Loving the new(well new to me) renovations. Walking/fishing pier, re-paved boat launch, additional lighting, directional signs. This has looooooooooong been a go to «think place for me». Not sure of the hours of operation, but whenever I go, day, night, midnight, wee-hours of the morning, it’s open, HOO-RAH… I’ve seen lots of activity here from the mundane to the not so mundane; it’s all good though, never anything criminal or alarming. I feel relaxed when I go here; guess that’s why I continue to visit. The mood here is CHILL, Live & Let live. Great place to check out. It’s like an oasis in the middle of no-where.

The dog park here is often overrun by large breeds which is difficult for those of us with small dogs. There’s often a large Doberman that instigates fights with the other patrons dogs. I much prefer the dog parks of lafreniere since there are separate areas for small and large dogs alike. It was much prettier before Katrina… Where have all the trees gone?

I go here a lot. I have started a jogging routine, and they have paths that set off in both directions from the main parking lot, one that goes along the lake and is straight and level, and a new path that goes under the causeway and has some small hills. My dog is my jogging partner, and after our morning/afternoon/evening runs, we go to the dog park. As noted in other reviews, there is a water fountain for the dogs, and bags are provided. There are also a few trick/exercise elements(a tunnel, an adjustable jumping fence). All sizes of dogs and breeds come to the park, so keep this in mind if you’re worried about a smaller dog getting hurt by a bigger dog. There have been times where people have brought aggressive dogs to the park. However, there is also a core group of people who are there most evenings, talking and sitting and enjoying each other’s company. There is also a smaller group of people who are there in the mornings, less lively but nice to talk to. It’s a great place to socialize for a few minutes and let the dogs run free.

This is usually a pretty good boat launch. Only two of the launches were available today, but it wasn’t busy so it didn’t matter. We didn’t have to wait to launch the boat. There were people all over at the dog park, under the gazebo, even throwing a birthday party. It seems people still utilize this boat launch and it’s nice pier. I even saw a few people catching fish. This is a great little park to check out.

This place is GREAT! Provided you have or like the following: –A boat or jetski. Plenty of parking for trucks with trailors and free launching –a dog. A nice dog park that is again free to let you pooch run free and hump other dogs. –little kids. I have kids but they are now smart ass, back talking, little shits who would rather not play on their nice jungle gym –an ass to sit. While I have an ass; sitting and watching the waves is something I can only do for 5 minutes before my ADD kicks in and I gotta move again. All of these things are great here if you enjoy that. There is also a 1 mile jogging/walking path that takes you towards Bucktown that is nicely paved along the levee. What they don’t have is a bike path. Well they kind of do. It’s 1 mile long and not worth the time as I learned this past Sunday when I wanted to get a 20 mile ride in.(I was told by an apparently unrealiable source that they had a 5 mile path here). It looks as though it is being built but won’t be ready for sometime. That’s ok Bonnabel boat launch, I’ll take my spandex covered ass else where for now.

I bring my dogs here all the time. They love it here. It’s small but there are usually tons of dogs for them to play with. Most of the owners and other dogs are very nice but like anywhere you go there are a few bad apples. Tip: Wear sunscreen. Even in the winter. They need to add 2 or 3 more trees soon or my t-shirt tan might become permanent.

My wife and i recently rescued a boxer, and we are trying to give him exercise as much as possible to build up his strength. The parking is great, wide open and a great view of the lake. As we walked in the had a double gate to prevent dogs from getting out and either putting on or taking off there leash. They even supply dog bags to pick up the poop, we brought our own but good to know they supply them. They have benches all over so you can get comfortable while your dog burns off there energy. The center has a doggy water fountain to keep them hydrated. They set it up nicely no matter where you are you can keep an easy eye on your dog, or other dogs. I didn’t go to the other park(Guess for kids) nor did i go to the actual boat launch area, but both looked nice. I can see going the dog park every weekend, i only wished they had one closer to my house in Arabi but its worth the drive.

This is a sweet little park at the end of Bonnabel Blvd. on the lake. Its main purpose is that it is a public boat launch, but, it is so much more. There is a fenced off dog park, a section of playground equipment, a huge grassy area that is perfect for throwing down a blanket or watching the sunset. There is also a large dock that you can hang out on over the water. I went for the first time yesterday with my work people. We set up a volley ball net. We brought a BBQ grill. We basically took over the place and had a great time!

This is where you go at 1am if you are 16(or 21 and stuck in a FEMA trailer with you parents) and need a place for some hanky panky. I can’t say I or anyone I know has gone here for any reason other than to get frisky.
