I decided to try this place because I moved out to East Mesa over a year ago and didn’t want to keep travelling into Scottsdale for a hair cut. The salon itself was fine. Generally cute décor and they use Aveda products. I had my first appointment there with Nelly and although she was very nice I just didn’t like the cut I received. I brought in a picture of someone who appears to have the same general type hair as me and I did want the cut a little longer than the picture. What I ended up with was nothing like it. It’s kind of a Midwestern mom type style and the layers were very poorly cut. There were two other girls working who seemed to do a much better job. They both had people walk about with younger more trendy styles. I’ll just keep on looking for a better fit for me.

Sadly disappointed that I arrived at 4:30 to find out that everyone went home. I don’t have a lot of hair to cut, so would have taken 20min max… Missed out on a sale, returning customer, and a tip. If you’re open until 5, have someone available until then… Otherwise close earlier. Cheers!

Over my ombré(read: grown out highlights), I made my 1st appt here with Sammi. She took me back quickly and we discussed what to do with the color and cut. Sammi gave me all over color, but used two shades to create dimension. My color looks so pretty in the sun and really does bring out my eyes, just like she said. My only complaints are that they didn’t seem to have a dryer to sit under while processing, so that took a long time and I think she ran out of time to really cut some bangs in… Overall, I was pleased and will be back. Sammi is friendly, professional, and has a great eye for color.

I have been a client of Bev’s for many years. She has recently moved to Charlie’s Salon in Mesa, and it has been a great change. I love their adjustable shampoo bowls and nail chairs. I also liked that they are using Goldwell color line. My current color is blonde and as natural brunette(shh don’t tell) lifting to blonde usually requires bleach which is not so friendly to my hair. With the new product line, she was able to lift my roots without bleach… #winning! Charlie’s is not a huge salon, but that’s what I like about it. All the people are super friendly, and really enjoy working together. Also, as an animal lover, I also love that Charlie’s was named after the owners dog… which gives it a personal touch. Plus who doesn’t like to see a picture of a cute puppy when you walk in? My stylist, Bev, is AWESOME! She is extremely knowledgeable about color and stays up to date on the latest trends. She is always recommending new styles and colors which always excites me, because I like to be ahead of the trends when it comes to my hair. I have no fear and complete trust in Bev because I have never left the salon looking any less that a 10(Well my at least my hair). The owners seem truly dedicated to creating a spa like experience for their clients and really have a passion for the business. *Tip: Bev is always booked, so call in advance for an appointment. Or, expect to get put on a wait list. Hey… that’s a sign of good stylist!
