my husband and i rented a car to go up north for our anniversary and we brought our jack russell with us. when we returned the car, an avis employee checked the car and then we paid the rental. about 2 weeks later we received a bill for $ 250.00 for a cleaning fee on the car rental. the next day we checked on our checking account and there was a hold on it for $ 250.00 plus they had already taken $ 250.00 out of our checking account. we contacted avis customer service they said the additional fee was cleaning dog hair. i felt as if the avis employee who checked my car should of told us that because of the dog hair they were going to charge me $ 250.00. when i asked her why she didn’t say anything to me, her answer was because i didn’t read the rental agreement. i feel that the charge was excessive and avis ripped us off. i want everyone to pass this on to everybody you care about and know. i would of brought the car to a car wash and got it vacuumed for a lot cheaper then $ 250.00 had the avis employee told me about the cleaning charge. i will never rent a car from avis again.
