Amaaaazing Indonesian food. Found this place on a website called travelzoo and decided to try it out. They bring out about 25 dishes of different Indonesian foods and everyone tries a bit of everything. I had a bite of everything and ended up completely stuffed. The flavor is amazing, the atmosphere is inviting and the service is excellent. Highly recommend this authentic food.

When my wife and I heard that were was an Indonesian restaurant on the beach, we knew we had to try it out. After a honeymoon in Bali, I gained an affinity for Indonesian food. Needless to say, this was definitely going to be our next date-night stop. However, when we found out it was Dutch-Indonesian fusion, we didn’t really know what to expect. We arrived on Saturday night to an almost empty restaurant. We had our pick of tables and we chose a 4 top so we could enjoy date night together(sitting on the same side). We came armed with a Travelzoo deal and the waitress was kind to accept the voucher right off the bat. Tip: while there is currently a Groupon and a Travelzoo deal available for this restaurant the Groupon is a set tasting menu. In our opinion, since we already got our feet wet with Indonesian food on our Honeymoon, the Travelzoo deal was the better option. The restaurant itself was on the smaller side and didn’t really have much of an Indonesian vibe to it. However, let’s get to the star of the night: the food. While in Bali, I absolutely fell in love with Ayam Bumbu Bali. My wife couldn’t get enough of Nasi Goreng and was hoping her dish brought back some foodie nostalgia. The Ayam Bumbu Bali was on point! The first bite exploded with spice, flavor and when I closed my eyes I could picture myself eating the same meal on a gorgeous Bali beach. This dish was out of this world(country) good. My wife being a Nasi Goreng snob did not get the same effect with her meal. She liked it, but it unfortunately was not too similar to what she grew to love in Bali. We also ordered the corn cake appetizers which were deep fried corn cakes accompanied by what seemed to be a play on duck sauce. They were tasty, and not Indonesian so maybe it was a Dutch dish. One critique I have is the timing of the meal. After we ordered our entrée, the food came out 10 minutes later. Normally, I love when the food comes out fast. However, this was too fast, and I felt like our date night was slightly rushed. If you have never tried Indonesian food, I definitely recommend this place. I would suggest getting a Rijsttafel, which is the tasting menu so you can try a wide variety of things. By the time we left on Saturday night, the restaurant was slammed so they’re obviously doing something right.

After a full week dining at hotel restaurants nearby we decided to go out. Found this place within 5 mins walking from our hotel. And what and find! We loved it! The food was great, the service was fantastic and the check was surprisingly low. Chef explained the dishes and was really friendly and the staff were there as soon as we needed something. We loved the atmosphere and Indomania restaurant. It was a really good change from those other restaurants.

Want something new? Here’s your chance. Indomania is an Indonesian restaurant with a Dutch twist. If you are a vegetarian this place is a double treat. Didn’t know this place existed until a promotion came my way. Take a right turn on Collins and 26th Street and you’re right there. Peanut, coconut and curry take the stage here and the mix is wonderful. If you choose the rice table options you will be in a for a treat as there are a lot of small plates for you to explore. Restaurant was clean and the staff was super friendly. Gina rocks. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. Corn cakes with the sweet chilly sauce are great! Desserts are equally exotic. I highly recommend it.

This place is great. The atmosphere is intimate and homey. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I was not that hungry so I got the smaller version of the main dish called Nasi Rames. Plenty of good. All very delicious with lots of flavor. My person favorite was the red curry portion of the dish. We also topped it off with black rice pudding and a cuban coffee which was very delightful. Definetly experience Indonesian dutch if you havent yet!

Not many places in south beach have a decent vegetarian menu and a lot of great spices. Indomania has both! We ate on a Friday and walked right in. It’s really small and cute. I would suggest for a double date to try out the larger rijfstafel. I really wanted to try more dishes. We started with the corn cakes and martabak, ground lamb wraps. Get the sambal for some heat. I had the Vegetarian Nasi Rames. The eggplant curry was amazing! It was so flavorful and spicy. And they had tempeh skewers! Half the menu is veg. My boyfriend got the regular Nasi Rames. He ate every bit of it. Lots of different foods to try on it.

What a great experience. We came here for mothers day and enjoyed it. We ordered 2 of the Rijsttafel Ocean, 1 Nasi Rames as our main dishes that we split among the 4 of us. We got an order of perkedel and soto ayam as the appetizer. The flavoring of everything was amazing. It reminded me of some good javanese food back home(Suriname). The ladies working are incredibly friendly, the place is small but comfortable. I can’t pick my favorite because everything really was amazing. If you are looking to try something different, stop by here. Give the black rice pudding a try while you are at it.

Indomania was awesome. This was our first time eating Indonesian food which we didn’t realize had strong Dutch influence. We ordered one of the combinations for 2. It was a great way to try everything. I think we had 18 small plates at our table with amazing dishes that we had never tried. Several were curry flavored meats which were great. We honestly liked all 18 of them. But we like everything.

We had lunch there on a Saturday and were the only ones at the restaurant. The waiting time for the dishes was not bad, but longer than we expected for an empty establishment. The sauce on the red curry chicken was great, but the sweet spicy chicken was far more flavorful. The chicken itself wasn’t very tasty, a little rubbery and with more cartilage than we cared for. The rice was not Asian, it was plain white rice such as you find in the Cuban café around the corner. The string beans seemed under cooked and the coffee tasted horrible — like burnt coffee. The price was decent for the amount of food served to us. We might have had an atypical experience, but I don’t feel very encouraged to come back.

I was visiting Miami Beach and saw good reviews for Indomania. I stopped by for lunch, and it was delicious! I had the two-protein lunch, which was quite inexpensive, especially considering the great taste, excellent service, and nice presentation. The chicken was spicy, perfectly so, and the beef was also perfection on a plate, with a sweetish sauce. It was served with rice and a nice mix of vegetables. It was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. I can only imagine how satisfying their dinner must be!

An Indonesian Treasure waiting for you to discover! Hidden away off busy Collins Avenue and 26, you will find a hidden treasure that many either don’t know about or forget it exists. From the moment we stepped out of the car, the restaurant doors opened and a friendly face welcomed my friend and I to what became an evening of pure taste and flavor. Clean, organized, sharp open and welcoming are the words that come to mind to describe the small dining room. Personable wait staff will make you feel at home, Mario our server was charming and helpful and did not miss a beat during our visit. I am not familiar with this type of cuisine and was relieved to see they offered tasting menus. I noticed how the other patrons around us, a couple and a larger group were all in deep conversation and had a joyous look to then. The meal arrived and it was a feast to the eye, an explosion of flavors that transported me to unknown lands to me. Hot, spicy, crisp, cool sweet, every flavor and aroma I could imagine was neatly placed in front of me on a presentation that opened my appetite and expanded my senses. The tasting menu we tried(THERIJSTTAFELSUMATRA $ 32PP) had these items; *SATEAYAM– Grilled chicken skewer with peanut sauce *AYAMBESENGEK– Boneless chicken in mild coconut curry *SEMURJAWA– Slow cooked beef in kecap sauce *RENDANGPADANG– Beef stew in thick, spiced coconut sauce *SAMBAL G UDANG– Shrimps with peteh beans in coconut sauce *NASIPUTIH– Steamed white rice *NASIGORENG– Fried rice *GULAITELUR– Eggplant stew *SAMBAL G BUNCIS– Boiled egg in curry sauce *TUMISSAYURAN– Crispy, spiced string beans *GADOGADO– Stirfried mixed vegetables *OSENGTERONG– Salad with string beans, cabbage & tofu *ACARKETIMOEN– Sweet and sour cucumber *RUJAKMANIS– Indonesian fruit salad *KRUPUKUDANG– Shrimp cracker *SERUNDENG– Fried coconut and peanuts *SAMBALULEG– Spicy Sauce I will be returning to this hidden Gem very soon! Notes: *Parking can be a challenge in the area *Very affordable prices *Great for first dates * If you’re vegetarian one of the tasting menus is specially made for you.

Let me start with under staffed employees, on crunch hours their service is bad. Don’t take their word on how busy the restraunt is. We called in and asked for a reservation and they said there is no waiting list, upon showing up, they turned us «down» with empty tables and said they are reserved. Their service takes a toll on busy days — beware of it.

I came here with my fiancée while on our vacation to Miami. We had never tired Indonesian food so we decided to take a little adventure. We both ordered Rijsttafels and it was great! The amount of food was more than filling for two people and Vic our server recommended a wine pairing. If you enjoy spicy, sweet, and coconut flavors I highly recommend this place. Our compliments to the chef(Igor)!

Who are those 171 reviewers and what did they order that was edible? Every few years Unilocal steers us wrong and this was it. One tasteless peanut sauce coating every item ordered from lime pancakes to salad to noodles. We paid the exorbitant bill – which had the audacity to include an 18% tip – and left in less than an hour. We bought fruit at the bodega next door: at least it was tasty. My favorite part is the owner telling us the tip addition is Done everywhere. Clearly it is not as revealed by many reviews here that felt taken

What a charming relief! I skeptical of this simply because I have never had Indonesian food. It was so perfect and delicious. the look is warn, intimate and charming. The staff is spot on. We were greeted by the owner who seated us and informed us about the traditions of Indonesian food, down to the ingredients and how to hold your utensils. We ordered the Rijsttafel Sumatra, WOW, so delicious! So many different options of various traditional food items. I highly recommend this! We read reviews and saved some room for the Green Panda Roll and Coconut Ice Cream. this was bright green and had a warm savory center. Another must. Thank you to: Aga, Mbak Ari, Rik and the Chef(who came out to meet us) Igor! We cannot wait to return!

Amazing food, great ambiance and a staff that goes out of their way for everyone, including a screaming infant. The Sumatra(sp?) tasting menu was more than enough food for 2, and offered incredibly varied small plates. The flavor nuances were delicious and I’m looked forward to finding an Indonesian cook book when I get home. If you’re afraid it’s spicy, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The host speaks 5 languages and the chef came to our table to talk about the dishes. A must stop for any visitor or local!

Great food, very tasty but… We were recommended by our family friends to definitely check this place out so we decided to have lunch on December 26. They have a nice lunch combo with choice of 1 or 2 proteins(9 or 13 $). To our bad luck, the only option we had over there was 1 shrimp and pork or beef. All chicken options 3⁄6 were not available. We tried to request the server if we can get atleast one more option to choose from. She kept saying her manager asked to not give anything else. Well we chose among the available options, ala carte entrees and it was amazing. The shrimp gravy was unlike anything we have had before. We had their signature dessert — dadar gulung and it was fantastic! When it came to our check, we saw that they had added a 18% gratuity for 2 people. Upon asking why, the server said it was Florida state law. I told her that we can understand when the party is more that 5⁄6 people. She again told that it was the restaurant’s policy. Well that made no sense! We were very happy with the food but very upset with giving no options and enforcing the tip. Summary: great food, bad service(whom should we blame– hostess — she may be just doing what is asked of her!)

The food was excellent and made to order. The Hangop(yorgurt) dessert was recommend and excellent along with the lamb appetizer. Highly recommend. As for a previous review, Miami restaurants add gratuity to all bilks; this is now law and ranges from 18−20%.

Me and my friend went there today, the place is pretty died around lunch time, I got there at 12:30, left at 2, only one other table with one customer besides us. The food is really nothing special, too salty and we ordered the set menu for two which is $ 30 per person. Beef dishes were very dry and salty, chicken was ok, pork dish was also too dry and salty. At the end when I ask for the bill the only waitress there brought my bill to me, it was 68 some dollars, they charge me $ 2 for a tiny little hot sauce, of course they will not tell you that, and that hot sauce is 2.75 a bottle in Asian supermarket. After I gave her my card and she gave back to me it became $ 82 or $ 83, I put my tips on because it just said tip_, and total_, after I’m done, I took a second look about my bill I realized that the waitress put the tips on already and without telling me, on their menu it said %18 gratuity will be added to the bill for party of 5, but there were only 2 of us and she did not bother to tell me, is that even legal? I am not going back for that kind of horrible food and immoral server they have.

We had the pleasure of visiting last night and we had to give this place an excellent review. The food was outstanding! We had the Sate Kambig(Lamb Skewers) for an appetizer. The lamb was tender and moist on the inside while perfectly charred on the outside. This is one of the few places in Florida we know of that offers Rijsitafel. It includes a variety of dishes and requires a two person minimum. The Sumatra included some fantastic dishes, especially the pork. The pork was succulent and had a perfectly spicy yet tangy sauce. The food is eclectic with various tastes, including peanut sauce over chicken satay and Eggplant. The restaurant is a gem with the lady who owns it very hospitable and willing to discuss the origins of each dish. The chef, Igor, is outstanding and we had a chance to talk about the recipes he uses. He is one of the finest chefs we have encountered and his stellar talents would be at home in any of NYC’s fine dining establishments, as well as here is SOBE. They take walk-ins but we made a reservation, just in case. The bill was reasonable and an accompanying bottle of Malbec was only 38 dollars. We ate at Jose’s Bazaar the night before, spent half of what we spent there at this place and left much more pleased. Strongly recommended.

Absolute perfection for me! I had this place bookmarked on Unilocal for months until we decided to try something different and he it was. We made it just in time before they closed for luch but the lovely, very kind and absolute perfection of a server(her name is Ari) let us in and served us like a true professional; there are no words to describe how well she served… From A to Z, all perfect. Then the food, we tried the Sumatra Rijattrafel(advised by our great waitress) and out of the 15 items we were served, not one of them was anything but delicious! Chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, veggies… Everything great! I advise to have patience when trying to find parking, because it’s not easy at all, at least the Sunday we went in, so planned ahead in accordance to. Ari is only working Sunday(sadly) but I bet all the servers are as good if they were chosen by the same person. Thank you very much guys… You deserve a 6th star!

The food is excellent and the ambiance though a bit dim is comfortable. I had Beef Rendang which was cooked to succulent perfection and folks sitting in the tables beside me were raving about the Nasi and Bami Goreng. The service was good as well. The only gripe is that this place is not proportionately priced. Its overpriced I would say.

We were here specifically for the Sumatra rijsttafel(and also because it was walking distance from our hotel) and it didn’t disappoint! I think its a great deal if you have never tried Indonesian food before. I think, overall, we had ten different tastings. Our favorite was the chicken curry, the spicy beef curry and the shrimp curry. There was a sweet pork curry that tasted almost chocolaty that I was not a fan of. I rarely leave meat uneaten, but even I couldn’t get through that one. There was two types of rice, fried and white with garlic, which were very tasty and great with all the different curries. There was more than enough food for two people and we left very satisfied! The interior is cute and romantic. Sharing a rijsttafel is a great idea for a date!

Words that come to my mind when I think of this place are — welcoming, intimate and classy! Family style dining — very true to their Indonesian roots — always at its best :) I have been here twice now, and both times have been enjoyable and tasty to say the least. We started off with the chicken satay — grilled chicken skewers doused i yummy peanut sauce. The chicken was grilled to perfection, soft and succulent — just the best. My little sister loved the corn cakes with the ‘duck sauce’ kinda sauce they came with — super yummy. We shared the seafood Rijsttafel — there was at least 3 different kinds of salad, I loved the cucumber one best. I thought the egg in coconut curry was a little bland, but no worries — every other dish more than made up! The lemon fried rice with galangal was a little too strong on the galangal for me, but yummy nonetheless. The absolute killer for me though, was the cod fish. suateed in a skillet with some black rice and onions. One bite and I was in heaven. The fish was perfectly cooked — flaky and soft, super flavorful and just the right size. My sister loved the chicken in coconut curry — again super flavorful and very different. The food also comes with a side of sweet and hot pepper relish(eat at your own risk) and some roasted coconut flakes for you to sprinkle over your food. Keep in mind, the food though pricey — is aimed at making your visit an excellent culinary expereince. The service was SUPER friendly and the whole ambiance of the place is very intimate and family like — its almost like dining in someone’s home. Both my sister and i give this place a double thumbs up :)
