Alden Hotel South Beach

We got this room as a birthday gift for my niece who is visiting from France and happily she was very pleased. I was also pleased with the very pleasant staff, as my nieces time of arrival kept changing and I had to keep calling them with last minute updates. The front desk lady was kind and polite and this is certainly appreciated, especially when working with a variety of unpredictable changes and travel arrangements. My niece enjoyed the location and found the room clean and very comfortable. All in all this was a very good experience the Alden receives high marks for comfort, location and customer service.

We were there just for one night, the ac wasn’t working when we walked in but it was taken care of within 5 minutes.
The room was clean (super soft bed though, very uncomfortable) and the hotel staff very nice. We were even lucky to find a parking spot nearby. I wish the staff warned us though that with the full moon and high tide the creek floods the street.
If you want to stay there and care about your car, park far away.

Stayed here for 5 nights and for the price it was a good stay. Took note of the other reviews and didn’t rent a car and made sure I got my deposit back. The The location was great! So close to the beach, a few small restaurants, and a 5 dollar über max to get downtown

Pros:
1. Location
2. I thought the place was pretty clean
3. Even though I booked a «regular» room, I ended up with a fridge, counter space & microwave with a tablet set too.
4. Low-​key, quiet hotel. Staff was nice enough.
Cons:
1. Pool was closed and there was only 1 empty vending machine.
2. Bed was the worst bed i’ve ever laid on
3. Its set up like a dorm building, so theres no plush-​cozy hotel feel here
4. Parking is on the street and extremely difficult to find AND limited to # of hours and you paid via meter
Note 1 — Only a few TV channels came in and they were spanish. Didnt matter to me, but might to you.
Also another note — I gave cash for the security deposit so I could ensure I would get it back in the morning. Who even takes a security deposit and doesnt apply it to the charge when I check out?

I’m only giving this two stars for the price and location. It should be one. We stayed here for two nights while in Miami since we just needed something affordable and near the beach, however it did not provide many services as advertised. Pool was unavailable due to construction. There was no cable and when we asked them to fix it on our first night there, they said they would tomorrow. The next day we called again and they said they put in an email request and basically ignored us. They obviously just didn’t have a lot of people around and couldn’t be bothered. The shower door was broken and someone came up to fix it but he was only able to repair one half of it. The toilet doesn’t flush right and there were no actual phones in the room like they advertised. Don’t let the swanky looking lobby fool you, this hotel sucks. They took a while to give me back my security deposit too. If you just need a place to crash at night, then this place works
