I believe a ma and pa type store could be very competitive against the excellent open market competition of the inter-​web if their customer service is Outstanding. A ma and pa store with a «kiss my *» attitude I don’t feel has a chance against Ebay, Amazon, Craigslist, Walmart, or any web-​shopping search.

I’ve been going here since I was little with my dad! Any camera/​photo needs, this is the go-​to spot! The kind hearted staff will take very good care of you!

as a newbie in the dslr-​market, i’ve been exploring a lot of camera shops in the chicagoland area. this was a nice store run by a pleasant couple who seemed very friendly and helpful. they appeared quite knowledgable, had a good selection of cameras and accessories and had a bunch of tamrac bags (amongst other brands).

Mark is very knowledgable, informative and helpful. I talked to him on the phone before putting in the order on Monday afternoon, and received it the next day at noon. I ordered a lens that was part of a kit but the packaging was better than anything I has seen from B&H, Amazon or Adorama. I highly recommend these folks!
They added a small ziplock bag with «freebies» that included a keychain and canon lens cloth which I thought was a very nice touch

Their prices are as good as it gets, and the staff here is very professional and friendly. Ready to help out and they don’t just keep trying to sell you random accessories.

My review of this store is based on my online experience with this company. I live in California and I decided to buy my Canon 70 – 200 2.8is ii from Gary Camera after seeing some of their online listings through ebay and then checking out their website. This store, hands down, has some of the best prices on digital equipment.
On top of their great prices, their customer service was excellent. I initially emailed them and got prompt responses and was informed of their current inventory status and when they expect to get another shipment of the lens I wanted. They gave me the option of «first dibs» on the lens when it gets shipped from Canon. Well they lived up to their promise, once I got the emailed that they will have on shipped to them in a few days I put my order in. I talked to Mark Blane and he was very informative and upfront about the products they sell, and he didn’t try to sell me on expensive accessories to compensate for their great prices.
My experience with Gary Camera Digital, was wonderful and I highly recommend them. They even threw in a nice Canon labeled cleaning cloth.

As one of the few (and oldest) camera shops in the area, Gary Camera has stood the test of time. They have on-​site photo development, equipment repairs, and a well-​stocked retail store (for its size and location). I’ve found the guys that work the counters to be friendly and insightful. While prints are a bit pricey; they run the usual professional premium you’d expect from a bonafide camera shop.
While not necessarily for the point-​and-​shoot crowd with their $ 100 HP digicams (no offense to those of you out there), Gary Camera should be a stop for those in the NW IN region interested in stepping their photography up a notch.
