Best place in town! Food is great. Service is great and atmosphere is great. So happy to have this place in Metuchen. Excited for many more great times at Haileys!

Sometimes emotion over rides the product at hand. I was bothered after my last visit where the manager didn’t honor a 5% discount. The Ploughman’s lunch had one sausage and one slice of bacon? A lunch meal fit for 5 year olds appetite. So small I went else where for a sandwich afterwards. At $ 8 I’m not going to throw a fit, but seriously? A shame because it actually tasted pretty good. Unilocal offers a 5% check in discount on food only. The Manager refused to honor the discount, so that would’ve been about 40 cents. Really dude? It’s not like the 40 cents would make or break me or this place, its just the insane mentality behind the irrationality that got under my skin. The place is a local over the top hang. I really nice selection of tap beer, cold. The food is ok to good, the Sheppard’s pie has both lamb & beef and is tasty, but far from spectacular, only speaking from my experience with Irish pubs. The prices are average and don’t expect a buy back, ever. As far as pubs go, they get the job done, but sometimes a simple warmer approach from management will go a long way.

One of my favorite pubs in the northeast and the best in New Jersey. Everyone here is very Friendly, great food, plenty to drink and try. Live music was really good last I time I was here(traditional). Couldn’t recommend it more. Try Hailey’s spring rolls or Drunk Irish potatoes for an app. Fish and chips are great too

If you want to find a hot date tonight, don’t come to this place. Make sure to make a reservation because boy does this place get packed full of townies. This is one of the only bars in Metuchen, and I question myself why did I choose to come here… I have no f’ing idea. Live music on Saturdays but only come if you want your ears to bleed. A typical Irish pub this is. Waited ten minutes to order a drink and when I finally did, the girl forgot about the order. It’s nice that they have a variety of martinis but, I only really liked the peach cobbler. Good luck on your drinking parade this evening!

There will never be another bar as good as this one. I can’t even go somewhere else without being slightly disappointed that it’s not Hailey’s. Plus, Mo who works there is really cute.

Wow! Wish I knew this Irish Pub was so close to my town. Driving through Metuchen we saw Hailey’s Harp and Pub and decided to give it a try. What a great decision. The food, drinks, and the hospitality of the crew was A+. I haven’t had anything there to eat that wasn’t great. They make perfect Cosmos. The owner Chris was there greeting his customers and making sure everything was ok for them. The prices are so reasonable. I couldn’t believe it. There is one thing I didn’t like about some of the reviews here on Unilocal. Many people said the service was slow. If it was slow, I didn’t notice it because I was having a great time. There is only one reason a pub like this is jammed packed and busy, That’s because its GOOD. If you haven’t tried this Pub yet get on the ball. You will be so pleased. Also it will get packed around 6pm. Get in there ASAP, get a seat, and relax.

Good food. Nice atmosphere. Good music. Ssslllooooowwww food service. Over an hour wait for the food. They said they had a crowd come in, but if you have the tables hire the staff. One star added for the reply. We ll give it another try soon.

Today was a birthday celebration for our dear friend, Dottie E. a local and regular patron of Hailey’s. We have been there a number times ourselves but had never met Chris the owner, who was very welcoming and gracious when we met him today. Our lunch was very tasty and we were not rushed or hurried which was so nice. Surroundings are fun. It was nice to sit near the flag of Co. Sligo where our family roots originated. In fact, we still have family there. Our Godson Kevin Patrick will be home for Christmas and we plan to bring him to Hailey’s for a celebratory drink to commemorate his 21st birthday. Something to look forward to.

It only takes one crummy experience to ruin a restaurant. Recently, I was in town for the holidays and stopped in at Hailey’s for a good ol’ reunion. I’ve been here a few times before, appreciating the place for its drink selection, decent bar food, and live music. On this occasion, though, we got all that and one more«bonus»: a waitress who was downright rude. We came in as a group of 5 and said we’d expect some more to trickle in. The waitstaff said this was fine, and seated us accordingly in an area with a lot of room. As more people filed in, though, she became annoyed at the size of our group and made little effort to mask her frustration or express it politely. I don’t have time for your passive-aggressive shtick, lady. Next, she kept asking if we wanted appetizers, even after we told her we just wanted drinks. Since when was it a requirement to order food at a bar? On top of that, after our first round, she asked if we needed anything else. We didn’t, at the moment – we all had drinks and some appetizers. Two minutes later, she slaps down a bill. Pretty much expecting us to close out. I’m sorry – you’re pushing us out of a restaurant for. What? This irritating lady then goes on to ask every 3 minutes if we’d paid yet … Which we hadn’t yet, because we’d had every intention of staying longer and ordering more, if it weren’t for this affront. What a nightmare of a person. Hailey’s is usually pretty cool. But while I have some patience for incompetent service, I have none for service that’s pushy, passive-aggressive, and unwelcoming. Your waitress’ behavior suggests that you don’t want my business … So that’s fine, I’ll just find a place that does.

Haileys is a great place mainly because it’s the only bar on Main Street in Metuchen. It is very convenient. They have a pretty solid drink and food menu. Other than that it smells like a wet mop and it’s ridiculously loud.

I have stopped in the Pub several times within the last year or so. Always had a good time. Bartenders are friendly and on the ball. That’s tough to find these days. Good vibe every time I’ve been here Had a great burger the last time I was here. Tonight was just a few beers and hanging with some regulars All and all a good stop.

I’ve gotten off the train after getting off the train, and eaten or had a couple drinks here on many occasions. This is now going to stop. I came off the train and needed to use the restroom, this little chic told me, only paying customers, btw, was actually considering at least getting a glass of white just to repay the kindness of allowing me to use the facilities before sorting down and ordering something… but nope. I shall not be going back in there ever again, I’ll spend my coin elsewhere, don’t think they’d give a damn anyways.

Very attentive staff and cute, cozy establishment. Hailey’s is now the sole bar in Metuchen(that I know of) and while neighboring cities such as New Brunswick and Edison may have more variety, Hailey’s is still a quaint spot to grab a drink or two and some Irish themed grub. Corned beef and cabbage is a delicious go to, but there’s also some more unconventional fare such as white wine steamed clams, French dip and a melody of themed burgers. There’s live music a couple times of week and karaōke on Tuesdays with a nice lil’ following. I have yet to see any ratchet behavior and locals and non-residents alike always seem to be having a good mature time. There’s a great selection of craft beers and many from local breweries. Well worth the stop if you’re in the area or looking for something casual and welcoming.

This pub has a great atmosphere and solid food and is a nice change from all of the chain restaurants in the surrounding area. We checked it out on a Monday night, so there was no wait at all. The place is actually pretty large and has a good number of TV screens but still manages to feel cozy at the same time. We ordered the French onion soup, fried pickles, buffalo wings, and shepherd’s pie to share. The shepherd’s pie was the standout — the portion was large and it was quite flavorful. The other dishes were good too, though I wish the French onion soup had more onions and the buffalo wings had more sauce. Overall a great place to just hang out and enjoy some comfort/bar food.

I was in town for the evening and decided to swing by this place for a meal. It’s a perfect location as it’s located right in the middle of downtown Metuchen and right outside of the train station. It has the look and feel of a typical Irish pub, though not rowdy as can be expected in most. Definitely had more of a local town feel to it, somewhere you can go grab a few drinks and then head out. I had a caesar salad to start and then had an order of the chicken murphy for main course. I certainly wasn’t expecting the salad of my life, but I also wasn’t expecting soggy lettuce on a small plate with a squirt of caesar dressing. The salad was pretty bad. I mean it was as if someone threw it together in ten seconds without even looking at it. It tasted exactly the way it looked. The chicken murphy however, was really good. After the salad, my expectations hit rock bottom. However this dish pretty much nailed it. Good flavors and a decent size portion. Highly recommended. The discrepancy between both meals was pretty stark. Granted it’s an Irish pub and you’re not going there to eat life changing salads, but there’s no way a salad should be leaving the kitchen in that state. Hopefully they change this sometime soon, or maybe this was just a one off. Otherwise it was a good experience and pretty cool pub.

We came in on a Saturday night as a party of 6, and even though we had a reservation, it took a long time to be seated. We moved over the bar while we waited for our table, and the bar had $ 5 drink specials– Guinness and whiskey drinks. I tried both, of course, and we got the night rolling. The wait was about 45 min and should have been less had the party at «our» table moved just a bit faster. Once seated our service was great and so was the food. When the bill arrived and we split the check and we paid about $ 30 per person. A good deal for a great meal, dessert and drinks.
