top brunch spots in miami.

I came in on the first day of Miami Spice(Aug 1st) with my husband, and we had a wonderful experience. It was our first time, so we decided to stay by the bar to socialize with the staff and locals. We were immediately greeted by a friendly bartender, I believe his name is Anthony, who was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The entire bar staff was attentive and polite. We arrived around 7pm, Anthony told us that they were still on happy hour(I think it goes till 8pm), and he recommended some drinks. We decided to try some cocktails. Another bartender(I think his name is Paul) made some delicious drinks(8 $ HH) for us. I had two tequila based cocktails: la vida picante and crazy goose. I thought they were both very similar except that one is spicy. Both were delicious. They also had beer on tap for 5 $ on HH. We also had some bites from the HH specials including beef sliders with cheddar cheese and caramelized onions for 2 $ each. Sliders were small but delicious and the meat was so juicy; I ordered two for me. They also offer various small bites for 8 $ each. We tried the braised brisket on fries. The meat was dry but the seasoning was very good. Prices were good considering the location(Miami Beach — south of 5th). The friendly staff also recommended the Miami Spice menu(39 $) which was very interesting so once again we decided to follow the recommendation. We tried the mussels for appetizer, lamb dish for entrée, and key lime pie for dessert. The lamb was tender and well prepared(as opposed to well done). After dessert, I checked in on Unilocal and unlocked the offer for a complementary glass of champagne. They happily honored the offer without any hassles, which is very refreshing. So, not only did they let us know about the happy hour specials and the Miami spice menu without us having to ask, but they also honored the Unilocal offer without hesitations. That is what I called excellent customer service. It was a splendid night and a great Miami spice experience. We had good conversations with the bar staff. During our conversations, we talked about drinks and our favorite drink — the old fashioned. Anthony made us one and it was delicious! Overall it was a great experience. If you are looking for a good happy hour or Miami spice in the beach area, you should try this place. Say hi to the bartenders for me!

Me and my daughter were driving around Brickell avenue looking for a «different» place to have lunch. It was a rainy Sunday(Hurricane/TS Erika approaching), very droopy day, and while checking online on her phone she remembered a friend recommending T&C… sure, why not? South Beach on boring day sounds ideal. Upon walking in the hostess was very nice and asked if we had reservations(what? for Sunday lunch?), I realized the place was quite packed and probably their brunch must be very popular. She offered that we sit at the bar, which we did, and sat down immediately. The bartender/waiter was extremely nice and attentive(kudos!). I decided to have the Shrimp and Grits(I had that at Paula Deen’s restaurant in Savannah and they were amazing, so I wanted to compare). We also got the Beef Cheek Burger(with Cheddar Pimento Cheese, Sweet Onions, House-made Brioche) and the Poutine of Braised Brisket and Cheddar. All three dishes were excellent, a potpourri of flavors, spices and textures. I was very impressed, although I still give the nod to Paula Deen for her shrimp and grits. Also note that the dishes are on the small side, but for Sunday lunch/brunch it was ok. To round it off we ordered the Sticky-Icky Buns with Brown Butter Pecans for desert. Here something happened, after 20 minutes no Sticky Bun. Our waiter noticed that something was wrong, apologized, and in 5 minutes we had the desert, and they removed the charge from our check due to the delay. Nice! This is the correct customer service and attention that we like. In summary, the whole experience was excellent. I wanted to give it 4 stars due to the small portions(for the price), but the service was top notch and the food was quite an interesting and positive experience, four stars would not be fair. Recommended!

I arrived late for my reservations because it was immensely difficult to find parking, but then again this is a tourist area. Make time to get there. It’s also a loved place by the public since it was packed the whole time we were there. I loved, and I was grateful, that even though I arrived 20 minutes past my reservation, the hostess managed to make arrangements to sit my friend and I asap. While I did hate the struggle of finding parking, the location, the interior design and social atmosphere made it all worth it. The glittering lights dangling from the ceiling were lovely and the wall at the end filled with an eclectic variety of wine looked great. I loved the design of the restaurant! My friend and I were not disappointed. I redeemed my Unilocal offer for a complimentary champagne glass and started our meal with donuts. The donuts were not really sweet, they were kind of dry actually. I ordered Huevo Rancheros and my friend ordered Chicken & Waffles. I did not order the Chicken & Waffles because from other pictures the chicken looked dry and I sensed this was the case because it was fried. My friend let me try a decent size and surprisingly the chicken was cooked just right. It was delicious. I was not disappointed with my dish, either. The pico de gallo was spicy, but it was a welcomed flavor amongst the egg yoke and the black beans! It was a great dish. This was an enjoyable experience and I loved their brunch! Again, I recommend making a reservation and going with plenty of time to find parking. It’s a great place for groups to enjoy brunch and dinner!

Such a great ambience at tounge & cheek. We were welcomed to our table with champagne(make sure you check into Unilocal for your free glass of champagne) so what’s not to love? Beef bourguignon, a classic pillar in the culinary roster, out shined the some of the other dishes. I feel like Julia herself made it. The beef cheek burger was quite delicious. It’s their claim to fame item on the menu. I would highly recommend it. We also had the Brussels sprouts and poutine fries. The fries were pretty good, but then again it was cradled in sharp cheddar, savory brisket and warm gravy – how can you go wrong? I have trust issues when it comes to key lime pie. Too much of any component can throw off your taste buds and usher in the diabetic coma. But this key lime, was so perfectly balanced, fresh flavor, and the home made graham cracker crust to nest everything together had great texture and flavor. Well done! Our waiter was attentive, extremely professional and personable.

We made our way down to Sobe this weekend and decided to give Tongue & Cheek a whirl. Not to mention it’s been on my list of places to try for quite some time and finding a voucher on Amazon local sweetened the deal. So we arrived to a very well designed(the lighting was beautiful) dining room but chose to sit outside and do some people watching. Our server Matthew greeted us right away and presented us with the menu. He was incredibly warm and willing to answer all of our questions graciously. For drinks we ordered the Crazy Goose(tequila, ginger, pineapple, absinthe, lime) — NICE&STRONG, & the Comfortably Numb(vodka, cucumber, dill, lime) VERYREFRESHING. For apps we ordered: Chicken Liver Pâté(can you tell we love pâté by now?) & the Mahi Ceviche. The ceviche was incredibly fresh and the portion fair but I would have loved a little more acid to elevate the fish. The pâté was interestingly good, although we were confused w/the honey flavor at first, we almost licked the jar clean… I’m still trying to figure that one out. For entrees I went with the Florida Snapper w/red quinoa, corona farms zucchini and a heavenly coconut butter sauce that I would seriously consider swimming in. My husband went with the Floridian Flounder w/garlic cream, arugula and lemon dressing. Both dishes had perfectly prepared fish, with a beautiful, crisp, golden brown sear. Our favorite was definitely the snapper, as the portion was much bigger, and with fish that tasty you just want more of it. I have to say that the whole experience was lovely due in part by our server, Matthew. His attentiveness was much appreciated– and all of this with a coupon. Not many places treat you like royalty after you slap down your voucher, yet Matthew did it with style and grace. Thank you — we can’t wait to pay you a visit when Izzy opens two doors down.

I visited here again with my friend Amanda, who was doing a piece about T&C for . Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the owner and bar staff. Chef Jamie is an absolutely incredible host and chef! First off, they have one of the most incredible cocktail lists/happy hours that I have experienced in Miami. The flavors in each cocktail are smooth, surprising, and delightfully strong. Their food also speaks volumes as well. As my previous review stated, the Poutine is phenomenal. I also recommend their pig ear tacos, nachos and sliders. This is a place for the hungry, and ideal for a foodie. I have heard that their brunch is the best around town, and look forward to checking it out.

After having brunch here soon after opening, I hadn’t been back in quite some time and was eager to return. After a couple years, I was happy to see they continue to produce consistent food, drink and service. I started off with the Cucumfortably Numb, a cocktail of vodka, cucumber, lemon and dill. It was super light and refreshing. If you’re in the mood for beer, they have a good list of draft and bottled beer. For eats, we tried a little bit of everything: — Picked peach salad — Don’t let the feta cheese, peach, basil and peach sorbet combo scare you off. This is DELICIOUS and definitely worth trying. — Chicharonnes of chicken skins — The skin is my favorite(and most fattening part) of any rotisserie chicken and, as if this wasn’t enough, bacon Sriracha aioli is served on the side of these fried treats. Heaven? Quite possibly. — Crispy tater tots — I’m a potato lover and could say that these tater tots are quite possibly my favorite anywhere in Miami. The magic comes from the crispy exterior that, once cracked, leads to a soft and delicious interior. They’re topped with a garlic aioli and simply addicting. — Brussels sprouts — Our waiter urged us to order these. With whipped ricotta, orange and pistachio added to the mix, they were pretty tasty but seemed a little dry, and not my favorite of the night. — Pork and beef cheek meatball — Knowing we had lots of plates around us, I ordered the appetizer version as my main course and it was more than enough. If you like meatballs, definitely give this one a try. — Milk and cookies — Nothing gets me like a warm chocolate chip cookie. This was no exception. — Tres leches — The above dish was supposed to come with three cookies but they only had two. They made up for up by surprising us with another dessert… The cake was so moist, sweet and delicious. Overall, really enjoyed my meal at Tongue & Cheek! The menu has a little something for everyone without being too overwhelming. It’s been a spot I recommend to out-of-towners staying in South Beach and will continue to do so! Hopefully it won’t be another two years until I return again.

I am so happy that I finally came to Tongue & Cheek! I came with a few friends after the beach for happy hour and it’s totally worth it. For drink I got champagne which is part of the Unilocal deals you get. Along with the sliders and they were so good. I will definitely like to come back to have a full meal here one night. The service was great!

Bartender Carol is where it’s at. I always start restaurants off with 4 stars, however she raised the bar for this culinary experience to a solid 5. Running a bit late, we walked in about 15 minutes prior to closing. We received some of the best service yet in South Beach. We started with a margarita and a sazerac, both of which were outstanding. For appetizers, we had some pretzels with purple mustard and a giant pork and beef cheek meatball. Dinner was snapper & short rib. Dessert was some silky & creamy gelato thing in a cup that was amazing. We had asked Carol for her suggestions and glad we did. Been in South Beach for a week, and I’m going to say this has been the best dining experience yet. Not cheap, but well worth it. About $ 200 — we did get 6 drinks, 2 apps, 2 entrees, and a dessert. Please try this place!

Sometimes one just needs to try new places. Tongue and cheek is a gourmet delight and from the moment we walked in, we were treated we were about to enjoy so. I ordered the snapper, which was out of this world good, my fiancé and her mother each ordered the churasco, which they said was some of the best tasting meat they had ever had. For desert, we shared a key lime tart that was so rich and wholesome. The quality of the food at this place would be so hard to match and the server was so on his game. We had a complimentary drink and our Groupon made the meal very affordable. We will be back sooner than later for sure.

Went to Tongue & Cheek with a group of 8 and we had a great time! When we checked in on Unilocal,we all received a free glass of champagne, an awesome surprise. Their cocktails are delicious, and I ate the NY Strip with carrots and potatoes, also delicious. It was pretty empty for a Saturday night and the service was a little slow. However, the waiter was super friendly and even turned up the music when we requested it. Would recommend!

I should probably start this review by pointing out that I ate like a disgusting amount of food at this meal. We had the chicken chicharones and the calamari for appetizers. Loved the chicharones. I think it was probably my favorite part of the meal. I mean, who doesn’t love fried chicken skin with bacon siracha dipping sauce? The calamari was tasty as well. The breading on it was a little heavy for my tastes, but the taste was right. For my entrée, I had the fried chicken with a biscuit and slaw. The chicken itself was very well cooked. Nice and juicy. The breading of the chicken had an unmissable honey flavor to it. The biscuit was fantastic. It came with a honey butter and it was one of the best biscuits I can remember eating. Honestly, I didn’t really even try the slaw. I also ordered a side of their poutine. The flavor was good. It was essentially steak fries smothered in brisket and white gravy. I liked it, but by the time I got to them, I was so full I didn’t really get to fully appreciate them. The service was very good I thought. The servers were attentive without being annoying and they seemed legitimately excited about the food. They also have a homemade grenadine at this place. Try it. It’s pretty tasty. Definitely a solid spot and not overly pricey given the location.

Tongue and cheek has been on my brunch list for quite some time now and yesterday I was finally able to come in and get some! On my prior visit I only had the pleasure of having a drink. This time I went for the entire experience. We started off with their bottomless mimosas or may I say bellinis. For $ 25 you get to mix and match between bellinis, mimosas and bloody Mary’s. Even though I have had bottomless at other brunch spots for less than $ 25, these are actually super tasty and don’t taste like they have been pre mixed and have been sitting in the pitcher for a while. Aside from that I must say I have never seen a service quite like T & C’s. Every time any of the servers saw our glasses empty, they would come voluntary to refill our drinks. Very impressive! For actual brunch I decided to go for something simple since I usually tend to stick to chicken waffles everywhere I go. I had the egg platter that consisted of organic eggs, country styled potatoes and country styled bread. The eggs were scrambled and cooked to perfection, fluffy and were more than a reasonable sized portion. The potatoes were also crisp and had a very distinct taste. Brunch here can be a little on the expensive side but you can’t expect anything less when you’re in the middle of south beach. Our server was so friendly and helpful and made sure we were having a good time. I wished I could remember her name so I can praise her. Thank you T & C for a fantastic time!

LOVED everything we had!!! This place definitely can compete with Yardbird. LOVE: Carbonated oysters! It’s unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. They pop in your mouth! Fried chicken! Meatballs! Beef cheek burger! ANDDD brisket poutine!!! If you’re into meat and savory dishes, this is the place for you. I love the innovative dishes and hip vibes. Keep it up, T&C!

Great food, service and scene! Went for Sunday brunch, quickly ordered the bottomless drinks… one of the best bloodies I’ve had in a long time. The mango bellinis were great too. The table ordered the brisket eggs benedict, egg white frittata, French toast and BLT wrap… absolutely no complaints other than the chips that came with the BLT, they just didn’t have any taste. I’ll be back for sure, even a good place to go on Sunday’s if it’s raining because they have a DJ.

Finally! Been patiently waiting to find the time to come to the beach and eat dinner here at T&C. My friend told me they were having a nice little deal on TravelZoo($ 59 for $ 100 credit on entire bill). I knew this would be the perfect week to check this place out. We started off with some drinks($ 15-$ 16 price range)… Pretty high for such a small cocktail. But hey, it’s South Beach. Still… I seen just as nice restaurants have better prices. On a good note, they do have a happy hour, and everything is half priced mon-fri 5 – 8 at the bar only. Now on to the food… We started with the carbonated oysters. AMAZING. So refreshing and full of flavor. It was probably one of the best oysters I ever had. Then we both ordered the braised beef short rib dinner. The meat was so soft and tender, and the whole plate was filled with insane flavor. Great portions as well,(LOTS of meat!) My girlfriend ordered the side of brussel sprouts, which were so unique tasting. It was mixed with orange glaze and ricotta mousse, and were charred. Every time you took a bite it was just interesting to take in all the spices and herbs. The side of poutine fries were hot, salty and delicious. Sad part was when we came in our waiter informed us the lobster rigatoni was out. I was looking forward to trying that but oh well. Next time! Overall, great food, the waiter was attentive and funny. Will definitely come back to T&C!
