I’ve been there three times recently. Tried a soup and sandwich combo with the French Onion, Tomato Basil and the Cream of Wild Mushroom each on subsequent visits. All three were excellent with a special nod to the Cream of Wild Mushroom

It’s consistently great! Friendly staff especially at the to-go counter where I typically will have the chicken la madeline, Caesar salad with chicken, or the duet! Best sandwich is the Chicken Parisisn! Best soup is the country potato! I tried to cook the chicken with the Rosemary seasoning that they sell, and totally failed. So — I’ll leave it up to the experts! Convenient to-go parking too! Lots of low calorie options and breakfast items all day!!!

I come to this location once a month to have brunch with my uncle and my dad. I’ve never had a meal here that I didn’t enjoy(the payella(spelling?) is my favorite), and the three of us can order a full meal at a very reasonable price. Everything is delicious! My dad and his brother come here every weekend to have free coffee and toast(old folks, what can I say, they love a bargain) I wish I lived closer and I’d join them more often!!! The only reason I didn’t give this particular store 5 stars was because this location does tend to be very busy, and I’ve sometimes had trouble getting someone to clean a table for us to eat at. They may want to hire a bit more help for those busy days.

Coffee cold came at 4:45 to have coffee and sit outside. Several people complained about cold coffee the older woman behind register did not seem concerned she did nothing. A customer told me to go to the pastry area and they would warm the coffee which they did and were nice about it. As far as the lady behind the register she could have cared less. I don’t think I will be coming back there are too many other coffee shops where coffee is hot.

Stopped here for some breakfast to go on my day off to share with the moms. They were fast and friendly at the register, which is always great. The quiches(I got both Lorraine and Florentine) looked and tasted great. My side of bacon was nicely cooked, toeing the line between chewy and crispy. All good pros. Now for the cons: Their machine was down, so I was limited to regular coffee instead of espresso or latte, which isn’t the worst thing ever. However, the side of fruit salad I bought had seen better days. The honeydew and watermelon were starting to break down and looking translucent at the edges, and had subsequently lost the majority of its flavor. I ate a few pieces and threw the rest away. I was a little bummed, but not totally surprised because it’s a chain. Was it great? Not really. Was it serviceable, considering the amount I paid? Sure. Will I go back? Probably, but only out of sheer convenience. I live down the street. So there’s that.

I ventured out to this suburban location for a change of scenery from the New Orleans CBD. The seating area is much more expansive at this locale than at the Riverbend location, but consequently, the noise factor at the peak lunchtime hour is higher also. For some unknown reason, there was only one server preparing salads, and the waiting line included fifteen people waiting to be served. My patience paid off because the Roasted Vegetable Salad with Grilled Chicken, Pecans, Crumbled Bacon and Goat Cheese was well worth the wait.

I have romanticized La Madeleine as long as I’ve been coming to Louisiana. When I was 16 and paid for my own plane ticket to visit my older sister who lived here, this was one of the places she treated me to breakfast. Not this specific location, but this chain. So, it means independence. The thrill of feeling like an adult. I do enjoy the food, and haven’t had anything that I don’t like. The pastries are delightful. The quiche is hot and yummy. The home-like feeling fills me with a wholesomeness and a thrill. The wait staff is all right. The restrooms are clean. It could stand a deep cleaning.

3.5 stars. Paying more than $ 4 for a ladle of soup is a bit much, but I had to have it seeing how it’s their famous tomato bisque. It’s got a good thick texture from the roughly pureed tomatoes and cream, but the flavor is still a touch too tart for me. Hubs got the potato galette, which is like a small disk of well fried hash brown with some herbs and cheese mixed in. It was very good, and half the cost of my dish. Service was great at this location. Everyone was super friendly, and I think that 2 – 3 employees talked to us within the first 5 minutes that we were standing there looking at the menu. It was not obtrusive in the least… they sort of passed by and made funny comments like, «There are no calories in our menu!» I’ve never been a fan of La Madeleine before, but I would consider visiting more whenever there is one nearby. There are a lot of other interesting items on the menu that I’d like to try like their strawberry dish.

I went here tonight with the kiddo for dinner. I’ve been wanting to go for some time, but I’m glad I got paid today it was a little pricey… when we try a new restaurant, we usually get a couple samplings of everything and tonight was no exception. I had gone in with a plan of attack already, I knew what I was going to order for my entrée — custom omelet, it was what I was in the mood for, I also opted to order the potato galette, that is not a mistake I will ever make again. Perhaps it was the late hour, but they forgot to include it with my order and the kiddo went to go get it for me and when she brought it, it looked like someone had run over it with a car and threw it in a deep fryer and then threw it on the grill for some extra texture? Maybe? It was greasy, burned and completely unappetizing, the manager had no problem refunding my cash for that… YEA! The kiddo opted for the Baked French Toast and though the picture on the menu showed it coming with a side of eggs and bacon which she did not receive, but it didn’t matter, we had so much other food. I ordered two small tarts one lemon and one chocolate, though they were ok, I would not order them again, they were not memorable enough to be savored again. We both ordered a soup, tomato basil for her and potato for me, the tomato basil was far superior to the potato soup. The potato soup was grainy and lacked any real flavor, it was kind of like warm milk. I tried adding some butter and salt for a little oomph, but it did not save it. We also ordered a grilled cheese to split with the soup and that was surprisingly good and gooey and really crispy, a real standout, I would order that again. The kiddo liked her French toast, it came covered with a fresh fruit array of strawberries, blueberries and mandarin orange slices. She removed them from her toast and we munched on them on the side. The strawberries were outstanding and sooo fresh. If you have ever read any of my reviews you know I’m long winded and I don’t care for«soggy» food and her French Toast, while quite crisp on the outside, the inside was a little soggy for me. The kiddo agreed about halfway through her dinner, but also lamented that though it was a tad too soggy for her too, the flavor made up for that, she was surprised and delighted by the«hidden» raisins in the toast.(I knew they were there, I saw it on the menu). In addition to all of this, the kiddo begged for a piece of cheesecake(it’s still down in the fridge) so I cannot review that, but it looks amazing. They also have a complimentary bread station that has about 6 different offerings in bread, REAL butter and jam as well, had I known this, I would not have opted to order the extra croissant I did so I would have something to go with my soup, since they do not have crackers, no matter, the croissant was flaky and buttery and an excellent choice to go with the soup. I don’t really understand all the poor reviews for service, as we were treated well by the bar attendants, manager, cashier and food runner, though I am not sure a tip was required, we still left one anyway, our food runner was a very personable fellow who had worked for La Madeleine’s for more than seventeen years. I liked him immediately. The kiddo and I have both said we were not adverse to going back, but I did tell her we were going to have to edit our choices next time, I was a little shocked at a $ 51 dinner bill at a bakery.

This is my significant other’s favorite restaurant. He always gets the Duet Magnifique with the Chicken Parisian sandwich, basil pesto pasta and Caesar salad. I love their basil pesto pasta! So delicious. At this location, service is always good but for some reason, when they bring out our order, they always forget something. It’s inevitable, every time we come here. My recommendation would be to just double check your order, all the components, and make sure you got every part. They GLADLY bring out the missing part quickly with no fuss. Great service, friendly staff, clean environment!

got here too early to really order anything other than what was already there. OMG this place is filled with some scrumptious euro foods, and fancy desserts. I had quiche, which was tasty, and a lovely small fruit tart that was delicious. good coffee, and potato cake as well. los of elderly folks in here and quiet and nice.

Wow what poor food quality and service. Every time we come here the lids meals are the last meals to come out. Everyone at the table ate all their food before a simple kids meal crêpe came. The same thing happened last visit, but with a grilled cheese. The excuse. A new chef… In addition the steamed broccoli tasted like dishwasher water. When the food finally came, the so called manager who had just came is from smoking and didn’t even wash her hands prior to getting the crêpe off the food line, brought it to the table and reached across my face, which almost made me want to vomit. Who else has had this poor service and poor quality or experience. $ 70 dinner that we couldn’t even enjoy as a family. I vow to never eat here again P. S. I Unilocal would not allow me to put less than 1 star Definitely Not KIDFRIENDLY since the kids meals always come last to the table.

Service at this location is normally fast and easy. I always keep it simple and get the chicken Caesar salad along with the country potato soup. I’m quite a regular here and I must say that there isn’t ever a time that my food tasted any different from the last — which is a good thing. Seating arrangement is roomy, there is also the outside patio which is great for a beautiful day.

I’ve never felt compelled to write a review for anything before until I came here. The food was good, but that’s a known fact about this café. But the service is the reason why this place gets my first review ever. I’ve never been here so the set up was new to me. But the first person I came across was super helpful behind the counter, ready to explain what each item was and didn’t feel annoyed by all my(probably super silly) questions. The next person and the main reason for my review was the waiter. He made the experience! He was beyond helpful. He even went out of his way to surprise my friends and I with those free pastry receipts only because it was our first time there. And when I went to go tip him he was so surprised that he was receiving anything. But he deserved it! And more if I had more to give. Loved this place. Never been so satisfied and happy with any place I’ve gone to. Everyone should check it out and I hope you all get the waiter I got!

Wife changed my view on Salad’s & French food. For the longest i mostly eat Meat & potato type meals, greens would mostly be either broccoli or green beans. I would eat the occasional salad as long as they had bunch of non healthy stuff. I got the Chicken Caesar Salad and that is now my favorite and i loved it. I tasted a couple things my wife had when she wasn’t looking and they were all very good, Everything i tasted was great, except anything with horseradish Everyone there is super nice and very helpful You get your monies worth and feel good about what you eat.

My wife and I tried this place for lunch and we loved it! You walk in and immediately see all the delicious looking pastries on display. Then, when you remember you came here for a somewhat healthy lunch, you can grab a tray to proceed down the line(grab a menu first if you don’t know what you want to order) the first station is the special salads where you get things like a Chicken Caesar salad, etc.(if you get a caesar salad as a side with your sandwich then no need to stop here). Then comes the hot sandwiches/soup station(and finally you order any other food items(like the chicken salade croissant at the register). You pay for your meal and they give you a number to have your food delivered to your table(drinks are not delivered you get your own fountain drink if you choose to pay for a drink). To the side of the fountain drinks there is a complimentary bread station with butter and jelly as well. I decided to order the infamous the Chicken salade croissant(delicious) w/a side of tomato basil soup and caesar salad, my wife had the Turkey & Brie sandwich with a side caesar salad… They were both fantastic! We even tried the potato galette and it was extremely tasty. We only wish we had saved room for dessert! The ambience is very rustic and appealing to the senses. The atmosphere at lunch was very inviting… good flow of traffic and nothing overwhelming, both the customers and employee’s had an excellent vibe. We made sure to leave a tip for the food server/bus person even though it was limited service. We will be back!!!

It’s close to my office so I find myself here fairly often. The fact that you can order online and then pick up in-store is appealing. Sometimes I just don’t want to deal with people, you know? The best way I can describe La Madeleine’s to people not from around here is that it’s like Panera, but French-ier. So instead of soup you get soupe and instead of salad you order a salade. Lots of extra E’s on things. Calorie and nutritional information is available for just about everything. There are lunch specials which are reasonable and plenty of vegetarian options as well. Fresh baked breads and pastries(think tarts and cakes and cookies) and even a small wine selection. If you dine in, be sure to leave a buck or two at the table for the guy clearing away your dirty dishes.

Well, the first time you go, ordering is like solving a puzzle. You order some things, here, some things there… I like the soup and the sandwiches. Very good. I know the soup is bagged, but I like the potato the best. Lately the service has taken a down turn. Today was horrible. The at the register was actually yelling across the restaurant and shouting at us as we ordered. «DOYOUWANTDRINKS!?» The deserts… hit or miss, the coffee is a winner.

Chicken Salad Croissant! That is all I have to say. I am addicted to their sandwich. I tried a holiday sandwich the last time I went, but the chicken salad croissant is my favorite. I went the first time with my friends and had no idea what to do. The whole process of ordering your food makes me feel like I’m back in preschool/middle school. The menus are placed right before you get in line to order. There is a brunch menu and a regular meal menu. Did I forget to mention the dessert display is the first thing you see walking in? It’s like they know I have the worst sweet cravings and always like to check out what’s for dessert before I even eat. Anyways you pick up a tray and you’re ready to go! There’s a salad island first and I’d recommend a bowl of the strawberry romanoff. Yum! There’s some pies and small sandwiches as you move along and lastly the soups. You order when you get to the cashier and they hand you this spoon on a block with a letter or number. Pick a seat and wait for them to bring you your food! It’s a bit pricey for lunch, but worth every penny to me. You have the option of chips or the pasta salad with specific meals. I’m stuffed by the time I’m finished, so no complaints from me about it not being enough.
