The first place we had no issue getting into in Miami. We were also approached a a guy who worked there and were introduced to his friends and seated at a table with bottle service. To top it off, Dennis Rodman was there that night. The place is chic and intimate. Great patio area too.

Saturday night. Its getting windy and a bit chilly. 2 dudes(one of them happens to be yours truly Blazn Azn) and 2 fine looking female friends have arrived at the door of Gemma. There is neither a line outside nor did it seem like it was packed on the inside. Bald, 5 ‘3’ doorman is acting like he does not see us. Finally he approaches and gives a nod to my male sidekick as he was in the front. Doorman(DM): Good evening?! Male Sidekick(MS): Its gonna be 4 of us! DM: You have a bottle service? MS: No DM: Give me one minute and step to the side please… To the side? WTF? To the side of your imaginary line? Puh-lease!!! Anyways, we are finally in, the décor is luxury-style(ish) and I dig the chandeliers. It extends to the terrace where the majority of the patrons are to be found sipping on some pretty drinks. The terrace is nice and looks over the Lincoln mall, but it seems as though there is a hunt for an open spot by the balcony. We sit by the bar, the house music is blasting and the overall vibe is not that bad after all. Nothing too unusual about the drinks. Can’t say that I won’t be back, just thought I’d input my 2 cents about this joint.

Went to this spot a few times when they first opened. Pretty cool lounge. Typical Miami décor. It was pretty crowded when I went, but probably because it had just opened. Drinks are pricey and the doorman can be rude and unwelcoming. Best feature is the balcony overlooking Lincoln Rd.

Gemma is the only spot on Lincoln Road with an upper deck that overlooks the famous pedestrian mall. Now, based on that feature alone, this place could be so much cooler. I’ve been on several occasions on the weekends, and have not once been greeted by any type of crowd. That being said, there’s no reason to have a snobby doorman working and pretty effectively keeping people out. It seems as though the place could afford to let more people in. After all, it’s on Lincoln Road — not exactly the mecca of the club/lounge scene on the Beach. Drinks are good though, but priced much like every other SoBe establishment. They also try to do bottle service, but I don’t know how well that’s working out for them. Try the ginger or pomegranite martinis — they’re yummy!

What a well-meaning concept, but sadly, I can’t imagine that this place will be open for long. Nice, open areas, comfortable seating, and a cool balcony overlooking Lincoln Road. Drinks are cheap and relatively well-made. The problem is the current management. The Saturday night I came was almost empty. Why? Because there was some sort of fashion promotion going on earlier. The owner said something to the promoter, the promoter got offended and was subsequently kicked out with all of his guests. Owner then proceeds to skulk around the lounge all night, pissed because his lounge is empty on a Saturday night. Being so new, I don’t think Gemma has quite the prestige to afford to piss off high-profile people. Oh well. It was still a good place to be, though I expect it’ll be gone when I come to Miami next.

did someone ask for a $ 15 mixed drink? i know i didn’t! gemma is a beautiful gold digging bitch! probably learned it from her swindling sister, rosinella… i went here a couple times when it first opened because it’s gorgeous inside, not overcrowded, and the people that work there are nice, but i agree with linette p. that i’ll be holding out for free drinks… p. s. — tax and tip are included in that 15 bucks

Just one of those places, pretty much looks like any other lounge South Beach has. Probably wont go back unless there is another free drinks type party. What can I say, I love free drinks.

This place may be new based on crispness of the furniture and the crowd. On a Friday night there were barely enough people to sit at the bar and fill the balcony. They did a great job on the décor and I can see it becoming a nice place to relax and have breathing room — perhaps before hitting a more hectic club scene. Its right in the middle of Lincoln Avenue so its an ideal spot to transition between eating and hitting the town. Its small but has a nice upscale feel and ambient music to match.
