Heard they are closing on coming weeks so I come to enjoy their food one last time. They are a gem in the town of Metuchen. Although parking sometimes not easy to come by, it’s well worth it. Decoy is darker in style with light music on the background. There’re about 12 – 15 tables but I never have to wait dining here. They ran daily special on dinner. Since Mimi always give me good suggestion, I hardly know what’s in the menu. I had their burger with fries, chicken pasta, curry chicken over rice. They are all very tasty. Since this’d be my last time dining here, I ordered their signature honey roast chicken wings and their soup of day. Honestly I don’t know what kind of soup(something curry) it is, but it actually taste very good. Creamy base slight curry favor but not spicy. Their chicken wings grilled perfectly, skin crunchy and the meat are not over done. I also had their filer mignon with rice. It’s nicely done. It’s unlike my other filer mignon experience; it’s thin cut like T-bone steak. Served with cream mushroom sauce, it’s well worth the price. Well, I am going to miss their food.

The service was very decent, but the food was awful! it tasted very cheap… We had the Beef Burgandy and the Night in Bankok. Really disappointing quality. That said the service/waitress was really nice!

Mimi’s is a great addition to Metuchen’s Main Street. The food is always excellent, there is a wide variety on the menu, and the service is friendly. We often are welcomed by Mimi, herself. It’s our«go to» for a nice, local dinner — whether we want Asian inspired fusion, seafood, noodles, a big salad or an excellent burger. Prices are reasonable for the quality and nice-sized portions served. It’s BYOB, as well.

Marion T. Can’t say enough about this place! Absolutely the best food and a wonderful variety of dishes to choose from. A gem not to be missed. The chef /owner and his wife are always so pleasant and definitely aim to please. Between four of us last Sunday we had delicious Walnut Chicken on Noodles, simple and delicious Meatloaf with mashed potatoes, Buffalo Wontons, Corn Chowder with shrimp, Mushroom Barley soup, Salad and to top it off, Chocolate Lava cake and fried Mango Egg Rolls! It’s our«go to place» in Metuchen!

My first time here last night, This place is so charming and homey. The food is out of this world. The special soup was a carrot and coconut. It was ridiculously flavorful and über-creamy. My entrée was called«One night in Bangkok.» Well, I want to go back! This is chicken pounded flatter than my mom’s chicken parmignan with loads of fresh herbs like cilantro and mint. The spicy cucumber salsa alone is enough to come back for and demand some to take home. I can’t say enough about how fresh and tasty this food is. I will be back again!

I’ve been here twice and the service is excellent. Everything came out fast not a single mistake and everything was hot. The food is pretty good too however, I’ve yet to have something that wows me. The miso salmon was just OK the sea scallops were different. The only thing that I loved was the vegetables. They season and cooked them to perfection so much so that my toddler ate some and he does not eat vegetables. The sogi cake left a lot to be desired. It was like bland bread pudding. In my opinion it’s a place worth checking out for yourself.

Ate here with my family because it was packed everywhere else on a Saturday night and pretty calm inside of Mimi’s. My aunt told me that this was a Thai place so I got excited for drunken noodle or something in that vein but she was very very wrong. Asian fusion only begins to explain this restaurant, I would say it’s very light on the Asian flavors… Our server was nice and multilingual and chatted with my family in Chinese, even though that seemed like it could have been a passive aggressive move, as if to say«I’ve known what you’ve been saying about me this whole time». I don’t really care and that’s what my family gets for thinking they can talk trash in public whenever they want. Everyone ordered something different and I tried bits of what everyone ordered, different fish dishes etc. We also ordered a sampler appetizer for the table, which was tasty and everything was fried well. The entrees were fine but boring. I got curried chicken thighs, which was three chicken thighs and a bowl of white rice. Again, the chicken was fine. Pretty dry for a thigh and not really what I was in the mood for. I probably would have been better off ordering a burger and fries from here.

Have been meaning to try this for quite some time and I gotta say, I’m extremely happy I did! It was so amazing. My boyfriend and I both started off with the butternut squash soup(a special item) and eggplant chips. Both phenomenal. Even the garlic and butter bread they give you is amazingly addicting. I did the panko flounder with mashed sweet potatoes over pineapple. He went with the Hawaiian chicken. BOTHSOGOOD. Also ended with the mango egg rolls with ice cream as dessert. Perfect combo abc the mango egg rolls were perfectly crisp. The menu is so interesting and it took us forever to choose but are so happy with our choices. Atmosphere is very nice and cute. Service was great. Definitely am coming back soon to check out more dishes as well!

First of all, the coconut carrot ginger soup is the greatest soup in literally the world. When googling«Vietnamese» cuisine in the area for lunch, Mimi’s came up. When I checked out the menu, it said«asian fusion/american cuisine» which was sort of dissappointing. Although the lunch menu sounded good, it didn’t seem very creative. I had panko crusted shrimp and«steak fries» which looked like frozen thick french fries. The dinner menu looked a bit more diverse…(it also had chicken parm on it…) Long story short, the food was great, but if you’re looking for authentic asian cuisine, or like me and googling vietnamese cuisine, its… not.

Sorry they are gone. Mimi’s was, hands down, the best restaurant in Metuchen, a small town with a lot of restaurants. The menu is interesting, eclectic. A mix of Asian, European and American cuisines. The preparation is always excellent. The restaurant is clean, the ambiance soothing, and the staff friendly. We’ve eaten at Mimi’s many times, both by ourselves and with parties of up to 8 — we have never been disappointed, nor have our friends. This has become our«goto“restaurant when we want to be assured of an excellent relaxing meal.

It’s decent, but nothing to write home about. Service was good. The one thing I really liked was that the food that was supposed to be spicy, actually came out spicy… which was great and uncommon.

Mimi’s is a GREAT restaurant for Metuchen. Me and my friends went on a week night to try it out, and it was perfect. I couldn’t put my finger on what type of food it actually was? I’ve had Asian fusion before, and I’m not sure I’d call it that. Either way the food was AMAZING. The place was so quaint and the price was cheaper than regular restaurant prices for a beautiful entrée and LOTS of food.

There was a lot of interesting dishes here. If I looked closer and earned a bit more money, I think I would come more. I ordered the Hawaiian pork special at the recommendation of the server. It was ok. The pork was nicely fried, but I thought the sauce was overpowering. Needless to say… the other dishes seem promising. My friend ordered the buffalo wontons and they were pretty damn good. The prices are worth the portion and quality in my opinion and I will try this place again.

My boyfriend & I come here on a regular basis(mostly on rainy days) its just such a cozy place. The food is always consistent, homemade — delicious and warms the soul. It must be made with love! I cannot think of another reason that everything is always so delicious! Always start with soup! and then the coconut shrimp :) Miso salmon is my regular dish — but don’t be afraid to try the specials! Literally everything I have ever tried has been top notch. You cannot say that about most places these days! Thank you Mimi for always filling our tummy & leaving us feeling happy & satisfied!

First time here… the menu is a mix of Asian and American dishes. Ordered the buffalo chicken fried wontons as an appetizer which was actually interesting and pretty good. Also ordered the panko flounder sandwich, Hawaiian chicken and sesame seed coated salmon. They were ok nothing extraordinary. The service was good, waitress was nice and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. All in all a decent place to eat.

I went to Mimi’s on a rainy weekend in December to have lunch with a girlfriend of mine who I hadn’t seen in months. She’s a vegetarian, so I looked on Unilocal for a couple of veg-friendly places between where the two of us live. Mimi’s looked quite promising, so we decided a nice lunch there was in order. My friend arrived first and got us a nice table with bench seating on one side and regular chairs on the other(helpful as she had brought her adorable baby). For lunchtime on a Sunday, it was extremely quite. There was only one or two other tables being used the entire time we were there. This turned out to be a good thing since we took our time enjoying our meals and playing with my friend’s baby. After spending a few minutes looking over the menu, we decided to each get a prix fixe meal. We each got house salads with cilantro lime dressing as our opening salvo. For our starters, we both opted for the fried eggplant appetizer. I chose the miso salmon for my main course while my friend opted for the sesame tofu. We settled in and chit-chatted while our food was prepared. To be honest, I don’t know how long it took for our food to come out. I was having a particularly good conversation, so wasn’t paying much attention. It couldn’t have been more than a few minutes, but even if it was, the wait would have been worth it. Our salads were nicely chilled, but nothing extraordinary as far as salads go in terms of composition. The cilantro lime dressing, though, was quite tasty. I’m a big cilantro fan, and I do love the way it plays off the tang of the lime juice. It gave just enough life to the salad without being overwhelming. I could see using that dressing as a marinade for other things as well because of how yummy it was. We were then each brought a plate of breaded eggplant slices that had been deep fried to a golden brown color alongside a dish of tomato basil sauce. I am a pretty picky eater(yes, I firmly believe I can make darn near anything as well as, or better than, most restaurants), but if you bread and fry something, I am almost guaranteed to at least like it. While these were not the best fried eggplant I’ve ever had, they were perfectly fried — consistent color and crispiness with no burning — and the sauce was just the right blend of sweet and savory. Our entrees followed a short time later, and we were both quite pleased with our selections. Each plate came with a side of sesame noodles and cucumber salsa. My friend’s tofu was lightly fried and crusted with sesame seeds, making the outside crispy while the inside of soft and creamy. My salmon, which was a very nice-sized portion, was cooked just right. The miso glaze was just enough to bring out the flavor of the fish without over-powering it. Both of the side dishes were okay, although nothing to write home about. Overall, a lovely meal in a quiet but friendly restaurant. The food was definitely good, although a bit pricier than I would have expected for lunchtime meals. The only thing I wish for was more variety in the side dishes. Parking was a bit of a nuisance since street parking filled up very quickly. It was raining that day so the two block trek to a parking lot was not insurmountable but didn’t do my hair any favors. I can definitely see myself stopping back in to explore the rest of the menu the next time I’m in the area!

Showing some love for a restaurant in downtown Metuchen that(according to members of my family) needs some love. This was my first time here(on a Saturday night mind you) and the place wasn’t very packed. It wasn’t empty, but there certainly could have been more customers. Mimi’s bills itself as Contemporary South East Asian and American Cuisine. That is a mouthful, but you can certainly see it from the menu. Everything from Baked Lump Crab Cakes to Miso Salmon. Beef Burgundy to Banana Leaf Tilapia. The list goes on and on. The menu is pretty big and they also offer weekly specials(4 on this night). After being torn between a few menu items I ordered the Miso Salmon($ 19). The menu describes it as follows: Fresh salmon fillet topped with a savory miso glaze served with sesame noodles and our homemade spicy cucumber salsa. This is a pretty simple dish, but also one that can be screwed up very easily too. It is also a nice light dish which is something I was looking for. The fish was nice and moist. The noodles had a nice sauce and the cucumber salsa was perfect on a warm night. All in all a very good meal. There are some other interesting things on this menu and I hope one day to come back(I don’t live in these parts anymore, but still have family here) and dive in a bit more. Hopefully Mimi’s can keep their doors open. Metuchen is a tough restaurant town, but it seems like they have something unique going.

There is nothing like some good Asian Fusion food. Metuchen seems to be popping up with all sorts of cuisine from around the globe. When I grew up here, that wasn’t the case. You had Pizza, Chinese and Delis. Now there’s Vietnamese, Irish, Caribbean and who knows what else. The family settled on this place, which most have been to and the food was good. They have some American fare on the menu like meatloaf, burgers and ribs but I wanted what they were known for. So I had Miso Glazed Salmon with Asian Noodles and a cucumber salsa. They have a Banana Leaf wrapped Tilapia with Thai Spices that looked good and many other Pan Asian items. The places is sparsely decorated and a little drab in an olive but otherwise they were very accomodating and the food is worth the price. So if you happen to be making your way through Metuchen, or live there. Do stop in. You will enjoy it.
