Strack and Van Til

Unfortunately this location needs a dramatic update. Plus the cashiers are hard to get them to smile.

Have quit frequenting this store. PLEASE keep track of your «sale» items… you will find they are not «entered» into the register when you check out. Have been bringing this to at least 2 managers attention in the past 2 years. They never have given me any good reason, which creates quite a bit concern. Has not changed. (I often wonder how many people have no idea it is going on… please check and SPREAD THE WORD!!) Another thing…“rotation” of items a problem as well. Frozen foods… you will find items from 2012. Sale items in dairy are often beyond the «sell by» date. Store continues to go downhill… no improvements and it does not appear that they care about the consumer. (I asked my husband this evening how I could let customers become aware of the problem with the «consistent» neglect with sale prices not appearing in the register at checkout. He said to open a Unilocal account and post those very concerns. I did so shortly thereafter and certainly hope I can help others who work hard for their money and the many «savvy» shoppers who watch for sales. You deserve to be charged the price you elected to pay!

This place is poorly managed. They consistently have bad produce, deli and specialty items. I’ve brought a number of issues to the attention of the store manager and even straks corporate office. The response I received was laughable. A generic we apologize seemingly written by someone in kindergarten. Very poorly written and unprofessional. This store is dingy and never presents clean. The only positives are the ladies in the seafood department. They are always helpful and pleasant

I used to shop at this Strack’s all the time when I lived in Merrillville. I stopped in there last week on my way home just for 1 small item. In the past three years this store has gone down hill. Strack’s has remodeled most of their stores as well as the Ultra chains but not this one! Store is old and delapidated. Produce section is gross! Nothing looks fresh and there are flies all over the place. Won’t be going back here again! All of the other stores are so much nicer than this one! Don’t know why they haven’t fixed this one up yet but they really need to!

Not the cleanest place. Sometimes ill drive all the way down Broadway just to shop at the newer, cleaner version. The produce and meat are good quality. Never enough cashiers to guarantee a fast checkout.
