I’ve been a customer here for years and I’ve never had a problem. Consistently good food and polite waiters. At times its surprisingly empty but don’t let that turn you off– the food is really good!

Service is always good. Food is well priced and portioned. The ambiance is trendy and new age, especially compared to Chinese places in the area. The bar area is nice and the business lunch is a good for a quick bite. The liquor and wine selection is wide. Try the orange beef or the filet mignon with the red wine reduction.

Café East is my favorite Chinese restaurant. I always get the Kung pao and chicken fire pot soup and my gf gets orange chicken. They offer a big selection of different dishes and also have a lunch special. The meat is great quality, not the weird stringy meat you find at cheap places. The portions are big too. I highly recommend going.

I finally ordered take-out from Café East, and it was delicious! I got the szechuan dumplings and szechuan shrimp. Sauce on the dumplings was so good, and very different than anything I’ve had at a Chinese restaurant before. The Shrimp were super spicy(just how I like them) and there were at least 12 good sized shrimp perfectly cleaned. I found the prices to be slightly less than Young’s in Kenner, and the food was so much better! I can’t wait to try something new next week! Also, they offered without me asking if I’d like them to hold off on putting in my order since I was driving from 25 minutes away. Great customer service.

Long black hair fried in the batter of my chicken. The restaurant was empty at 12:00 lunch time. Now I see why. I was still charged for the meal.

I’ve been to Café East many times for lunch. Their lunch special is a great value with choice s small appetizer, entrée and rice for 8.95. We went for dinner last night and enjoyed it. The place is clean and modern and the food is solid. We had appetizers of chicken gyoza and goat cheese gyoza. Both were crispy and tasty, good but not great. Our group then shared the Szechaun shrimp, sesame chicken, and red curry beef. All were good, fresh and ample. The sesame chicken was sweeter than normal, a bit more like orange chicken but it was good. The brown rice was cooked perfectly. Service was very good. A solid Chinese offering.

This place is decent but food seems to be loaded with too much sodium or something. Food not sitting right with me or my wife. We got the garlic chicken and beef. Don’t plan on going back.

The best kimchi in New Orleans. Also, the tofu eggplant and garlic sauce is wonderful vegetation option. The service is always quick and friendly. Very reasonable prices too.

The business lunch special here is really great. You get a choice of small appetizers, 1 of about 15 different main dishes(very wide selection), and then a rice to go with your main dish, all for about $ 9(with tax & tip it came to $ 12, still a great deal). The restaurant was also not very crowded at about lunchtime on a weekday, so there wasn’t a wait for a table for our party of 6. The food was good, but not fantastic, and kind of predictable Chinese food, but I enjoyed finding another decent stand-by just in case I ever find myself needing this kind of food in this part of town again.

Ordered delivery the other night and it was awesome. Super fresh and hot. We got the crawfish spring rolls, good but not much crawfish. General Tsaos chicken and Schezan(sp?) Shrimp, which were both very good.

We had this a few weeks ago, and I gotta say: I was not impressed. Especially since i was trying to convert some coworkers to their food. The orange chicken — well, there was no orange flavor. The sauce was salty, and the breading was so much that when we removed the breading, the piece of chicken was about the size of a quarter. I miss the old manager liz — the food seemed better when she was there.

Visited this place for a business lunch which worked out pretty well since there is a parking lot and it seems like a predictable menu/atmosphere. However, predictable is not my thing. This place doesn’t have much character and neither does the food. The quality of the food was average. I order scallops which I didn’t realize would be battered and thin. The dish was a surf and turf deal that had red meat as well. This meat was the typical wimpy, sauce covered stuff you get in most unadventurous Chinese restaurants. I’m sure there is a need for some folks to have this type of place in Metairie, but I’m just not feeling it personally.

This place always has parking. It’s decent food, but a bit pricey for not being anything special. Whenever I go here, I try something new but it always seems to fall short. On the other hand, The people, building, and atmosphere are wonderful. You can definitely have N enjoyable experience here. Even if their type of food isn’t your favorite.

We got take out, so I can’t speak to the ambiance, but I can definitely say that the food was generous for the price and very tasty. There were 8 of us, so we tried a little bit of everything, lucky you! Heres what we ordered: *Ginger duck — far and away the best entrée we had. The sauce was so flavorful, and the duck was prepared well. *Ginger Shrimp and Scallops — Surprisingly not the same sauce as the duck, a little thinner. Tasty, but the scallops were kinda small. Shrimp were nice and overall tasty dish. *Pork fried rice — tasty stuff! *String beans — Very crisp and in a garlic sauce. I really liked this with the other entrees we had. *Egg rolls — pretty standard stuff. Not as crisp as I usually like the cabbage, but good flavor *Lettuce wraps — I was surprised it isn’t a chicken filling, but a beef. Not as good as PF Chang’s but that is a pretty high benchmark in my opinion! *General Tso Chicken — I didn’t personally try this, but I’m told it was very good. Big pieces of white meat chicken. *Mongolian beef — again, I didn’t try it, but it looked quite tasty. Big pieces of beef and broccoli. Would definitely eat here again.

Unlike most sketchy Chinese places around, this place is spacious, modern, and clean. There is a large bar when you enter. I might have to check out their drink menu some time. I got take out so I cant comment on service. Prices were high for Chinese food, although you did get enough for 2 in one dish. I got General Tso’s Chicken. I appreciate that they use only white meat. No mystery meat here. The sauce was more sweet and sour than other General Tso’s I’ve had. It wasn’t at all spicy. The chicken was overcooked leaving a tough outer layer and although it was breaded it was not at all crispy. I wouldn’t order it again but I would give this place another try.

Just enjoyed a lunch at Café East with some locals who love Café East for an easy and fast workday lunch. We got the Business Lunch where you choose a spring roll or crab rangoon for an appetier and then one of probably 10 options for your entrée. I had the Sesame Chicken and it was very good. You also get to choose from white, brown or fried rice with your entrée. Reasonably priced, very clean restaurant and our server was great.

Before I went to Café East, I always wondered if they were open for business because the parking lot always had either a few cars in it, or it was totally empty. One Saturday, my family and I decided to check it out for dinner. We went in and it was VERY nice! I just didn’t understand why such a nice restaurant with a very nice bar & top shelf alcohol was empty. There were even a couple awards on the wall rating it as one of Gambit’s Top Restaurants. When we walked in, there was only one couple in this empty restaurant and my family. Our waiter was very friendly and provided us with great service. The food was very good. So good that I went back a few times for takeout(and even on those occasions it was empty). We ordered a combination rice, shrimp and broccoli, egg rolls, and crab Rangoon. Everything was great. I had no complaints about this place. In fact, I was pleased that the restaurant was empty because I didn’t have to worry if my toddler decided to act up a bit. Maybe there is a huge lunch crowd or they have lots of parties, because I can’t understand why this nice, large restaurant with good food always seem to be empty.
