I fall into the category of people who should list the body parts that ARE functional, so I was always apprehensive about crossfit. After meeting with the coaches, I felt confident that they would be able to scale any workout to meet my physical limitations. I have been there for about 6 months and can attest that they have always accommodated and have regularly guided me away from moving up in weight before my form would permit. The coaching staff is friendly, knowledgeable and trustworthy. These things are very important as God only gives you one body. My wife and kids also do crossfit @ CFO and enjoy it thoroughly. One of my sons just completed his first Crossfit competition and seeing the support from the coaches was amazing. He is 12 years old in the middle of the Phoenix convention center with hundreds of people watching and he didn’t feel nervous due to the preparation he received. I felt very blessed as a nervous dad that it went so smooth. The CFO family is not like anything I’ve ever been a part of. Break down muscle while building community.

I was on a 10 year sabbatical from all things exercise when I was introduced to CrossFit. I didn’t care about fitness and certainly didn’t care about what fuel I put into my body. After I started working out here on a dare from Coach Dan, I found something I was missing for 10 years. The real me. He made me care about me. Not just the exercise part, but my body as a whole and everything I put into it. This box(what we call our gym) is made up of amazing athletes, coaches, kids and teens, husbands and wives, friends, and most importantly family. The focus on form and function has kept me injury free and at 35 years old, I am now in the best shape of my whole life because of this place. Now, I can’t even imagine my life without all these wonderful people and without this amazing place in it. Walking through these intimidating doors was the best decision I have ever made.

After having two children I developed an «on again-off again relationship with exercise. I was an athlete in high school and LOVED physical fitness, but for some reason I couldn’t get my groove back after I became a mom. I tried all kinds of different workout routines(P90X, Spin Classes, Yoga, Zumba, and traditional gyms), but no matter what I tried I couldn’t find my passion… that is until I was introduced to CrossFit. When I walked into my first box(CrossFit slang for gym) I was intimidated and wasn’t sure it was for me, but I decided to give it try and I’m SO glad I did. I discovered what had been missing all of those years… a supportive community, a competitive environment and accountability to myself and others. CrossFit provided all of this. And that my friends is how Stella got her groove back ;-) Since joining CrossFit a little over a year ago I have been able to workout at a number of boxes. What I can tell you is that each box is completely different. The owners and coaches are what separate the good from the great. At CrossFit Obsession Coach Dan(the owner) is truly obsessed. You can tell his passion is to help others achieve their personal fitness goals. His motto is: «Form first, then consistency, then intensity.» Form is so important in CrossFit to ensure you don’t injure yourself so I appreciate his concern for his members’ safety above all else. The CrossFit Obsession members are all so welcoming and supportive of one another. It’s amazing to be a part of this community! They’re a team of people that support one another inside and outside of the box. Come check it out for yourself!!!
