Very cute bakery with amazing cinnamon rolls. We went to grab a pan of the cinnamon rolls and decided to try their breakfast. It was good, but not an extensive menu by any means… so don’t go expecting a full service brunch restaurant.

I love coffee. Traveling and trying new coffee places is my thing. Came across Historic Grounds one day on Facebook, so I decided to drive there and check it out. Ordered an Ice Caramel Latte and it was the best one I’ve ever had. Then I tried their baked goods and fell in love with their chocolate revel bars. Now I come here every Wednesday afternoon for some coffee and a chocolate revel bar. They also sell artwork too! I’ve been looking at buying a few, once I have the wall space for them. Of the 14 or so coffee places I have tried, nothing has topped Historic Grounds!

It’s a step back in time that you will totally enjoy. Where you can leave your stress outside the front door and step into a very unique experience by yourself or even better with friends. To enjoy a cup of fresh coffee or tea if you please. But wait, you have to try a homemade bakery treat. On your way out stop and think who else can you make smile today and they would be happy to box up a few goodies to go!!! You’ll be glad you did. There lunches everyday are simple no corners cut here. Generous portions served with a smile. Make it a point to try and step back in time this week. You’ll be glad you did!

I stopped in to grab something for a friend today and grabbed a Latte as well… A. Because I love coffee B. Supporting a local business is awesome and C. The girl working was SO nice! I had her make ‘whatever latte she wanted…’ To try something new and it was awesome! An almond something… Tasted like cherries as well… I’ll definitely be back! This place rocks

Decent coffee, great baked goods, nice people and décor. My one complaint here is that they don’t really know anything about advanced coffee prep or drinks. No pour over here, and the Cappuccinos come out more like a caffe latte(lots of milk) as well. Order a straight coffee or a simple Vanilla Latte and you’ll be fine.

While visiting family in Metamora this summer I had the pleasure of visiting Historic Grounds on several occasions. It is a great addition to the village and while I am not a coffee drinker their iced tea was certainly a great accompaniment to some delicious pastries. The historic location adds to the great atmosphere. The staff was welcoming and friendly. History buffs will also enjoy the décor. Highly recommend it.

Historic Grounds is one of the few places I’ve ever reviewed that should get an extra star based on location and ambiance alone. I don’t really think it needs it, though. Somewhat surprisingly, I did *not* hear about this place on Unilocal.I needed to fuel up for a return trip to Chicago, and the mother-in-law suggested this new coffee shop near the courthouse in Metamora. So I was able to fuel up after all with a coconut frappé and two shots of espresso. This place would be the envy of any coffee shop up here in the western suburbs. Cozy, high ceilings, a bit of architecture, exposed brick walls, a generous seating area, free wifi(there’s only 2G data out here, folks), excellent and friendly service… what is there not to love? I ended up taking pictures of the shop all over just to get across how gorgeous the place is. The drinks were great, to boot. Good coconut syrup, strong shots and well-blended. My wife enjoyed her white chocolate latte as well. If you ever find yourself wanting to take a driving break with good coffee from an independent coffee shop just off Route 116… this is your spot.

Yay! It’s so nice to have a coffee shop in Metamora. Historic Grounds is located right in the square. They serve coffee, tea, smoothies, baked goods, and daily meal specials. The owner is really nice, enthusiastic about the business, and knowledgeable about the building history. The food and drinks are wonderful, and most everything is made in-house. The overall atmosphere is cozy, quaint, country vintage. Some coffee shops give a snooty vibe, but this place feels friendly. They also rent the space for parties and events, so this is definitely something to keep in mind for the future. I hope this shop is very successful and stays in Metamora for a long time!
