We were at Norm’s yesterday. Had the lobster grilled cheese and the lobster tacos. Both were outstanding, fresh, huge chunks of lobster! Really good food. The service was also great. Team approach, multiple people checked on us(fast/attentive without overdoing it… Which is a fine balance). Great place, highly recommend.

Absolutely the best seafood in the Merrimack Valley! The steamers are clean, sand free, white and sweet. Real butter too! The variety of entrees rivals any lobster shack on the coast, and I highly recommend the lobster roll and lobster tacos. The ambiance is fun, airy and bright! The service is spot on, friendly and knowledgable. This is where you want to be after work when you don’t want to cook, or gathered with family on the weekends watching your fav team! There’s a reason why this place has been the go to for over fifty years, it works.

The only reason We gave it 3 stars is because we stopped for dinner there tonight and the waiter asked if we wanted a refill on our Pepsi and we said yes. When the bill came we realized that it wasn’t free refills like most restaurants we have been to and added almost $ 8 to our bill. We really liked the food and the view of the river but REALLY, did they have to charge for a couple of refills on Pepsi ???

Went here with my wife last weekend. Great food and great service. From the outside it looks like a small house, but don’t let that turn you away because the place is unbelievable. We got the crab cakes, haddock luis, and scallops all were delicious. This is now our new go-to restaurant! !

This place is a pleasant surprise. Stopped in late one night with my Dad and we both were impressed by the atmosphere, cleanliness, service, and menu and beer offerings! We had the stuffed peppers and sweet potato fries off the late night menu and a local draft on tap from NH while sitting at the bar. Would definitely stop in again this summer if I’m passing by.

Ok, I do not give too many 5s, but this place is nailing it. Yes it is a casual place, but the seafood was the freshest I have had for a long time. The menu selections were pretty broad, from basic fried, to more sophisticated but not pretentious. Oh, yes their chouda is that good. Service was great If you are looking for where to go. this is it.

Don’t let the outside of the building intimidate you; inside there is a nice atmosphere, good food, and friendly service. What isn’t there to like? The service can be a tad slow sometimes, however.

Food was great, clams were incredible, service was friendly and kind. The boat ramp is invaluable, as a local boat owner as well. Plus, they always have good street sign messages.

Food was very good but the service was super slow. The inside is a lot better than the outside.

Solid food but not a great customer service experience. Ordered chicken parm and saw that you could substitute included fries for a soup for 1.50 extra. I opted for the seafood chowder not realizing it wasn’t included as a substitute(the waitress neglected to mention). Needless to say I was surprised when I was charged full price on the bill. Easiest thing for waitress to do would be to say that the chowder wasn’t a valid substitute. When I brought his up with servers they apologized but didn’t drop item from bill. Waitress never apologized at all. Seems strange to lose a customer over a clear mistake by the serving staff when service and food were otherwise pleasant.

LOVE this place. It’s my Mom and Dad’s favorite restaurant. Been coming here since I was a kid. Great atmosphere, great owner, great food. Love that you can sit by a window and look out at the Merrimack.

no frills, nothing to look at from the outside — would be easy to pass right back(as I did for many years) the inside looks over the merrimack river. chowder is unbelievably good… lobster roll, not so much.(i am fussy about my lobster rolls, and to be fair this really isn’t a place that you would order one– don’t get me wrong it was good, it just wasn’t great)

Food is really good, been here multiple times, but will never be back. I have never been so mistreated at a restaurant. Absolutely no customer service. This place will not last in today’s restaurant industry. So sad too because it’s the closest place to my house.

Was not expecting much, but turned out great. Was told the service was slow, but it was very good and had fun with the owner. Food was exactly what I was looking for. Great seafood chowder and steamers. Try not to be in the Andover area, but if I am I will go to Norm’s again.

Norm’s gets 5 stars for being one of the few places still in business since I worked in Andover for Hewlett Packard Medical across the river nearly 30 years ago(has it really been that long?). HP Medical is history, but Norm’s is still going strong. We would often go to Norm’s for lunch, a nice break from the corporate cafeteria. On a side note, another favorite hangout was Valle’s Steak house(River Rd) for Friday happy hour. Anyone remember Valle’s? Fun times.

My dad and boyfriend really like it here, and I always tag along with them. The food is surprisingly delicious, and we have not experienced the«slow» service a few reviewers have mentioned. My boyfriend always raves about the Turkey Chili. Drinks are nice and strong-but not too strong. I can’t believe how fresh and tastey the food is! It sure does look like a dive from the outside, but on the inside, its your neighborhood hang out, with good food, good service, and good vibes. The music is usually always playing, and the workers are all helping each other out. Looks like they are team players. This place is open late and gets really busy! Looks like a lot of locals come here and enjoy the chummy atmosphere too!

Pretentious bartender/manager even before I get my jacket off I’m «all set»; WTF does all does that mean? Please feel free to critique if you know. Whisky In Brandy sniffers, how gay is that? Anyway wanted to play the juke box waited for the Celtics to win asked her to please turn it on. «After the game»; «game is over» my reply; «yea I know that» answer. Some people just can’t except that Country music is soooo 1995, all hail rock n roll. Degenerated after that, can’t stand for people who lie when it’s obvious, how rude can one get? Not here in «southern» Mass but we’re all set.
