So I have returned a few times now and for nothing else but their donut holes! For $ 1.50 a dozen of plain or chocolate or mixed of the two flavors, I can overlook the not so attentive customer service. Today I ordered my donut holes, the girl got them, gave to me and then walked off to the back. Interesting. She didn’t take my money and I stood there confused. Is she coming back to give my money or should I leave with it lol. Just kidding. I wouldn’t take off without paying. Eventually after a couple mins of confusion, another person took my money. I have to admit, they have the best donut holes around as far as I have tried in the area. It’s not overly sweet. However their other donuts look super sweet with too much frosting on top. I like my donuts just simple and not too sweet. I’ll always be back for the donut holes.

Missed its mark… My mouth was watering from looking at all the scrumptious doughnut pictures posted here on Unilocal. But when I walked in to the store I was sadly unimpressed. The only doughnuts that were available were something that looked like it was made 3 weeks ago, and only about a dozen in the case. The service was mediocre. I mean someone did pop up to help me, but there were no doughnuts to really buy. I asked if they were making anymore and she said no and that’s all they had to offer. Mehh… don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon, or even at all…

do not eat the burgers here, got the 12 pack of the mini burgers w cheese and fries, burgers are not cooked on site, just microwaved and the fries tasted like greasy cold donuts… horrible. Lastly, they tried to overcharge me by $ 7 bucks, when I mentioned it, I got the«oh, sorry, never rung this up before». Steer clear, eat a diaper, you’ll be happier.

i can’t really compare this place to too many others because i’ve been going to sweet things as long as i can remember, but i do love them. the donuts are definitely much better than both tastee and krispy kreme, at least. the building is pink and quite noticeable. the parking is on the side, but there is a side entrance, as well as one in the front. there are tables both outside and inside for convenience and the ability to enjoy breakfast and/or coffee outside on a nice fall sunday morning. depending on what time you go, you may have to catch someone’s attention for service because they may be in the back making donuts, but i’ve never had a problem with them noticing me. service has been great, in my experience. if you do have any trouble, just give a friendly holler, and they’ll be right out. the staff is all super friendly. the prices are fair, if not cheap. they also have a punch card, so i think you’re 13th dozen is free! as i said, the donuts are great. if you can get them really fresh, then they’re even better, obviously. i know they put out fresh ones around 3:30am-4am, and then throughout the morning, but i’ll go late at night on occasion, and the donuts are still good. i’ve eaten their fries and mini(castle) burgers before, and both are good«drunk/munchie» type food. their apple fritters are huge, and apparently quite delicious, as that’s what my family normally orders. i stick to glazed, chocolate covered with sprinkles, or the apple filled glazed. all of them are really yummy! for october, they’re doing the pink ribbon donuts for $ 2, and half the proceeds are going to breast cancer research, which i think is great. it’s nice to see a small, local business do their part for a great cause. anyway, it’s a fantastic place. it’s conveniently located right at veterans and oaklawn, and they’re 24 hours, which is really awesome. i’ve stuck with them because they’ve always been a really consistent, great, local donut shop. it looks like they’re about to open a second location in new orleans too, so new orleans folks, look out! i definitely recommend this place!

I strictly came for the donuts. Overall, selection and diversity in the product was severely lacking. Nevertheless, the price was right and the donuts we did select had a great taste. Best part about this place is that they never close.

This place was better than expected! Not that we knew what to expect. Don’t turn away cause it’s pink, lol The service was great. And the donuts… They were Amazing!!! You have to try them, especially the speciality flavors. The banana pudding and peanut butter cup are to die for! We can’t wait to go back to see what else they come up with. This is definitely our favorite new donut spot. We also had the mini burgers, those were good as well. But seriously… You must try the donuts!!!

I’ve always passed this place up because of the for lease sign out front, but that’s for another space in the strip mall. Got delicious donuts!

I love this place! Maybe because it’s pink. Maybe because I used to go there for breakfast sometimes when I worked nearby. It’s so… homely. The breakfast stuff and food they have is simple and like something your mama would make. If your mom made you a quick breakfast. The prices are Great! Super inexpensive. The doughnuts are my favorite, of course. They have a really talented and artistic guy making them. He gets creative and makes some pretty doughnuts. They usually have fun ones for holidays and football games. The banana pudding one is great. And… the place is pink. With pretty sweet things. How can you resist?

Boy oh boy it had been too long since I’d been to Sweet Things’N’Grill! Like 8 years too long! But remembered those apple fritters like high school was yesterday! My SO and I were driving down Vets looking for somewhere to eat. Neither of us was hungry around 6:30 last Sunday eve, but we needed to eat so that we didn’t get too hungry too late. So we drove, and drove, and drove. Then we passed Sweet Things on the opposite side of Vets, and the memories of those apple fritters started to make my mouth water. I wasn’t sure if I wanted a burger there though, so we talked about it for a few seconds, then she said«You always say it’s soooo good, and I’ve never been, so let’s go!» «Well alright then…» We walked in to a nearly empty diner bar and were greeted by the only worker present(I can’t remember her name), who offered us some free croissants(she had slightly burned a batch, but not beyond a dark brown). We sat at the bar near the dessert case and perused the menu. After looking at the menu and the markerboard up on the wall with additional items, we settled on splitting 6 mini burgers and fries. After we ordered, the waitress/cook went to cook our and another patron’s meal, and we continued to look over the markerboard and it’s outrageously cheap prices. Breakfast plate: 2 eggs, sausage/bacon, toast/biscuit, grits/hashbrown — $ 5 1 dozen donut holes: $ 2 30 donut holes: $ 5 The list continues… Crazy cheap! We got our food a few minutes later and dug in. It wasn’t anything to blow you out of the water, but it was good. Not greasy, cooked well, good taste, and she threw in extra fries for us — awesomesauce! So then I just had to order an apple fritter — to go. And my SO, after asking if there were any donut holes left(there weren’t, apparently they sell fast on a Sunday), and asking about the different varieties of donuts, settled on a glazed cake donut — also to go. We were saving them for breakfast. BUT, we each had a taste of that apple fritter when we got to the car. For me, it was everything I remembered and more! She just looked at me and said«I’m glad I didn’t order that, I wouldn’t be able to stop eating it. I would die.» We agreed that it was like fried and glazed apple king cake. Yes, you read that correctly. It is amazing. Get it. Get the apple fritter. Trust me.

Avoid this place at all costs. Food is flavorless and overpriced for what it is. The service is even worse. The lady working there couldn’t give half a shit about about any of the customers. They had no dressings for anything so I had a dry burger on dry hard bun, with a single pickle slice on it. The other guy«working» there seemed quote annoyed with anyone asking him anything and the only customers that didn’t seem displeased were old fat Metairie met that were claiming to «be getin out of the heat». Just don’t go here an hope they don’t get any money out of anyone else.

I used to love this place, but a lot has changed since it has a new location. The service is bad — well only Sue provided decent service — there was a man there that was horrible to everyone. But usually you could get fresh donuts at night — now the donuts are not fresh until around 7am. And breakfast/food — not good at all. The donuts are still okay. If you like to gamble there is a gaming machine. Randomness of Louisiana.

When you want a big ass cheap 24hr drunk burger there is just no other place. Better than any fast food like AtomBurger but not up to Phills Grill level. For $ 7.25 you can get a dbl cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink!!! Poppers and doughnuts are good too

I bought donuts and they were just ok, I didn’t try breakfast and I’m not so sure I will. Their new location is very nice and clean but i’ll stick with Blue Dot donuts.

Ew. The bf had been bothering me to go with him to this place because he liked the old fashioned look of it, so, although I knew better, I finally relented and we dropped in for«brunch» on Sunday. WHATTHEHELL. The dining room consists of two counters, set up in a right angle, and there are maybe 10 seats total. This is a set up that usually meets with my approval, but at Sweet Things, be prepared for the«I’m a regular in fact I actually live here because I have no life except for doughnuts and idle chatter with the weird lady that works here» oogling. The menu consists of the following items: 1) doughnuts, 2) kastleburgers, 3) regular burgers, 4) chicken fingers. There are also a few appetizers, like poppers and, ummm, chicken fingers or something. We ordered a jelly doughnut(I think they’re gross by virtue of existing but the bf loves them), poppers, and 3 kastleburgers w/fries each. The lady and the people on the other side of the counter stared at us the whole time we ate. Awkward does not begin to describe the experience. I also never fully appreciate the commentary from the help, the waitress/doughnut wench in this case, whom we had to summon from her 15-minute long smoke and talking break from talking, to the effect that she didn’t think we could eat all that… Sorry, Sweet Things. I could have loved ye, but, alas I most decidedly DONOT.
