They definitely changed ownership and the service is lacking but the food is still good. I used to frequent this place in the early 2000’s and the flavor out the same thank goodness for that. I don’t judge a place by its appearance, you might be in for a surprise. Try it for yourself dragon roll is awesome!

The absolute best service on south beach! I came with a group of friends and we were all treated with fast and friendly service. Try the kanisu cucumber role, you wont regret it! Also the hookah is so much fun! Enjoy it :))

Dragon roll was forgettable. Got a groupon deal($ 15 for $ 30) that said it was for two. I went alone and they would not accept the groupon. I asked to speak with the manager and pleaded my case that the number of people eating a fixed amount of food should be inconsequential. I asked if I were to pull a homeless guy off the street and order him a tap water would he accept it then and he said he would. I told him that was a ridiculous concept. Overall, he was a jerk. The service was poor. Empty miso soup bowl sat there all meal. I had to ask the sushi maker to refill my drink. Then they have the nerve to add on a mandatory tip!

You’d think sushi and hookah wouldn’t go together, but this is South Beach where hookah apparently goes with everything. The sushi isn’t extraordinarily creative or fancy, but it’s not meant to be. It’s solid, fresh, reliable, simple sushi for a reasonable price. The«green sushi,» which is simply maki rolls with cilantro, was surprisingly refreshing. And the staff are all very laid back, happy, and cool. Hankering for some California Rolls, I went there late last night with a friend. She said, «I wish I could try them, but you know … Jewish. Can’t eat shellfish.» I explained to her that it probably isn’t real crab anyway, but let’s ask. The waiter instantly knew and explained imitation crab to her in Russian. When you go, sit outside so you can people watch. That’s half the surreal fun of South Beach.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with this restaurant? I’ve tried calling, using the online reservation tool and emailing. Everything is broken and disconnected. HELP I just want to make a reservation!

This was my staple sushi restaurant for the past 10 years. I have been hesitant about trying the restaurant since they changed owners. I should have stayed away. First, my friend asked for a Sake-Tini. Very common at ANY sushi restaurant. She had to explain that it was ½ saki and ½ vodka. It came in a martini glass with ice cubes. WRONG. Second, our ginger salad came with dressing that tasted like peanuts. It was good, but NOT ginger. Third, we ordered a spicy tuna California roll. One would think that its made of crab meat, spicy tuna and avocado. When it arrived at our table, it was spicy tuna and avocado. Better known as a spicy tuna avocado roll Where is the crabmeat we asked the waiter? He informed us that a «California Roll» is just a style of the roll(the round shape with rice on the outside and seaweed inside), not actual ingredients. He then went on to tell us that the California Roll was first made with Salmon and Avocado and that crab meat doesn’t belong in a California Roll. We looked it up – see here. He is an idiot. We will not be going back. If you decide to go to Sushi Rock, take 95 N to Ft. Lauderdale.

Food was awesome and so was the service. My wife and I where looking for somewhere to eat a late night meal using Groupon and this restaurant came up and the server was outstanding. The place was dead so maybe that had something to do with how good we were treated but will go back. Food was amazing!

After a week of food in puerto rico, I just wanted to eat something simple and good. Fresh fish and maybe some soup. The staff was so nice. Genuinely happy and cool. I ordered«to-go» and thought a nice night in my hotel room was in order. The food was just OK, kind of disappointing actually. The rainbow roll was good, but the spicy tuna was just average and the crunch roll was overdone. The dynamite was just OK too. I expected a bit more for south beach, but can’t say I would go back, unless just for drinks with friends. It has a great atmosphere and the staff made the short visit worth it.

The sushi was actually quite delish and fresh. I would have given them a better rating except, the worst possible thing happened after we finished eating and paid the check… I went to the women’s restroom and it was FILTHY. absolutely horrible. There was a waitress using one of the stalls and another waitress chatting with her outside of it. As soon as the one in the stall finished, flushed the toilet and came out, she headed for the door WITHOUTWASHINGHERHANDS. Her companion noticed the look of disgust on my face and nonchalantly pulled her friend over to the sink before she could completely exit the bathroom. I am 100% certain that had it not been for me, they would have left without washing up. No amount of good sushi could possibly make up for that.

Great hole in the wall. Good food overall, prices are fair for south beach. Service is great for sobe! Friendly staff, cheesy décor but i love it anyhow. A great spot for a new sobe transplant.

ha! I went on a date to sushi rock when I was 16 and I have always liked/craved the sassy lil joint since… I actually have my birthday party there every year; they are very accommodating(like party of 15) and the food is a crowd pleaser… the drink prices are great and they always have specials… I don’t have one particular thing to write about… I like most of their rolls, entrée, and salads… the staff is always friendly and helpful, granted they know me, but they are nice to everyone. For some reason Sushi Rock has become a solid choice for my girlfriends and I to eat at on the weekends, we just like it. Another plus they have outside seating and they have a great ambience… I always like the music they play there… overall a great non-fussy sobe spot

First of, this place is run by Thai people. My best friend and i went here last night, and ordered from their sushi section. I ordered Kimchi roll and the spider roll. When it came i stuffed my mouth with the kimchi roll and later spit it out onto their cloth napkin, Yes i did the same thing to the spider roll. The sushi rice had wayyyyy too much vinegar! Thats all i can taste was the rice vinegar and nothing else. Their kimchi roll was an imitation of the korean Kimbap. the difference was the conch, but wait i didn’t taste the conch nor anything else. Just the damn vinegar. Their spider roll smell so damn fishy i had to drop, spit, and wipe. The waitress came over and asked me if everything was ok, i said no theres too much vinegar in the sushi rice. When the bill came she still charged me. I drop my twenty and stormed out. My best friend had left a 3 $ tip. Everywhere i go to eat in Miami South beach, it taste like drunk food. Miami’s food got nothing on Boston!

I was a bit hesitant to eat at Sushi Rock due to some of the previous reviews(e.g-urine smell & bad sushi), but after eating here I was very impressed. I had made reservations for my birthday dinner at a certain time, but of course everybody was running on «cuban time» and decided to show up an hour late! The staff was very friendly and patient while me & my friends were waiting for the rest of the party to arrive. They didn’t give us a hard time at all. I love how retro it is inside. And no, the restaurant did not smell like urine while we were there. The restaurant was not crowded at all for a Saturday night. It felt like my party & I were the only ones at the restaurant-I liked that! I had the Bagel & Volcano roll, which were awesome. The rolls were small compare to other sushi joints, but they were still good. Overall, Sushi Rock is a cool place to have some good sushi with a big group of friends. Next time, I’ll sit outside and people watch on Collins Ave.

3 and ½ stars. We went on a nice sunny yet cool afternoon so the outdoor seating was nice. Nice ambiance, and very neat to be able to just hang in our bathing suits after a day at the beach. There were 3 of us so we ordered a boat, the miso soup did not wow me, but the boat was yummy. The boat for 2 people was more than enough for 3, so that was good. Yes very slow service BUT nice servers so that is ok. The taste of the fish. ok. Not melt — in — your — mouth quality like at Toni’s. l definitely would come back but wouldn’t be my first choice. l do have many friends who swear by it though.

Yummy! Oh yeah. The have green tea ice cream with red beans. What more do you need to know? Fish was fresh and delish. Rolls came out with just the right amount of well spiced rice vs. those places that surround the fish with way too much rice that is old and crunch. So, so good. Say hi to Jack, the sweetie waiter.
