Would NOT recommend if you are African American. The Manager/Owner greets everyone except me walks past my table & looks the other way. The food was decent & the server was nice. I would never come back bc had I known this place was racist I would’ve never patronized it. I’m soo glad I’m from California where we see NO Color lines.#MeltingPotIsMyHome

Of the Sake Cafes, this one ranks second. This location did not have brown rice as an option for their sushi. The also do not have the tuna cake appetizer that the uptown location does. One plus though is that the service seemed to be quicker than the other locations. There is also plenty of parking in the parking lot.

Man aw man the kids teriyaki was gross. It was like a sweet mess. My daughter hated it. The vegetables was also in the sweet sauce. The rice was mushy and salty. A total waste of money. If i didnt live far away i would have returned it. I dont believe anyone eats this stuff. She did like the fruit everything else was a bust! We threw it in the trash

I use to love this place but honestly will never go back. The pepper shaker had LIVE bugs in it. Pointed it out to the waitress and she laughed and brought a new one from another table. It was so disgusting. I couldn’t enjoy my meal after this. It was so freaking gross. This memory will haunt me forever I should have taken a picture but once I pointed it out to my girlfriend we just we so sickened. Sorry Sake, I will forever refuse to be a customer.

This is my typical«I want sushi for lunch but don’t feel like putting thought into where to go» restaurant. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this place in my opinion. The décor is nice, the food is fine, and prices are typical. There is just nothing that is special about the place or the food. If my boyfriend and I are going to dinner we will probably pick a different place to satisfy our sushi craving. If I’m going to lunch with my sister or a friend then I will absolutely come here! I like the 2 rolls with a soup or salad lunch deal.

If I lived here I would Sake café all the time. Visiting my long time best friend, we stopped here on my first night down. Who doesn’t enjoy catching up while sharing some good sushi? We ordered hot sake and split the assorted roll deal. The deal your choice of three rolls with one order of soup and salad for only $ 14. A steal. We added another soup and salad to the order and left very happy and full. We picked the crunchy roll, spicy tuna, and salmon avocado — all of which were delicious. Our waitress recommended the special rolls to us but those were about the same price as the assorted dinner which was a deal I couldn’t pass up. I like my sushi more simple anyways. Our waitress, by the way, was A++ She was so cute and genuinely friendly. She definitely added to the experience The atmosphere is nothing special. Its too large and the decorating isn’t doing anything for them, but this doesn’t really bother me. I’d describe it more as a lunch spot than a dinner spot by the environment If you’re looking for good cheap and casual sushi spot to go with friends, this is the place to go:)

You can’t beat their lunch special for 2 rolls and a soup or salad. Best part is its offered 7 days a week and not just work week days. I’ve ordered take out here and it’s always consistent and my order is right. Everything taste fresh

This location is gorgeous inside! I love the set up in here. Same menu & pricing as other location but I was blown away when I walked inside. Very nice.

When an owner drowns in greed, staff and customers pay the price. It was bound to happen. The food quality continued to drop every year.

I have been eating at Sake Café since I was in middle school and I LOVED eating here. But as I gotten older the past few years, Sake wasn’t as good anymore. Although it wasn’t as good as before I still came here to eat and also my sister works here so she pay for my meals sometimes(LOL)!! So today my sister left her wallet and home so she texted me asking if I can bring her wallet to her workplace and she would give me a free meal. Of course, I was going for the free meal and I brought my cousin along. As I arrived, I was seated down by the sushi bar and our waitress asked what drinks we want, then the sushi chef gave us a complimentary raw seafood salad or something like that. The raw fish were fresh and yummy. Then our main entrée came. We ordered the snow crab naruto, rice paper roll and baked salmon. Everything was fresh and good. We ate everything! I think Sake Café has redeemed itself and I will be coming back.

My favorite Japanese place! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, always ready to customize your meal, and an excellent array of mixed drinks. If you enjoy sake stop in for that, too. The bar is spacious and bookends by two mounted flat screen tvs. if you request they will cut your rolls into smaller pieces and substitute soy paper for seaweed wrap if you prefer that. I have been coming here for 10 years and have never had an issue with the service or the quality of my food. I will admit I worked here for maybe 4 months sometime in ’06 and that I still come in on a more than regular basis speaks very highly of the place(as any server will tell you). Parking is never a problem.

I use dine at this place and would go on weekly basis. However, recently I had over 200 $ Stolen out of wallet sitting at the bar area with the bartender Frank. I called and asked to see if the cameras could be reviewed and conveniently they aren’t working that night. Sounds suspicious to me, someone is covering up for someone else. It is to my disappointment this restaurant does not have any integrity or honor for its customers or their belongings. Please take your business and money elsewhere.

First and last time coming here! Honestly was a waste of my 50 bucks. First off, the service was something else. We first had a waitress that took our drink orders and I don’t know if she didn’t understand English much or what but my friend was asking how the fruit punch was since she said it was homemade and she just wouldn’t answer the question, instead she would suggest rootbeer and other soft drinks. The«homemade» fruit punch tasted exactly like the minute maid fruit punch in the carton from Walmart… Then a waiter came out to serve us, he seemed a little unfriendly. He didn’t smile not once nor did he greet us. My friend and I were having a conversation and all of a sudden I hear slamming of the plates on our table and just thought that was just rude. I also was having a hard time trying to get ANY of the 2 servers attention for some spicy mayo. Our waiter disappeared after slamming our food onto the table and I tried to get the waitress’s attention but she just walked right passed and ignored me. On to the food, we ordered calamari, Gyoza pineapple fried rice, rock n roll, and volcano roll. Calamari, volcano roll and Gyoza were okay. The pineapple fried rice was flavorless and the pineapples were dry. I did not like it at all. I tried to see if it were to taste better with soy sauce but nope! For the rock n roll, my friend was eating it and he spit it right out saying that the shrimp wasn’t cooked all the way because he notice it was still grey-ish(he goes fishing often so he can tell between a undone shrimp and a fully cooked shrimp). The star was for the décor and how the place looked it really kept me interested. But other than that, will not be returning to this location!

Had a late dinner here today. Got the tempura udon and the unagi don. Udon soup stock was a little salty but the udon was good, thick and juicy. The tempura was fried just right. But they made a grave mistake with the unagi don. Forget about the fact that the unagi was smothered in sauce, masking the quality of the fish. The grave mistake has to do with how the rice was prepared. Who the hell uses long grain rice in their unagi don. It’s like putting the fish on minute-rice. Dry, hard to chew, not cooked enough rice. Just turrible. But the pickle on the unagi don was made perfectly. 2 stars.

Going on a sushi restaurant review tonight so I have to review my LEAST favorite sushi place in New Orleans. I worked here for about a year so I have an inside scoop to the owners, management and the waitstaff. I won’t comment on the disorganization of that place except to say that the owners are known slave drivers. Everyone is expected to work 40 hours. More if you’re full-time. And since you’re in the service industry, they didn’t give us overtime. My advice? Avoid at all cost. Saying the food is mediocre would be generous. Portions are smaller than average, have less ingredients and rolls average $ 1 more than other places. Kitchen food is either bland and greasy or bland and very dry. However, their happy hour menu is pretty extensive. There’s a good selection of rolls in there and you can always down it with some sake to forget about the grocery store-esque sushi you just consumed. Yes, I did just compare their sushi to a grocery store. And yes, I have had better sushi at Winn-Dixie and Breaux Mart. Hands down, Whole Foods and Rouses serves a much better product than this place. So come for the atmosphere but know that they’re raping that wallet of yours. And your intelligence for passing this off as good Japanese.

All in all, a pretty solid Japanese meal. Nothing blew me away, but everything was good. Actually, I take that back, the Veggie Tempura app was really good. The clear soup, and three rolls I had with the Roll Combo meal were nothing crazy, but good enough to get me to come back again when sushi sounds good. I just had a Shrimp & Avacado, Spicy Salmon, and Crunch Roll, so they are basic, but they were good.

I frequently come to this place for a few reasons 1) it’s close to we’re I live 2) I have become a regular and thus get freebies here and there from the manager and 3) their happy hour is an extremely good deal(this has become the reason for 1&2). Happy hour is 3−6pm everyday with a select menu. Large sake is $ 4, large beers are $ 3 and the sushi rolls are $ 2.99 per roll. Also, there are appetizers that are also great on the happy hour menu(ex: the veggie tempura). The food here may not be the«best» sushi you have ever had in your life but the quality is always consistent and like I said, the price is definitely right if your frequenting during happy hour. Also, if you make friends with Frank and Ken(the managers) you are sure to get great service every time and maybe an occasional free sake bomb here and there :-)
